I miss those words you sent me, so tender and fake. I wanted to read them over for the fourth dozen time, in hopes that the warmth of nostalgia would wrap around me, and bring my wounded soul solace.
Those words. They seemed so pretty and sweet and sincere. Twinkling in the summer sunlight. As I got closer I saw they were like the thinnest of decorative glass. Ornamental figurines placed within my sight by you from your mighty pedestal. I soon learned those words would not uphold.
I got too close, I put pressure upon them. They quickly cracked and broke in my hand. They cut me until I bled. I fervently tried to put them back together, remembering how happy and sweet they were just moments ago. I tried to remind you of that. I was scared you would be angry that it didn't take me long to see through them.
