Unlike past releases, this time we have not needed to establish any conceptual relationship between the pieces to give an homogeny and global approach to it: It seemed to be the best, after the success of our latest releases, to get some fresh air and create a free style release, but asking ourselves to give maximum quality.
That's the reason you'll face a collection of pieces that go further from the techniques they were created, because the appealing of "Substantia" is the crazy amount of stories that it has yet to tell, with many different begin

Micro-Essay #1 - YeatsI have been thinking of writing a little series of micro-essays in which I analyse poetry from some of the finest poets of the last couple of centuries. I hope to look at how great poets do what they do, what they manage to achieve, and delve into some of the hidden lives buried within the poems. This venture is a personal one - I don't expect many people to be interested enough to avidly read these essays, but hopefully the process will afford me the opportunity to flex my critical muscles. I have been out of university for nearly a year now, during which time I was trained in just this sort of thing, and I find I am missing it rather. All that being said, if you do have any thoughts on anything I say in any of these entries, please do comment. I'd love to get a dialogue going. I'd be particularly interested to hear the opinions of those who steadfastly disagree with my analysis - those are always the best to read.More Like This

Five In FiveReflecting upon my art school days recently, a thought popped into my head...a rarity.More Like This
I was thinking back to how we were instructed in Life Drawing 101 to do gesture drawings within a short period of time. Basically, it is a method of training hands to quickly sketch what the brain has already seen. Staying "focused" means sustained concentration. Once you start drawing you can't stop because there's only a minute or two to finish!
With that practice in mind I figured it would be a good exercise for photography as well. Too often I hear people say they have "writer's block" when it comes to finding something to photograph. So five photographs in five minutes seemed to me to be a good motivational exercise for one to do when down in the creativity dumps. Because of the short time frame it sharpens the mind's eye to produce, on deadline, something…anything. All in an effort to get the creative adrenaline pumping again.
Its not about creating the next Mona Lisa…its about producing

Daily Deviation Report: March 2013Hallo, and welcome to my March Daily Deviation Report. What follows is a comprehensive feature of the Daily Deviations that I featured during the month of March 2013 in the Abstract and Surreal categories. This month has been a difficult one for me in terms of my staff responsibilities, due to one computer breaking and another having continued teething troubles. I apologise for not being as active this month in terms of comments and correspondence, but hopefully this will change in the coming days and weeks.More Like This

A stolen glance in the moonlight
A subtle touch and I believe again
Trying to feel our wary steps
In the darkness that is sweet
Like the red wine on your lips
Just like the illusions that I'll miss
When finally this all slips away...
Dreaming under torrid ruins
The embers fade into the mist
And I could scream but I must pretend
The world hasn't changed
And I am the same
But I know the distance will slowly withdraw
And dreams will fade away
...Still the shadows of hurtful doubts
Oh they fill my sleepless nights...
Finally adrift in the shelter of dreams
All I see is the deceitful eyes of love...
Still your lies are sweeter than any truth I've heard
And so, for now, I don't even mind
