SHo is a showcase type skin for rainmeter. I was trying to figure out a way to have all the meters I like to use on my desktop, but in a way where it's not so cluttered and spread out all over the screen. A showcase, very similar to ones you might see on a website, is the best way, I think, to get it done and look great. So thanks to pixeden.com and their awesome royalty free PS resources.

Manual use :

...and now, something completely different!

That's what I've done, so far, in the last four months, only a few minutes, not every day.
Left aside my 3D works, too little time to try to do something, I rediscovered an old passion, here on DA: Rainmeter!

I used it a lot on my old computer with Windows XP and I enjoied to play with it, creating new "gadgets" as seen in Vista, but for my XP.
One year ago I had to build a new computer with Win 7, so I left Rainmeter, thinking that there were no possibility or reason to use it with the new OS.

Then I found the group here on DA and There was a new Rainmeter program for Win 7 64 Bit!

Thanks to the S.H.I.E.L.D skin, a creation by , found here, and a few images from internet of the movie "The Avengers", I made some... "slight" modification to that skin.

Now, a short description of my personalization, from top left to bottom:

- SHIELD TAG - option to add and edit text, User name and other info, changed/modified both images and upper bar.

- LARGE LAUNCHERS - added another launcher, now they are seven, for programs and/or folders, now with mouse over all the launchers under the selected will move down.

- WI-Fi - a simple meter to show signal intensity, upload, download, ID, band and protection status.

- CPU (processor) - eight bars showing each core's usage and a simple round meter for the total CPU usage visualization.

- SYSTEM RESOURCES - a simple meter to show RAM and SWAP memory used (in percentual and size) and a battery status, for Laptop and UPS, with the battery status when is used.

- SYSTEM MONITOR - reduced will show the temperatures of CPU, motherboard, chipset and GPU (video card), full will also show the temperature of Hard Disks, fan speed of CPU and GPU.
It's possible to set alarms for overheating or fan failure (only visual, the corresponding meter is highlighted with a red color).

- SMALL LAUNCHERS 2 - five launchers for programs and/or folders, as the large ones, the mouse over will move down all the launchers under the selected.

- SYSTEM TOOLS - the "geekiest" part six launchers to open Windows functions: System, Devices and Printers, Network, Card Reader and external Memories, Performance and information Tools.

- TELEMETRY - the first of the four launchers under System Tools, opens a window showing a graphic rapresentation of CPU (total and single cores), RAM and SWAP usage in the last six minutes.

- SURVEILLANCE - the second launcher opens a window showing a graphic rapresentation of Hard Disks read/write activity in the last six minutes.

- CONNECTIONS - the third launcher opens a window showing a graphic rapresentation of Wi-Fi's signal strenght and upload/download in the last six minutes.

- RECYCLER - the recycler bin, with mouse over shows number and size of deleted files, the little folder will visually show when it's empty or full.

- SYSTEM UPTIME - shows the time elapsed from the system's start.

- SHUTDOWN - added the option to change language.

- MUSIC PLAYER - only some graphic variations.

- VOLUME - untouched.

- WEATHER - this will show the weather forecast for the next three days, the actual and the today/tonight weather conditions, with temperature, humidity, UV Index, probability of rain and current wind speed.
For the moment, the weather icons are a creation by , here.

- CALENDAR - a little calendar with year indication, the days of the current month, the last days of the previous month and the first few days of the next month. It can be closed or opened.

- DATE - added the option to change language.

- SMALL LAUNCHERS - nine launchers for programs and/or folders, the mouse over will move down the selected launcher.

- OPTIONS - (that little launcher on the left) opens the option skin, where to edit all the settings, launchers, icons, Hard Disks, folders, web launchers, temperatures and alerts, weather location, the User/Other text in the TAG skin, the language...

- 24 HOUR CLOCK - added four Hard Disk indicators (visual and numerical) to the existing one, now they are five, clicking on the letter will open the corresponding disk folder. A few modifications to the web lauchers. The seconds bar is now clockwise (really easy to do) and the hour bar (the white one on the right) counts 24 hours.


As the original, middle mouse over a skin will change the color between orange, red and blue.

Weather, System Monitor, Telemetry, Surveillance and Connections are available only in orange.


Many things still to improve and to try... many more to understand and study.

Major upgrades :

First, as asking by yorgash [link] , you can now choose wich meters you want to view.
After installation, you can view 2 themes :
- Etheldrede_Project(AIO) : this is the classical Bar with all meters included - Default one -
- Etheldrede_Project(oneBYone) : this theme launches background border and some meters (but not all)... so there in the skin menu you can choose which meter you want to view. As they are draggable, you can adjust them as you want.

Second upgrade, asking by akhmedcfiej [link], some meters have 2 variants (normal or mini) : network, Hard Drive (you can now monitor them one by one or together)...

You can now also choose to align the color border at right or left.

- you can choose betweenn 11 media players,
- you can choose between outlook or Gmail for mails,


NB :
- deactivate your wifi and signal strength disappears
- unplug your laptop, and battery meter appears.

Here they are, the sequel to the popular Transparency Cursors [link] .
They were made to fit in with the aero styling of windows 7 ( I use this visual style [link] ).

To install, extract the contents of the .zip file and right click the .inf file and click install. Then, if they have not already been set, go into your start menu and type mouse into the search bar, then click enter. If you have XP you can go into the control panel and click on the mouse icon... Then select the pointers option at the top and then click the drop down menu and select Transparency 2. Then click ok and it's all done!

P.S. I don't really know how to set them on a mac... Just Google it...

Basic theme installation:

1. If you haven't already, patch your system with included 'UniversalThemePatcher'. (X86 for 32 bit systems, X64 for 64 bit systems)


2. Restart your computer (or logoff)


3. Copy 'premiere' folder to C:/WINDOWS/RESOURCES/THEMES


4. Double click the 'premiere' theme file to install the theme

Optional but seriously recommended:

1. Open up 'Extras' -> 'Explorer Frames' and double click 'InstallTakeOwnership' (you can run 'RemoveTakeOwership' afterwards if you want once we're done)


2. In the 'Explorer Frames' folder, open the appropriate 'xxBIT' folder for your computer and copy the folder(s) to C:/WINDOWS
   ^ you will need to right click and take ownership of the applicable files in C:/WINDOWS if you get any permission errors


3. Open up 'Extras' -> 'Start button' and run 'Windows 7 Start Button Changer v 2.6' as administrator and click the start orb to change the image 'startbutton.bmp'


4. Open up 'Extras' -> 'Logon' and run 'TweaksLogon' to change the logon background image to 'PUREMINIMAL.jpg'

Yea my second collab ever. I really like how this came out! Pr3t3nd3r showed me a wip of a piece he was working on and I fell in love! So we were suddenly involved in a big collab! We went for a surreal and dreamy piece with nice colors.

We exchanged psd's a lot and worked on it for a month or so. I think the result is one to be seen and *Pr3t3nd3r did an awesome job! Go check him out!

After messing a lot of my time, finally i had finishing this theme completely. This theme was a half-minimal concept with white resources in many parts, did it as clean as possible. This skin was taking the longest period to finish among my other skin because I need to check many parts that I haven't touch yet before. This is some sort of fractal manipulation, the original was "Fractal Activity -CME" made using ’s Apophysis 7X v.15b (Get the latest version at his site)
I modified the colouring and added the signature in Photoshop.
Made specially for ~fractal2cry after a comment she made in the other fractal.
