Several months ago, I posted a similar shot from this morning that I took with my Nikon.  Well, here's a scan of my favorite slide from this morning (and one of my favorites of the year).  As you can see, I got some really nice light on this August morning.  I'd love to get back here at some point in September with the aspens turning yellow and some snow on the peak, but I certainly can't complain about the beauty of the San Juans in the summer.

I posted the vertical version of this scene a few weeks ago, but I also managed to get a horizontal version. This is it, one of best sunrises I can remember!

There are certain scenes, moments, and feelings in life which linger on in your memory. Like catching the eye of the one you fall in love with, the first kiss, holding hands and watching the sunset, hearing the first piece of music send a chill down your spine, which then forms your favourite band, musician, or genre. These are the types of things that stay with you the rest of your life; things you can look back upon and smile with a light heart.

My life's goal is to capture precious light -- whether it be in the form of photons that have potentially travelled millions of years to fall upon my camera's sensor from the most distant celestial wonders, to the light that travels 8 minutes from our own star, to strike the Earth in the guise of a beautiful sunrise -- when I do capture something special, it lingers within me and leaves a lasting impression.

This scene was captured after 3 days of waiting for the right light. I feel very lucky and blessed to have been able to witness (and, experience) one of the, if not, the most beautiful sunrise I have ever seen, at one of the most remote, primal and pristine places left in the world -- Milford Sound.

To give you an idea as to the sheer scale of this place, the waterfall that you can see at centre right (Stirling Falls) is approximately 8 km away.

With the soft light illuminating the clouds from the western horizon to the east and to the south behind me, in a gorgeous pink, it is something that I will never forget.

The 5D Mark II remains a landscape eating machine.

I headed out to a local spot this morning, the sky was heavy with rain and the sun made a brief appearance but the heavens faded back to a somber grey fairly quickly.

Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, France

Dawn above the highest European peaks in the French Alps. While the deeply cut Chamonix Valley is still covered in clouds, first sunlight reaches the summits of Aiguille Verte (4122 m), Grand Jorasses (4204 m) and Mont Blanc (4810 m) (from left).

This photo of the Matterhorn taken on a cold evening in October conveys a mystic atmosphere. After the first snowfall, the Stelli Lake is slightly snow-covered but still ice-free. The long exposure captures the moving clouds above the mountain tops of the Valais Alps.

The first rays of the rising sun are touching the peaks of the Swiss Alps. This shot shows the rising sun just below the mountain top of the 3610-meter high Üsseren Barrhorn (left). It also offers a view stretching from the mountain peaks of the Bernese Oberland and the Aletsch area all the way to the Rhone Valley and the very first peaks of the Mischabel Mountain Range.

Explore the World You Live In - Carlsbad 2014

Man ahha this shot has a story behind it! I was on the rocks at carlsbad and i had a certain image in my head so i tried to re-create it but when i was trying to do so it wasn't coming out how i wanted. The sun was already falling so i didn't have that much time to set up a shot. Got me really freaking nervous haha so i just jumped down from rock to rock until i got super close to the water! Plus these rocks were super slippery i kept sliding everywhere even when i was shooting the picture! After the sun fell under the horizon i just realized how am i suppose to get out lol! Carrying a tripod down was a lot easier then carrying it up because of the rocks. There happen to be a guy walking on the rocks as well to help me out haha if not i would be floating off to sea! I freaking love beachscapes its such a rush and so different from anytthing else. Can't wait to travel down the coast! Thanks for reading

Creating art by combining elements of beauty...
Our universe and our memorial...

Info on the Memorial piece:
Description of Work:
A giant fisherman's needle is the centre point of the stone compass rose engraved with the names of local fisherman lost at sea.

Artist Statement:
The primary factor determining the design for the Memorial was the circular format. It allowed us to gracefully portray the 1st of three core concepts we were working with:
- a fluid, continuous and repeating cycles of Nature, which We (humans) are integral part of, suggested by a layout that had no beginning or end,

The other two were more about elements and content of the design:
- the magnitude of the Oceans, and how We are humbled by its power, by making the fishing vessel relatively small in proportion the overall size of the design,
- the delicate balance of the ecosystem and the interdependence of all life forms including that of Humans, depicted by the many elements of marine life.
