SexismBoys will be boysMore Like This
Girls shall be ladies
Boys romp and play
make mud pies and fight
Girls have tea-parties
dress up and act like grown-ups
we chuckle when boys return
covered head to toe in mud
we scold when a girl returns
with a grass stain on her clothes
Boys shout and holler
Girls wait and listen
'Lower your voice girl,'
they say when she squeals
'Is it because I'm a girl?'
she asks quietly
They lie respond with 'no,
its just what is proper'
Then why aren't boys
silenced when they scream
Girls have voices too!
We are they the silenced ones?

As long as I came home and cooked dinner for my husband when I was done,
Because that’s all I’m really worth to them.
I’m a plate of burnt pancakes
That they could have cooked better,
And a rag soaked in chemicals
Here to wipe up a mess they made
Or gag the children that they’re too tired to listen to.
My skin is too dark for them
Too dark to be near their sons
Too dark to be pretty in their family pictures
Too dark to suit the skins of their grandchildren,
Love everyone equally,
Just love them from afar, right?
“Depression is a sin,”
He preached with a pounding head
And a trace of liquor on his breath.
And he would know better then anybody,
Because leaking from his hollow eyes is a stream of whiskey
But only in my mind.
And I feel sorry for him, that they make him fight against himself,
But at the same time I hate him for giving in to them.
In my mind, I stand up in the pew and scream truth at him,

She went to the emergency room here at a Catholic hospital, and they refused to take care of her. They just flatly refused…they would not touch her because she might be pregnant, and they might disturb the child. She continued to bleed." (Paley 8)More Like This
"I found out I was pregnant when I was fourteen. I didn't get a period. I talked to nobody. I panicked. I sat in hot baths. I drank these strange concoctions girls told me about—something like Johnny Walker Red with a little bit of Clorox, alcohol, baking soda—which probably saved my stomach—and some sort of cream. You mixed it all up. I got violently ill." (Goldberg 116)

I see a lot of comments here and there that go something like this...
"50 points?? Why would I pay 50 points for an adopt..."
"100 points? Are you sure you're not overpricing that...?!"
And I'm sure many of you have seen similar comments, now I understand that points aren't the easiest things to accumulate when you're fresh into dA or even we

Getting to know me questions
What got you into crochet?
I grew up watching my mom and grandma crochet things from doilies to blankets and always wanted to learn, so I eventually did when I was 10 or 11 from my grandma. My mom tried teaching me a little, but it didn't work too well. XD
How long have you been crocheting?
I've been crocheting since I was around 10, shall we say? I didn't get around to crocheting most of my days away till the last year or so. Before that, I only crocheted when I felt like i
Adopts for Charity! - an eventTHE GIST:More Like This
Myself and any other artists who want to help will be making adoptables, commissions, or any sort of art for money, which we will donate the proceeds from to one of two charities in this event. Anyone can get involved, so please consider helping out in one of the ways we have listed below.
HOW TO HELP:
1. Selling the work
This is where you do what you do best- make art. Do adoptables, commissions, whatever you would usually do, and sell it. I would ask that you donate, at minimum, 50% of the proceeds to the charity of your choosing. Feel free to stock up on designs and start planning before the event starts.
If you sell things for points, and you don't have a PayPal (both of the charities take PayPal) you can talk to me, I'll have you send the points to me, and I'll donate the 100% USD equivalent of the points to the charity you wanted it to go to.
2. Buying the work
Obviously, this won't work if we don't have buyers. I encour
