It was the week before Christmas. In an abandoned wine keg in the sewer, four-year-old Danielle Ratigan was in her father's study, drawing a picture as the professor was reading the newspaper.
Ratigan peered over the paper at his little daughter. "Why do you ask, princess?"
"I wanna make sure I leave out somethin' he really likes, an' you know a lot 'bout what kinds of cookies are the best 'cause of how much you like sweets."
Ratigan smiled, licking his lips a bit. "Can't argue with that logic. Hmm...how about double fudge chocolate chip? Those are Santa's favorite." In truth, double fudge chocolate chip cookies were his personal favorite, and since he would be the one that would end up eating the goodies that Danielle left out for Santa, he wanted to make sure he got one he liked.
Danielle looked up at her father. "How do you know that, Daddy?"
"Uh, he told me."
