This used to be part of a bigger painting that I scrapped because I couldn't get it to work. Salvaged this part tho. Hope you like it ^^. I went for that arabian nights meets Naboo feel.

So I have a few paintings in the cooker that I'm sneaking in between all the end of year festivities. I hope all of you out there are having a nice time with family and friends and can unwind for a bit. Maybe more coming this year, if not see all of you in 2013.
Thanks for your support and kind words!

Finally finished with this one! I've been working on this for about a week straight, and i'm glad to finally put it up.

A study of one of Albert Bierstadt's paintings. Check out his work if you aren't familiar with him. His work is incredible.

This was a really fun study to do and took a lot of work, but I'm glad to be done with it. Hope you guys like it!

Don't forget to join me on facebook! I show a lot of sketches and WIPs on there, and talk about a bunch of nerdy stuff: [link]

Isle of Skye, UK
Autumn 2012

With the aim of shooting some Scottish Landscapes in dynamic weather I started my trip to Great Britain in mid-November and traveled for about 5 weeks trough the country. My journey took me from the south coast of England via Northumberland to Scotland. In Scotland I traveled from the Isle of Skye to Caithness, Torridon and Assynt. As expected the weather conditions were very contrary (snow, sun, storm, rain). The exposed position at the Atlantic Ocean is responsible for the unpredictable weather in western Scotland. Often it’s possible to experience several seasons within one day. Although it often wasn’t very easy to keep my camera dry, I was rewarded with a variety of spectacular sunrises and sunsets.

In the second part of my UK-series 2013, I present the images of the Isle of Skye. The fascinating hills and the impressive coastline are typical for the Scottish landscape. The weather was as expected at the end of November – very rough. During my ten-day stay there was no day without rain and storm. But in the rare minutes when the sun showed the landscape turned into a fairy tale world and I was spectacular rewarded for the long rainy waiting times. I'll upload them here on DA during the next days. English descriptions and more shoots will follow soon!

Yes it happened, a ruins matte painting of NY.

I chose not to put in any famous buildings since that's been done many times. (sorry Shreeve, Lamb and Harmon :p)
I took the plate of this pic on the roof of the POD hotel somewhere around 55th.

This is my quick matte painting...I drew it 7.5 hours and I actually drew it for college (we had to draw space). So I decided to quickly paint one landscape. I think I almost don't have any landscape paintings in the gallery ^^; So, here is something different from me, and I hope you'll like it. I drew it from beginning with colors and I didn't set the concept at the beginning. I just sketched and I wouldn't imagine that drawing will look like this at the end. It was completely a new thing for me. :dummy:

But I'm a fantasy artist, so I just had to draw something fantasy :giggle: I drew even one little deer in the background so try to find it ;P Oh, and I drew it flipped... so drawing was actually flipped in other direction. And shortly I'll also upload whole video progress from this drawing on YouTube, so you'll be able to see my drawing progress for the first time :squee: So stay tuned :la:

:bulletgreen: Adobe Photoshop CS6
:bulletgreen: tablet Wacom Bamboo Pen & Touch Special Edition M
:bulletgreen: original size is 6000 x 3604 px
:bulletgreen: I had 109 layers
:bulletgreen: I drew it 7.5 hours
:bulletgreen: Textures are from CG Textures

I hope you like it and comments are welcome

My supervisors like the old artwork "temple of the Sun" so we decide there will be a revised version of it, match my current skill.

But actually, since I love the old one so much, for me it's perfected enough so I can't make it look much better, just more... complicated.

Made with Mandelbulb3D 1.8.9 - using the new volumetric light!
HeightMapIFS + _Rotate + ABoxVaryScale + ABoxModKali

Temple Variants:

Check out my 3D printed fractal sculptures!

How to use Volumetric Lights in Mandelbulb3D? =>
Go into the coloring tab of the main window and click on the "Dyn fog on it" button: it will transform into volumetric light. In the text box next to it, you put the number of the light source you want to use for volumetric (by default it's the 1st one) then you can render the image. If the light direction is not interesting, you can change it using the sliders in the Global Light tab of the light which is selected (make sure that the light in On, and also note that volumetric lighting also works with Positional light, as in the latest image by Kraftwerk). Then you can modify the intensity of the light by playing with the d.Fog sliders in the Lighting window. As a side note, if you use Hard shadows, don't forget to try to tick the "Softer HS" box in the post process window, and try to increase the Radius value. It will blur hard shadow edges for more realistic renders. Hope this helps.

Supremus Lucernarium

It started as a little play with world machine and ended up as a new wallpaper. To avoid confusion: the planet on the right side got hit by an asteroid. The asteroid had enough power to cut a rift into the planet. The image shows the moment when the sun is right behind the planet and shining through this hole. I'm not completely sure about that part because it also could be some kind of crazy explosion. But due to the strong light of the sun, you won't see the hole itself. But I hope my little explanation made it clear :)

The rest shows a peaceful planet with some smaller colonies. The viewer (you) stands on a platform enjoying the sight. And yes... there are birds on this world. Why? Because I made a cool photo and because I like birds :D

Mortal Agony

You might wonder about the title. I chose the title in the very beginning of the image. I planned a more dramatic version but it ended the way it is now. As it is my first image in a while, I'm very happy that it's done now and I like the outcome. Hope you'll like it too!

Finally i can start to post my newer works. I have some 5 pictures and wil lpost them in next 2 months hopefully.
This is a painting for the new project of the Creative Assembly.

The name of the game is Empire: total war. As I love to paint old ships I really enjoyed working on those pictures. This is only first one, the rest is waiting to be published.
The Image captures early mornig mood in huge french harbour La Rochelle, year 1715. The big ship on the left is the grandious Le Louis Quinze, most beatifull and biggest ship of its age.
I did try to make the ship as real as possible, reference was the model in naval museum in Paris. The general mood of the picture is maybe similar to some old oils from the 18.th century, that was my small goal.

The whole pic was done in about 30-40 hours. Original size is something like 2600pix so it was somehow hard to finish.

Im hoping that you will like this picture and i'll be happy to see any comments.
