Description

Cabo Girão is a lofty sea cliff located along the southern coast of the island of Madeira, in the Portuguese archipelago of Madeira. Cabo Girão is a popular lookout point, especially after a glass-floored viewing platform was installed in October 2012. The location is a popular starting point for hikers.
It is situated less than two kilometres west from the centre of Câmara de Lobos, between the parishes of Quinta Grande and Câmara de Lobos. A diamond-shaped sea-cliff escarpment from 560 metres (1,840 ft) to 589 metres (1,932 ft) above sea level, Cabo Girão lies between two river-valleys that flow into the Atlantic Ocean. The escarpment/cliffs extend approximately three kilometres between the urban sprawl of Câmara de Lobos to the east and the river-valley of Quinta Grande in the west.
Although brochures claim that it is the second highest cliff in Europe, at least five European cliffs (Hornelen at 860 metres, Cape Enniberg at 750 metres, Vixía Herbeira at 613 metres, Preikestolen at 604 metres and Slieve League at 601 metres) are higher.

I went to check out a field fire I saw from the highway this afternoon from the highway and it turned out to be just a controlled burn (yay) but this barn was across the road from it and I had to take a picture of it :3

I finally had a chance to go to Joshua Tree National Park. And it was a fantastic place for sure. But this is only one of very few shots I was able to get before my camera took a header off my tripod mount, and smashed on the rocks.

So with that I say goodbye to a dear friend. He had been very good to me over the last few years and he will be missed dearly.

Now I have to look forward and start saving big time for another.

Some very cool winter sunset from one of our volcanoes, after we spent a lot of time to cross the broken trees blocking the way.

Bison. Perhaps the most iconic figure of the American West. Reintroduced to Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge in 2007 on 1400 acres, part of the USFWS Pilot Bison Project. The animals were transferred from the National Bison Range in Montana. It's always a special moment to be able to spend time with these animals and in this photograph, the snow had just stopped and the skies began to clear creating a beautiful scene of contrasts. I will say this much, Bison are difficult to photograph due to them being so dark, it can really challenge you cameras metering.

Lilium is a genus of herbaceous flowering plants growing from bulbs, all with large prominent flowers. Lilies are a group of flowering plants which are important in culture and literature in much of the world. Most species are native to the temperate northern hemisphere, though their range extends into the northern subtropics. Many other plants have "lily" in their common name but are not related to true lilies.

The term "lily" has in the past been applied to numerous flowering plants, often with only superficial resemblance to the true lily, including lotus, Agapanthus, Zantedeschia, daylily, and others. All English translations of the Bible render the Hebrew shūshan, shōshan, shōshannā as "lily", but the "lily among the thorns" of Song of Solomon, for instance, may be the honeysuckle.

It's a bit grained... taken with my phone so yeah.. you can't expect something brilliant ^^;

I worked for quite a while on this piece, one of those things that don't come easy.
Even it being a still image, I feel that everything is moving and rotating.

I did my best. This was a challenge for me...I had a hard time trying to think of a design for the beast, the beast being the female of course. Haha the more and more I started drawing her the more it started looking like the faun from Pan's Labyrinth. OTL I do have another pic of her with sort of a different design on my tumblr. The color scheme isn't all that different tho. The composition of this scene was based off of the part where Belle first meets the Beast and wishes to see his face. But, here the situation is where the beast almost kills the young man only to see that he isn't really afraid of her. She eventually offers him a rose. It was the first time in a long time a person has gotten so close to her. This is their moment.

One word: WHEW!! :faint:
Finally, the third and last part of my Drawing Birds tutorial. It is absolutely essential to start with part 1, which deals with the actual drawing part, as parts 2 and 3 provide a guide of things to know about roughly 100 species.
Part 1:
Part 2:

This tutorial (all 3 parts) in book form: [link]
Full tutorial list: [link]

Things that should go without saying but I'll say anyway:
The birds are not to scale relatively to each other. I would have loved to make a diagram of bird sizes relatively to a human being, but I will have to leave it as a bonus for the tutorial book – along with a few interesting species I had to cut out for space.
Obviously, not all species are represented. My semi-arbitrary selection includes:
- Birds that are likely to come up in illustration;
- Birds that are unique or unusual and may provide inspiration for fantasy;
- Birds I like too much not to include.

NO part of this tutorial may be reproduced, so don't even ask!! if you find it helpful and want to share it, simply link to it.

Just a quick tutorial I threw together while chatting with Starhorse and Wadhifitook. They cheered me up.
I draw these little guys incessently on my notebook margins. Horses leap over biology notes and gallop past art history dates. I really should start drawing something harder, like humans.
Form concept is my current eureka. I'm trying to use it more because form concept = stronger foundation drawings.
I also draw a lot of my horses with the Peruvian Paso or Andalusian body and mane, because I own a Peruvian. But I tried to keep my drawings more stock or grade body type, cause those are the kind you see most of the time.

I am in such a rut it's not funny. Plus I'm working on two comissions, so those will occupy my time for a bit. I hope this helps folks. Draw 100 of these things and post 'em. You'll get better. And I'll give you something.
