I have been considering buying a new tablet for quite a while. I used a Wacom Grapphire 3, size A6, and it has served me very well over the course of the 9-10 years I own it. But it got a little small as monitor sizes increased over the years, and although I figured out how to use it without risking carpal tunnel, I still thought an upgrade was due.
My options seemed limited. I never heard all that great stories about non-Wacom products, so my safest bet was to upgrade to the Intuos. A Cintiq, the screen on which you can draw directly and which I have tried out a few times at the local Mediamarkt store, just seemed beyond justification. I'm not a professional, I'm a serious hobbyist, who doesn't mind throwing down some money for a good product that I expect will last me a good number of years*, but there are limits.
