Claire Shepard's eyes widen as a green and black hand comes flying towards her face. Her blue eyes shut in surprise, waiting for the impact. A moment passes before she realizes that nothing's happened. She opens one eye hesitantly, Kolyat Krios's open palm rests no more than five inches from her face. She glances past his hand, looking intently at his face. The scaled face shows very little emotion, but those large, black eyes seem to stare into her very soul. "Not bad commander. Your reactions are a little slow though. But Doctor Chakwas told me that after what you've been through, it's to be expected."
Claire gets to her feet, wiping the beads of sweat from her forehead. The pair of them are on a grey, martial arts mat. Kolyat is clad in black cloth leggings, with no shirt. Claire wears a red and black tank-top with sweatpants. Kolyat stands with his back to her, hands clasped in front of him. Claire dusts off her hands and takes her positio

"Shepard, it's late and you should get some sleep", Garrus sighed, looking up from the datapad on which he was handling multiple matters of turian state security. Since becoming Primarch he'd found that even in the rare moments where he found himself alone with friends, rather than surrounded by the rest of the Hierarchy, there were still some things that simply could not be put off. Right now, he needed his best friend to stop glaring out of the mirrored window at the assembled press below and go to bed so he could get some work done before turning in himself.
"I know, but for some strange reason, I can't", Captain Kira Shepard replied. "Something to do with oh, I don't know, getting married tomorrow?". She turned toward him, arms folded across her chest and smirked at her bulwark, her brother-in-arms, as he wrestled with yet more reports of fleet strengths and reconstruction efforts that were only now hitting their stride, almost a

"Major Coats? Major? Sir?"
The voice was indistinct, crackling caused by distance and poor connection quality, but it was Corporal Ahmed alright. Coats had despatched a shuttle to the remains of the Citadel as soon as it became apparent that the red energy field had disabled all the Reapers and their forces. With the fleets who knew where after Hackett's emergency withdrawal order, recovery of survivors stranded in orbit had become a priority for the groundside forces. Coats opened a link to respond, cautiously optimistic at what sounded like excitement in the corporal's voice.
"This is Coats. Report, corporal"
"We found her sir! She's alive! Shepard's alive!", the young Glaswegian sounded ecstatic. You and me both, lad, thought Coats, listening to the cheering that had erupted behind him.
"Well done corporal. Is she badly injured, can you put her on a shuttle and get her back down here to a hospital? There's still no word on the
The Fall of ThessiaCommander Shepard approached Liara's office and stopped short of the door sensors. She drew in a deep breath, closed her eyes and exhaled slowly. She could hear the sobs out here. Each one was breaking her heart. Shepard took another step forward and the office door opened. A wave of relief passed over her, she had been worried that door would be locked. Shepard had expected Glyph to greet her when she entered but the little information drone just hovered in the corner. Maybe Liara had put it in stand-by or perhaps it understood its master was in no mood to deal with it.More Like This
The Commander strode through the office part of Liara's quarters and stood at the threshold of her personal area. Liara was seated in the middle of the bed. Her chest heaved in and out erratically and her slender frame was trembling, the vehement sobbing taking its toll. She was hunched over three data pads arranged in a semi-circle around her. She had been reviewing the reports on Thessia, torturing herself with the d

She turned on her side and readjusted her pillows for what was probably the hundredth that night. As weary as she was, sleep should have been an easy task. Unfortunately her mind did not want to cooperate with what her body was demanding. Her mind wanted to think about Earth and all the horrors taking place there, about Kaiden and the angry bruises on his face, about Palaven and about Garrus. She hoped her turian friend was alive and well. Shepard uttered a dejected sigh and pulled herself off the mattress. She arched her back, stretching the sore muscles on her lithe frame that protested against the notion of having to do more work. Perhaps a stroll around the Normandy would ease her mind. Shepard stepped into her slippers and made for the elevator.
The CIC had been eerily quit even if the hour was late. The silence a reminder of when the Collector's had abducted her crew. Shepard chased away the memories of the Collector base. She did not need another horrible thing to dwell on. The

Traynor heard the hum of her silent alarm, stretched and allowed herself another moment snuggling in the warmth. In the recent weeks she had become accustomed to the life and rhythm on board of the Normandy. What she had not yet been getting used to was the small space in the shower room. So she got up mostly very early, often two hours before the start of the day shift. Three showers and a close washroom was not always a good thing, even if one, like Traynor loved women.
It was particularly embarrassing for Traynor whenever she met there at Dr. T'Soni. It was not that the Asari said or did something. It was her own thoughts that made everything worse and she was a little scared after Liara's sm
Headache (A Mass Effect 3 One-Shot)Shepherd watched as the keys of the piano depressed under Glyph's ministrations, filling the apartment with lingering notes and resounding chords. Liara sat nearby, a soothing presence, as the music washed through Shepherd's mind, clearing it. The battles on Thessia, Rannoch, Palaven, and elsewhere in the galaxy seemed more distant than ever. However, the constant reminder of the challenges ahead remained in full force. The moment was bittersweet, but pleasant nonetheless. If only this could last, Shepherd thought remorsefully, eyes slipping shut but for a moment.More Like This
"This is a nice place," Liara commented from her seat on the couch, tapping casually on a datapad.
"Shall I transfer over your reports so you may work here?" Glyph asked studiously.

Turning away from the piano, Shepherd once again absorbed the sight of Anderson's gifted apartment. The near-constant hum of passing

Shepard was sitting in Chakwas’s new makeshift office in one of the spare bedrooms of the hotel suite. The doctor had come over that morning after receiving the Commander’s urgent text the night before and had set up shop instantly. Chakwas had made herself comfortable in an armchair with a pad of paper and pen and had insisted that Shepard take the bed. Their sitting situation was a crude replica of the stereotypical setup for a therapist’s office which was somewhat amusing Shepard as she glanced around the room, trying to delay answering the question. As she made note of the contents of the room, she noticed that Chakwas had switched her usual drink of Serrice Ice Brandy to a glass of water, a comforting gesture of solidarity that put her mind at ease. That is, of course, until she realized that the small talk and light banter had ceased and Chakwas had asked her such a loaded question.

Her shoulders were hunched, her head hung low as her tears mixed with the water streaming out of her soaked hair to drip from her nose and chin. The sound of raindrops on the leaves of the huge sycamore tree and her own dark thoughts were her only company. The weather nearly matched her mood and what was left of her.
The others had long since retreated the two miles back to the manor house where she lived now, but she could not bring herself to leave. Not yet. Perhaps, in some ways, never.
