week 73 of . theme was to draw an imperial pony.

I knew I'd want to draw sombra sometime soon because I actually love his design and would want to be one of the guys that actually decided to draw him, which seems to be a really tiny number when compared to the unbelievable amount of art Chrysalis got immediately after her debut. Not that I have any problem with that; I love Chrysalis and her design. But Sombra... though I do agree he needs to come back and have a bit of actual screentime, I think what he *was*, design-wise, voice-wise and just terror-wise due to his heavy presence and ability to show you your greatest fear, was something quite awesome. I'd like to draw such a villain -- many times.

But for the first time, we have to cute it up, of course.

So I've had this guy for a while as my personal costume (well, my roomie wore him)! Shining Armor was made last year in time for Everfree NW, but I never got a chance for pictures! I've been holding onto him, but sadly I'm facing some bills and really need to sell him! :[

this is pretty much a remake of the flutter knight picture, [link] that i made back in september.
other than the position of fluttershy, and maybe a bit of the shading in places, this end up looking great.

Also, totally new characters. I'm haven't quite decided what the pony mare's name should be, but I'm pretty sure it has 'Cotton' in it.

Rangers tend to have strong, colourful personalities and readily integrate themselves into the local population. These same traits makes it difficult to return Rangers to regular regimented service ("Once a Ranger, always a Ranger").

Okay, so the season premiere was awesome, I loved it, the animation was GREAT, but yes, such a waste of a character, poor guy ;w;

I quite like Sombras design, though I think it could be better.

Anyway, I'm off to see Wreck It Ralph! WOOOO

We still hear his laughter of triumph in our ears...


While I was dissapointed in the design of the character (first thing I thought was some ponification TBH) and how little we got to know of him, AND the fact he barely spoke anything apart from single words, he still had enough of somethingsomething to inspirate me.
But yah, considering the real target audience and the time Sombra had to be introduced in, he sure served his purpose as a constant menacing threat in the distance with his personality alone. He didn't entirely need that oh so deep story, but at least something would've been nice when compared to earlier villains.

Played a little bit more with lighting and colors here than I usually do.

For now I can't come up with a better title, whatevs.

I love the slogan of the movie: The magic of friendship never changes. so I decided to draw both versions together in one illustration, showing that even if this film shows a radical (and though for many, not good) change, our beloved Mane 6 will remain the same, only now they are in a new "adventure".

Im worried for my beloved Shining, nothing has been the same since the wedding in Canterlot he lives in constant fear to lose me again i have told him to forget about it that nothing will separate us but is useless he doesn't listen to me some times i feel like i don't mean anything to him, that i'm just a trophy, a bird in a giant cristal cage, i miss him so much ... he hasn't slept in our bed he prefers to patrol the kingdom, my biggest fear is that is that he will do something horrible ... something that he will regret i can feel it ... tomorrow morning i'll call him to see how is he doing.

P.S. Sent a letter to Twilight, it's been a while and i need the advice of a friend.

I would like to clear a few things up for the commenters.

- I read the comic where Chrysalis comes back. I own the book. Stop telling me that Chrysalis comes back, because I KNOW! XD

- No, Sombra was not "a lifeless cloud of gas, so he was never alive to begin with." Seriously, come on. He wasn't a "cloud monster" either.

- Yes, I know about the horn fragment thing. I've known since forever. Whether or not it actually MEANS anything is up to the writers of the show.

- When Twilight and Fluttershy say "we," they refer to all of their friends who faced Sombra's wrath. This includes Spike, Cadance, Shining Armor, their use of the Crystal Heart, and all that entails.

- Is Sombra dead? Is he still alive? Will he come back? Until the writers make these decisions once and for all, ALL of our theories are wrong.

Desde el principio de la serie, Fluttershy ya tenia muchas posibilidades de ser mi pony favorita, lo primero que me hizo adorarla fue su presentacion, cuando le dice su nombre a Twilight Sparkle, y lo que termino de convencerme es cuando le quita la espina de la pata a la manticora y esta empieza a ronronear y a pegarle lametazos como si fuera un gato xD Twilight le pregunto como sabia que la manticora tenia un problema, y lo que dijo que la frase que he escrito arriba, "a veces solo necesitamos que nos muestren un poco de amabilidad."
Es o no es un encanto?? lo unico que no me llega a convencer de este dibujo es el rosa que elegi para su melena y cola, deberia haber dejado el rosita palido que use en mis primeros fanarts de ella, que se acerca mas a su color original ><

Since the beginning of the series, Fluttershy already had a good chance to be my favorite pony, the first thing that made me adore his presentation was when he said his name Twilight Sparkle, and what is finally convinced when he removes the thorn the manticore leg and it begins to purr and hit licks like a cat xD Twilight asked how he knew that the manticore had a problem, and he said that the sentence I wrote above, "sometimes we just need show a little kindness. "
Whether or not it is a charm? The only thing that managed to convince me of this drawing is pink I chose for his mane and tail, should have left the pale pink to wear in my first fanarts of it, which is closer to its original color> <

This was pretty fun, I've been hacking at it off and on for a few days in between other projects. I tried to make the colors of the older gens dim and murky and shifted red, like they're screencaps from an aging VHS copy.

You'll notice species and gender aren't consistent - in the first movie there were no male ponies, I drew the g1 first and left off the lashes to make it look male but in the other ones just kind of gave up and went with what was available. Cheated a bit with g1 friends - there were male unicorn toys, but in their single show appearance all the Big Brothers were earth ponies (and in fact, aside from color and cutie mark, had the exact same model, a cost/time saving measure) so I added a horn. Only earth ponies in Tales, and g2 had unicorn toys but not box art. The last panel is based on Unico!

I used a number of images of Unico, including a still from the first movie. In that still, he had blue eyes. This image is more in the stance of my pony which is why I included it.

If I were to do it over again, I would make his little gold hooves more prominent. I also would perhaps give him a side image. I simply removed the one on the "bait" or original pony (which had been a Baby Wavecatcher, an Avon promotional pony: [link] .)
