Cool Breeze is a prodigy. When he was just a foal before he lost his flight just by growing up he was speeding around like a rocket. And then when he re-learned how to fly it became obvious to everypony that the kid was going far. Much was expected from him because of his parents, and much was shown. He broke the sound barrier at a similar age to Rainbow Dash, and was able to keep on doing it even afterwards unlike his mother. Flying seems so natural to him. So where is the downside? Well simple.
Even though he is an amazing flyer he was never top of his flight class. Why is that? Because Cool Breeze is really lazy. Even more than his mother ever was. Maybe it is because of his impressive skills that he gained with no work needed, but Cool Breeze has very little motivation.
