See that bandwagon over there? ... Yeah... I jumped on it.
I really wish that they had done more with Sombra in the premiere... or at least given him a single moment of total, evil "badass-ery"... but no... he didn't get one... he barely did anything... which makes me sad. He had so much potential and so little screen time.
As far as GAK goes... I got really annoyed by those commercials, frankly... There was at least one during each commercial break... two on some... I'm not surprised that Bronies turned it into a meme... but I never expected the extent of which it would go... Yeesh... and now I suppose MLB is gonna be flooding with it for at least the next week...
I have no idea why I gave him a monocle... just felt like he needed one. Monocles are cool.
The painting is a screenshot of Sombra in his castle from the episode.
The recent clip that showed a bit of Sombra's powers. Not going to spoil for those who want to go in blind. But I bet this villain may become a new favorite for some of you. Kinda of remind me of The Lich from Adventure Time abit. Hope you enjoy and leave comments and feedback when you can.

"One thousand years ago, King Sombra, a unicorn whose heart was black as night, took over the Crystal Empire."
Before he was defeated by the Princesses, King Sombra reigned over the Crystal Empire with cruelty and tyranny. His rule was terrible and absolute. And even in the present day - one thousand years later - the crystal ponies still fear to speak his name.
Wow! Definitely my biggest project to date! This crown is for Fiesta Equestria's king of the fiesta. Guys, to learn more about how to aquire this crown, and become King of Fiesta, just check the registration page of their website: [link]
The Queen of Fiesta Equestria will be wearing the Element of Magic Tiara:
This life sized replica of King Sombra's Crown can be worn on the head comfortably. All hand crafted! The center band, spikes, and bottom pieces are all made from steel. The crest on the top, center of the crown is made of sterling silver and copper sheet. The gemstone in the center of the crest is hematite, set in a bezel setting. Those two slanted pieces of metal on the steel band were crafted from sterling silver sheet. All the pieces of the crown were put together through a combination of tack welding, and low temp soldering. The crest was painted red, and the steel pieces on the bottom of the crown were painted flat black. Afterwards, I applied two coats of matte finish lacquer to prevent the paint from scraping off or chipping away. As you can see from the back side picture, the crown has a strip of soft leather across the front so it can be worn comfortably, and it is also adjustable to fit almost any sized head.
If you have any other questions about the crafting process of this crown, feel free to ask!
In addition, this is the first time I've uploaded pictures that were taken with my new camera. In my opinion, there is an improvement in the picture quality, but do feel free to tell me what you think.
The King Sombra vector was supplied by [link] Thank you!
EDIT People are questioning the design of this crown. They believe that the side pieces on the bottom are part of his hair and not his crown. Here's a screenshot to prove otherwise: [link]
The newest villain to grace the MLP world. From the season premiere today! AND since I hadn't seen him before the premiere (no spoilers for me, ha ha) I think I was less disappointed than a lot of people. Since he didn't get much screentime. XD Personally, I agree it would have been nicer to see more of him - but they only had so much time to tell the story they wanted to. So I think they did a good job regardless.
Besides. I think that Sombra is evil enough that he doesn't need monologues, he doesn't need songs, he doesn't need us to even see him. He's the boogeyman, the nightmare, the shadow on the wall. HE IS YOUR FEAR.
For those who don't watch MLP, he's a tyrant king who enslaved an empire - but he was defeated, transformed into a shadowy fog monster, and sealed in ice for a thousand years. Then he returns, obviously.
SO I saw this picture in my head and just had to paint it. XD I wanted it to feel like ink, since his soul was so black...plus it's like he's crawling out of the shadows he was transformed into, and starting to regain his old power. It was so much fun to paint!
“Just as there are physical monsters, can there not be mental or psychic monsters born? The face and body may be perfect, but if a twisted gene or malformed egg can produce physical monsters, may not the same process produce a malformed soul?
Monsters are variations from the accepted normal to a greater or a less degree. As a child may be born without an arm, so one may be born without kindness or the potential of conscience. A man who loses his arms in an accident has a great struggle to adjust himself to the lack, but one born without arms suffers only from people who find him strange. Having never had arms, he cannot miss them. To a monster the norm must seem monstrous, since everyone is normal to himself. To the inner monster it must be even more obscure, since he has no visible thing to compare with others. To a criminal, honesty is foolish. You must not forget that a monster is only a variation, and that to a monster the norm is monstrous.”

Nothing too special.. but this passage was in one of my exams and it reminded me too much of Angel/Reala to just leave alone.
Uh oh, here comes trouble... Here we have the 3 pony girls corrupted by dark magic. First we have Trixie with the Alicorn Amulet from the Magic Duel, then theirs Twilight under King Sombra's spell and then theres dark magic Rarity from Inspiration Manifestation. Imagine they destruction they could do if they teamed up.
This has taken me four days... Each day about 4-6 hours... So... 24 hours. Jesus. This took a long time. Take this, and enjoy it. IF you don't I will come to your home, and tie you to the chair and until you tell me this is amazing. I won't let you blink or look away. It will be your own Weeping Angel. Got that?
On a lighter note, this is maybe one of the most complex and detailed works I've done and finished. I just wanted to do this so badly, because of how amazing it looks. I really really hope you enjoy this. Because I know I do. Story:
So what is the best place to hide a crystal? With others! Sombra found a chamber deep under his castle, filled to the breaking point with crystals that glowed from within.
All the villains I could include! Don't point out all the antagonists I missed, I am aware of them keke Gilda, Sombra, Chrysalis, Discord, Diamond Tiara, Sunset Shimmer, Trixie, and Princess Luna with plushies of all the princesses. These include in their present form, not in the form of their villain. For example Princess Luna is not Nightmare Moon, reformed Sunset Shimmer. et cetera.
The moment that solidified the destiny of one, and the empire of thousands. For within a single solitary second, he bore witness to perfection. But in its rapture, the sight of ultimate splendor stopped shining, and in its rippling wake the world only seemed to descend into featureless irrelevance.
Thus his world coalesced into a tightening frame, his synapses expelling all trivial elements outside it, and lo his whole existence fell into it.
”I’ve found it. I’ve finally found it!” the dark grey unicorn breathed as his eyes fell upon the black crystal pulsing with dark purple and green light.
He’d come from nothing and gained power through his sheer ambition. But the upper echelons of crystal pony society remained locked to him, merely because he was born of a worthless mud pony.
He, Sombra, the most powerful unicorn of the day, with a mind for strategy and a talent for magic, was put in charge of guarding the library.
Only one good thing had come from that damned library. He’d stumbled upon a description of this very crystal. The legend had said it would give a pony the power to rival the alicorn goddesses.
“And it’s mine now,” Sombra laughed coldly as he stepped up to the dark crystal. He touched his horn to it reverently, eyes closed, and instantly felt a surge of magic, melding with his own. His eyes snapped open.
The dark crystal cavern was now tinted with an eerie purple light that pulsed softly. He gingerly picked up the crystal with a telekinetic sheath.
A mind-shattering pain cracked through his head. He dropped the crystal and fell onto the floor of the cavern, curling into a ball like a foal.
For some time, he laid there on the ground, writhing in agony. Eventually, he passed into unconsciousness.
When he awoke, the crystal wasn’t in the cavern anymore. Irritated, he looked around, but it truly was just gone.
“Now I have to find the damn thing all over again,” he muttered as he turned to find the exit. Something caught his eye.
He turned, and he was facing his reflection. It was both him and not him, or, at least, not the version of himself that he was used to.
Instead of the solid grey coat, wild and unkempt mane, and crystal guard armor, he faced a grey unicorn with a startling red horn, glowing green eyes, a mane that billowed like an alicorn’s, and armor fit for a king, complete with a crown.
And he still felt a connection to the dark crystal’s power.
A wild grin spread across both his face and his reflection’s.
“I... this... this is better than I’d ever imagined.” He laughed. “With this power, I can finally kill that worthless crystal queen. I deserve her throne more that she does.”
“And with the throne, I can rule Equestria!”
Had to draw something after the season 3 two parter, so I figured I might as well draw Sombra. Despite the flaws (little screen time and what not), I absolutely loved him as a villain.
(And in the story, mud ponies are the normal, non-crystal ponies)
