I made a new costume in time for Anime Expo, but didn't have time to take photos in it! So here is a preview until I can do a photoshoot!
Super Sonico Blue Nurse - cosplayed by Yaya Han
I'm pretty happy with how this costume turned out! It was a 2.5 day sewing project and just something fun and silly that I wanted to make. - I try not to collect too many things since my costumes/supplies take up so much room in my house, but I do have a rather large sexy girl figure collection. I can't help it, I'm addicted! I started collecting Super Sonico figures about 2 years ago, and this blue nurse figure was the first one I got, in Akiba in Tokyo! After my 5th Sonico figure, the bug to cosplay her finally bit!
- In 15 years of cosplaying & nearly 300 charas later, I have yet to cosplay someone with light pink hair! Felicia from Darkstalkers & Sheryl Nome are the closest I ever got, and I once borrowed my friend Hanime's Fluttershy costume for a couple of hours. That's it! Never had a light pink haired cosplay of my own! It was beyond time...
- I chose the blue nurse costume because the colors are so pretty! That turquoise blue looks so fab with the pink hair!
- I bought a fabric with a texture because it was the perfect color, and I thought some texture would make the costume look more like a uniform! The dress was heavily altered from the pattern I made for my Jasmin Synn jacket! I love it when I can reuse patterns. The dress is boned and fully lined! For any tailored uniform looks, I always try to install boning to help the fit, and lining is super important. Can't stress that enough! The white trim is all hand made, with an upholstery vinyl. I also used the same material to make the belt from scratch! I had the most fun making the nurse hat!
- The contacts are from Pinky Paradise! http://www.pinkyparadise.com - The awesome headphones were simply ordered from eBay! They are actual headphones and even light up! Seriously easiest part of the costume to procure lol!
- Sonico-appropriate boobies courtesy of Victoria's Secret Bombshell bra! Same bra I use for Power Girl lol. I don't break it out often but for Sonico it was essential!
Definitely hope to take proper photos with this costume, soon! It's super comfy, albeit not being able to hear very well with the headphones on, lol!
Inspiration: I'm so excited to share the first photo of Heartseeker Ashe!! It's the newest costume I made and I'm so happy with it! I based this costume off the splash art of this skin noobabble.files.wordpress.com/… - it is a beautiful illustration and I loved the colors and theme of it. The in-game skin looks a bit different, so I chose to stick closer to the splash art!
Construction: I approach each costume as a translation of the design into a wearable garment, and often choose artistic interpretation over 100% accuracy. My goal for each costume is to get the feel and essence of the character across, and I aim to pay homage to the character, while injecting my own style and aesthetics into each costume. So for Heartseeker Ashe, I used a variety of fabrics and mixed them together. I also tapered the jacket to be wider at the bottom and made a double circle skirt instead of the mini skirt in the game rendering. I thought the wider bottom would balance out the puffy sleeves and big hair and give me a more feminine silhouette. I started collecting materials for this costume as soon as possible, and chose luxurious fabrics such as red silk, a lavender swirl patterned satin, a maroon brocade, and a matte metallic plum colored pvc. I made a red silk bodice and then tailored the jacket over it. The jacket is fully lined and custom patterned. The cape drapes almost like a flag in the game, so I made it t be stiff and heavy. The thigh high boot covers, garters, gloves, choker and shoe hearts rounded out the outfit. All of the gold trimming on the costume is hand patterned and cut gold neoprene, sewn on. I discovered this technique by accident and was so thrilled with how easy it was to work with, and how sleek it looks. Definitely recommend others to try making trim with metallic neoprene! I also made the heart shaped hair piece out of Worbla! The wig started off as a Matilda from Arda - I gradient dyed it from white to light blue, as a bridge between the splash art and the game render, and styled big barrel curls into it.
You can see some progress of the costume here:
BOW - I want to thank my dear friend Kamui Cosplay (www.facebook.com/KamuiCos) for making the stunning bow for me. This costume really came to be because we were chatting about potential future cosplays, and I asked her for advice on how to make the bow. Kamui replied that she needs to make a variety of props for documentation for her new Prop Making book, including a bow, so she suggested for us to collaborate together on this project. You can read all about how Kamui made the bow in her new book here: kamuicosplay.storenvy.com/coll… A digital version of the book can be downloaded here: kamuicosplay.storenvy.com/coll…
Conclusion: I have always wanted to make a Valentine's themed costume, and now I have! It's such a chic outfit and I love wearing it. I'll bring it to Anime Expo next, for Saturday. I'll be hanging out at my booth 920/922 as Ashe, so come by and say hello!
I'm attempting to post from my mobile so hopefully this works! I haven't posted progress photos before but thought that might be interesting for some of you! My newest costume in the works is Heartseeker Ashe from League of Legends! I'll be debuting it this weekend at Animecon in the Netherlands, and at Dreamhack on Monday in Sweden!
A fantastic portrait shot of Fiora thanks to Brian. I recently had the pleasure of visiting the beautiful country of Romania, as a Guest of East European Comic Con, and during my stay there, our hosts Shjinu and Gabi took us on a castle visit for an epic cosplay photoshoot! The weather was perfect, the setting was divine, and I'm just so grateful for the chance to dress up as my favorite LoL Champion on a real Medieval castle ground.
Costume: Fiora - Nightraven skin - League of Legends Made/modeled by Yaya Han Photographed by Brian Boling www.flickr.com/brianboling
Couple of facts about this costume:
This is my full armor set & sword for Fiora - League of Legends. Made out of Worbla (sword made out of wood, hilt made of Worbla). This took over 4 weeks of learning a new technique and using a new material -it was a good and agonizing experience lol
- In the Nightraven skin, Fiora actually does not have the red streak in her hair. Yes, I am wearing red contacts.
- No, I'm not tall enough to be an accurate Fiora. But I chose this costume for the grace and dignity of the character mixed with the dark cool armor design. My motto is that anyone can cosplay whoever they want. This is a hobbyist community
- I thought about distressing this armor but Fiora is actually very prim and proper as a Duelist! She would not allow her armor to be dirty and dinged up
- Although I have worn this costume already, it's still not entirely finished. There are some things I want to add to the bodysuit underneath.
A New Banner that Robaato and I collaborated on for next month's New York Comic Con! We'll also be auctioning this off during the show, so you can hang it on your door or on your wall (like a gangsta!)
See a brief walkthrough of the Cammy I drew up at the following link:
Chun Li fanart for the Thursday Task on Facebook! It took me forever, and I finished it today... so I wanted it to be as great as possible Chun Li Styles for everyone! Pick the one you like the most! (BG sucks, I'm sorry! xD)
Hope you like it!
A combination of 3 different models of Hayate that I think would make a great mesh mod. The color scheme is based on my "EnlighendShadow" character. The jacket comes from XKamosonX's Port of the model I designed. The pants, mask and head come from Black Ninja ported by Zareef. The gloves, shin guards, and scarf come from the red Ninja costume ported by VeiradA.
Another render of Ryu Hayabusa in a stance similar to the new statue produced by Team Ninja from Ninja Gaiden 3. I even added the sheath of The Blade of the Archfiend even though it's the wrong sheath to have on while wielding the Dragon Sword.
I just wanted to post an image that compared 3DSMAX to regular XNALARA. I also just noticed that it has been one year since the original image was made, man how time flies. I really do like how 3DSMAX allows for a much more realistic texture render and better lighting that what was possible with just XNALARA. I also just learned how to render things through 3DS MAX without a background and have a transparency layer so now I can do other different kinds of work with these renders. I guess the only think I don't like is how long it takes these images to prepare before rendering and then the actual render time before i get a complete image. Oh well I really do still like the results.
Yes this is the beginning of a series of fan arts i will call them, What IF? uff need your opinions guys, and i think i can accept suggestions someday of Characters of What if? For example this week i will upload another fan art of Mega man X called, WHAT IF. Mega man X was a Maverick xD hahaha, Hope you like this piece, ooooh y forgot
Been playing some SFxTekken and Ultra Street Fighter IV lately. Juri is my main gal <3 My thumbs are sore and my nerves are wrecked since I'm a casual n00b at fighting games but I'm determined to learn >:I
I put much more hours into this than usual. I tried to refine every little detail but not wreck myself with the process. I'm really content with this. This will make great print material.
My favourite Street Fighter character ever!!! I always play with her, since I was a little, little video games maniac I'm really good playing with her! No one can beat meee!!! Mwahahahaaaaa!!!
To do this pic I had to draw her separatly, 'cause it wouldn't fit in the same sheet then I put both pics togherer with photoshop, and with s help I gave those effects
I went through several pics to get a reference for the pose, and I found that that one is a very common one so... I did it!
I hope you like it!!
*Edit* I put in the scraps the two drawings separately [link] and [link]
I was never happy with how my old rendition of Mulan turned out, so over the last few months I totally redesigned the piece, and I'm much happier with the outcome. It will be a part of my print pack, which will be available soon on my etsy store. I'll also be looking to redo Belle soon too
Snapdragons represent strength and Orchid represents beauty.
This was a spontaneous concept, but I ended up really enjoying it! Princess outfits re-imagined as nouveau style, designed as though intended to be made, so all feasibly possibly to construct (I think!) Mulan > Belle > Ariel
These were so much fun to do and I think they'd make a great cosplay group! If I had more time (and money) and I would totally make them.
Cinderella, Elsa and Rapunzel is next, if I have time before I go back to work!
----------------------------- For those interested, here is intended construction details (you've gotta be good at ombre dyeing if you want to attempt these haha!):
Mulan: Made from light cottons dyed in gradients. Cuffs, belt and shoulder pads inspired by Chinese armour designs, made from embossed leather and embroidered. Tokens on belt are metal coins. Beads are jade. I wanted to create a soft, feminine look while still retaining traces of the warrior beneath it all!
Belle: Edging more into art deco, but still nouveau-esque imo. Top of dress would be either cotton or stiff silk, tail of dress is layers of chiffon. Again, all dyed in gradients. Bottom panels are sewn on top of an a-line skirt and fixed with embroidery. Bodice and upper skirt are paneled and embroidered - center piece is a sewn on belt, embroidered with dusky, earthy beads, though the very middle design is made of mirrored beads, to represent Beast's shattered mirror.
Ariel: Thanks to everyone on Facebook and Tumblr for voting on colours! I still would have loved the pink but the teal was quite popular The whole dress is a mix of her mermaid and human forms. Sleeves are fixed to bodice, puffed and slit to reveal cream lining. Tail of dress is layers of chiffon blended into the upper skirt by embroidery consisting of pearls, gold beads and lace. Bodice is boned with pearl trimming and embroidered same as the skirt, with the addition of sea-inspired adornments. The 'seashell bra' is pleated, stiffened fabric. ---------------------------------
Last in this series , Yaya Han's current spacegirl suit. The sleeves are redesigned , & the high cut bottoms are (regrettably for me) gone. She's returned to her original boots , & replaced the front "window" with a deeply plunging V-neck . Her hair now features blue & purply tints & added stripes to the suit of a subtly different color. Her raygun is more compact & perhaps original in conception,& she now has a jetpack! I really admire Yaya's dedication to her work & her execution is regularly jaw-dropping. Yaya has been devoted to this OC of hers enough to continually make new versions of the costume. Clearly she means a lot to her. Guess I'm just one of the woman's many admirers. Le sigh.
So this past weekend was my first time going to Katsucon! (Feb 13-15) And OMG IT WAS A BLAST!!
So a definite highlight of the whole weekend was getting to see Yaya Han! I know the media portrays a bad light on her at times, but she was super nice to me and from what I saw during the weekend! She was absolutely gorgeous! So I'm so glad I was able to have her sign my chibi that I made for her, and glad she loved it too! <3
360 from the previous Wonder Woman pic.. (In terms of line restraint, I'm just trying to figure out if there's a way to get good results without the standard layers and lassos etc. I'm too lazy to use all that... gets me out of the fun and Zen of it.. gets too scientific... )
