She clutched her satchel and prayed that they'd not given her the wrong place; a life depended on it and this cave's supposed resident was the only one who could save it.
She waited in silence, staring into the darkness. Her hands were shaking, she was gripping her satchel and its contents so tightly that her knuckles were turning white.
After what seemed like a small eternity, the sound of slow, padded footsteps began creeping out of the cave, a pair of bright green, serpentine eyes almost glowing in the gloom.
"My, my... what do we have here...?" the eyes hissed, its voice laced with an artificial sweetness that made her shiver, "A maiden sacrifice, to sate my appetite? How kind of your people..."
