This picture was done during a workshop in the "sea of Ice" ( Mer de Glace . France . chamonix )

I didn't use a long exposure here to keep the texture of flowing water. It was hand held with a graduated filter hand held as well ( LEE 0.9 Hard step ) to keep the sky ominous.

I chose a warm white balance to reveal some green in the water. I enjoyed this curved path of running water.. makes me want to swim in :)

It's one of my favorite from last year, hope you'll enjoy !

Was a small dock where I shot this that has a light pointed upwards which instantly triggered a composition idea.
This is artisticly edited, meaning cooler colors and a bit of purple tint, the highlights on the ground is also increased.

Shot with Nikon D800, 14mm, Iso 1250, 30 seconds.

INFO ABOUT THE ANIMAL:

Name: Sumatran tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae)
Location: Sumatra
Size: 1,8 m long body + 0,8 m tail, 0,9 m high weight: 180 kg
Diet: deers, boars, elks, birds, tapirs
Conservation status: Critically Endangered
Interesting facts: Sumatran tigers do not live in groups. Every tiger has its own territory and cats meet only to mate. Only female then take care of 2-4 kittens. Father does not look after his babies. Other males can kill the cubs, so mother must be very careful and she looks for her cubs until they are 2 years old | Sumatran tiger is the smallestt of all tiger subspecies | there are only some 400 - 600 Sumatran tigers living in the wild | Sumatran tigers swim very well and fast | they are threatened by hunters who kill them for their amazing wonderful fur

Ok, so what do you get when you cross incoming storms and a camera? An extremely happy Michael! This was taken just a few hours ago! We finally had our first strong thunderstorm and I couldn't be happier. This cell was documented as a meso by the NWS, with echo tops at about 21,000ft. Moving NNW at about 21 mph, so I was literally there to see it form into this beautiful thunderstorm. Seeing this develop way out over Long Island and slowly watch this cell turn into a monster of a storm was absolutely amazing. It's very rare that I ever get to see, let alone capture the birth of a thunderstorm; so I am just beyond elated! Extremely soaked, but just in awe!

Frame is complimentary color scheme, with a sepia tone (since the predominate color is blue). Gradient inlay and a soft dropped shadow. Taken in Panoramic format. There is minor editing done on the picture to correct color and minor camera distortion, but other then that, nature provided the rest. Hope you ENJOY!

I realize that this could very well be submitted into a 'waterscape' category. However, since the storm is what I was photographing, I have decided that this belongs in 'weather' more then 'waterscapes'.

Taken at Saybrook Point. Old Saybrook, C.T
Looking out over Long Island Sound as the storm was making it's way out to sea.
Frame is Monochromatic, Wow-Nightvision Chrome, wave refraction overlay with a black 20px stroke. Nothing in this photo has been enhanced in any way other then minor changes to clean up distortion. ENJOY!!

30 second exposure time
50mm focal length

PHOTOGRAPHERS NOTE: Lightning is natures number one killer. People can and have died while photographing lightning and storms. I do not condone anyone doing what I do, as it is very dangerous and you have to know what you are doing. I have had enough schooling and "on the job" training and expierances to know when I am in danger. Please do not chance photographing lightning or any severe weather if you do not know what you are doing!

Just Minutes after a storm came through. It's ironic how when you're not looking for weather to photograph, it always seems to present itself in the most beautiful and majestic ways. This is probably one of my favorite shots of this year during the storm season. Those to me are always the best shots, the one's you're not expecting!

Frame is a soft monochromatic, with a soft dropped shadow. This picture was not enhanced or edited in any way, other then framework and minor correction to correct camera distortion. Everything else was Mother Nature's doing! Hope you all enjoy!

For those that don't know "Empyrean" means "Sky". I have changed the category from 'waterscape' to now 'weather and sky'. Sorry for the error.

BlackWing and NightFlow!
my to most favorits of all of my Characters (+BlackWings new design as well )

i just felt like it, i could have make it much more colorful with changing the season to 'Fall'

i know it should be more swamp like when the grass is meeting the water and not so easy nice forms, i guess i got tired of it at the end.

anyway i think the outcome looks okay could have been better or worse,

well enjoy!

Lighting

We wanted to keep the lighting fairly simple in these images in order to show off the detail of the beetles, but not become a distraction. It is also important that while the key light is almost directly straight on, that shadow and highlight definition are maintained. If you use a light source that is too large at such a close distance you will wind up with images that don’t have a clear boundary between highlight and shadow.

For the key we used an 11-inch Long Throw reflector, usually reserved for point lights. Because it was so close to our subject, and only a small area needed to be lit, the falloff was not an issue here. This harsh light provides nice highlight detail while also producing shadows.

For the background we used 2 strip lights pointed towards a white seamless. The lights hit the seamless, exposing it properly and because the surface is white, it allowed a lot of light to be reflected. Some of this reflected light came back and hit the back side of the model, giving a faint rim light.

Images are exposed at f/18 ISO 200 1/160 sec. 105mm on a 24-105mm 4.0L IS.

Concept

This shoot was inspired by Rankin‘s amazing series of lips holding things like flowers. We also drew inspiration from the Silence of the Lambs movie poster. I have always thought scarab beetles were beautiful and this was the perfect opportunity to feature them in a photo.

For the concept to come to life we needed an amazing makeup artist who could match the beauty of the insects. For the green scarab we decided to go with complimentary colors, yellow-green and red-violet. This colors play well off each other and allow each to stand out. For the blue beetle we took hints from its natural markings and decided to mimic those in the makeup. Using a dark blue as a base, a light stripe was painted down the middle of the lips. When the beetle was in place the effect took shape, making it look as though the stripe goes from the lips to the beetle.
I am a huge car fan, and I have seen a similar effect done on the Dodge Viper. The way the stripe continues through the steering wheel is pure genius.

Working with Models

Putting giant bugs on a model’s face is a lot to ask. For this shoot we had to find someone who had large lips, great teeth and skin, and was also ok with insects. Be sure all of that is laid out before the day of the shoot so there aren’t any surprises.

There are a couple of things you can do to help your subjects get more comfortable when doing something out of the ordinary. First be sure to show them references of other similar images so they know what they are going to get. If they can imagine the end shot, they are much more likely to have a good time. We also shoot tethered to a laptop so the model can see the images as they are shot. That way they will gain confidence as the shoot goes on and know how to pose for the camera.

We also used a mirror for this shoot so the model could see what she was doing with the beetles. We had her hold them because she has a better sense of pressure than someone else does on her own face. Using a mirror she could place the beetle correctly then pivot slightly for the shot.

one of my OC's he is a wolf but I can't draw wolves so he comes out cartoony a lot. LOL but I'm fine with that. xD I do love his design, it is so simple but I really cannot draw him right. Anywho, I dunno if I'll make a ref, maybe I will but I don't think I will yet. I mostly just draw him when I'm bored

I love you my Matty<3

Haha, just a drawing i made for my loveXD

I'm kind of at cross roads right now...i wanted to try a different animal than a cat so i drew a Hyena named Lottie....and sadly, i fawking LOVE the design and like..she's so cute ;w; I like, want to use her as my Fursona now, no lie...i'm getting a little bored of Misty, i love drawing in her...but I want to start fresh...i mean, i used misty through all the bad times and when i look back at some pictures it upsets me, and i want to head more towards lighter grays.

And then there's Matts design, he be sort of a sparkle dog, i wanted to add green on him (his fav color) but ever other way looked bad so i just stuck with the main green pelt. He looks cool, cute too:P

Soo..tell me, should I switch fursonas? I mean, i have a feeling im going to, but what do you guys think?

I am graduating from high school, and this is basically the norwegian high school graduation uniform(the red overalls). So we wear those pants for a month, a month filled with partying, heavy drinking, sex and stupidity, like any other sane person who have their exams the week after. The last day of celebration is 17 May, the Norwegian Independence Day!

So yah, happy birthday Norway and congrats to all the grad students of 2013 <3 (RUSS 2013) I'm going to miss these pants. so comfy and simple and practical amg
and yes I wear a captain america shirt with my patriotic!norwegian outfit because imma hypocritenot just because the colors match and its comfy nope

Taking a break from commissions this month-- I wanted to cram at least one or two new pictures to print in time for AnimeNext. I'm sure there's things that could use fixing but I won't spend more time on this because I also want to do a Finn picture (and a new Korra picture too!) Stay tuned for that! And enjoy the picture!
