Zechariah Franklin was a big man. His affable personality and gentle face belied his six-foot-four frame leaving the impression with most people that he was smaller than he actually was and he had spent a lifetime learning to be unobtrusive. As a member of the Northclan in good standing with the Others it was important that he not draw the attention of the powers that be in the world of men. So he smiled and paid his taxes exactly on time and never got speeding tickets, and he knew how to move every ounce of his powerful frame silently and completely unseen. Not perhaps attributes he wished generally known by friends like Jack who belonged to the world of science and facts and the laws of man. Now he glided over the hot Nevada landscape towards the smell of burning civilization. He crested a hill and

The lackadaisical night in Zetetic wound on, constellations moving across the sky and some of the autochthons of Mercury Sea swam to the surface and looked at the towers that made up the floating city. Very few upholders glided about, the night watch insuring that the time of torpor was not interrupted by the city’s denizens. Not every sound can be eliminated however.
Skywarp had always thought that his ability to recharge was interesting. For as long as he could remember he had been a light recharger, sounds easily brought him to alertness. Also he never needed much recharge to properly function, he usually recharged for only a quarter of the time that other Cybertronians did. So when two upholders stepped up to the berth he was on, the Shivareen could hear their conversation. Not that he let them know he was aware, he’d rather just listen in.

The barracks were very quiet and dark, thought the glowing panes of plastic in Straightaway’s chassis provided adequate lighting as she led Skywarp, who turned out to be a dark purple and gray color, in; most of the upholders not on patrol had already engaged recharge for the night, only a few berths remained unoccupied. Sitting down at her desk, the fembot pulled out the data pad once more to continue her questioning as the bot stood in front of her. “How long do you intend to stay in Zetetic?” She demanded.
“If all goes well I would hope to only be staying for two days.” Skywarp intoned tiredly, he really wanted nothing more than to just find a berth and rest, leaving this tiring day behind him.
Straightaway noted this before continuing. “Where do you intend to be staying for that time?”
“Well… Do you really need to know where it is that I will

Straightaway rose from her recharge a short time before the time of torpor would come to a close. Softly reciting the upholders’ creed as she stepped into the main room of the barracks, the captain saw that the Seeker Skywarp appeared to still be within the hold of recharge. The orange and blue flier made her unhurried way to the arched entrance of the barracks. Looking out of the loggia, Straightaway watched as the darkness in Zetetic slowly gave way to the light of Rho Cassiopeia. The time of torpor was fast nearing its end with the coming of the light of day and the upholder decided that if he was not up by that time than she would need to awaken Skywarp so that she could finish what she had started last night, and help the outsider to secure a temporary place of lodging—hopefully without any of yestreen’s cavil.
The sound of a ped sliding across the floor caused the fembot to turn
