I got the tip that doing some fanart can be good for art frustration. So here's my shot at Katara from Avatar the Last Airbender.

Actually, it worked as a good cure for the frustration! And I needed to practice painting water, which was so much fun!
Some things are still bugging me in this, but I'm tired of looking at it after 15 hours, haha.

Edit: decided to push those 15 hours into 18. Wanted to do Katara's face justice - and get rid of the irritation I felt over it, haha.

Edit 2: darkened her skin finally

Oh, and Katara does not belong to me, but to the creators of her and the show.

Because Katara is more than badass enough to deserve her own tribute, free of things like shipping that only serve to cloud and confuse her Pure Awesome. Seriously, what with Zutara and Jetara and Kataang, I forgot how much I loved Katara, in and of herself, without getting her name contorted in some weird amalgamation. (Although, really, it's no wonder she's a fandom bicycle...I mean, c'mon, she's just that fantastic.)

So here's to you, Katara.

No bashing of her will be tolerated in any comments. If you don't like her, don't hang around long enough to tell me.

My first attempt at digital painting. Hopefully it turned out okay... I like it, in any event! Especially the fang fasteners on her boots, haha. And if it weren't obvious, she's older here. Older and MOAR BADASS THAN EVAH, in my opinion. But I'm the artist, so let's face it, I'm biased.

Original is watercolour. This is cropped. The original piece didn't end up as tight in the composition and felt boring, so I cropped it here for your viewing pleasure. I wish it was more interesting. Zuko's outfit is also not accurate. Ah well.

Korra, from the tv show Legend of Korra. This is watercolour.

I blasted through finishing this, so there are some issues with the piece.

Her hands and arms are a bit weird, but it was too late to change them.

The trails of water and fire are similar to that seen in the official art. I think I would change the fire in this if I did the piece over.

Girl's heart is just like make of water, changeable and sensitive, and once it is Spilted it can't be gathered up again. Korra is the Avatar, also a water bender and a girl after all.

Haha, look at my American attempt at kanji! And kanji isn't even what they write with in the Avatar-verse. Oh well. It looks nice, anyway, and I am led to believe it means 'eternal peaceful love' or something to that extent, because Zuko really needs some peace, you know?

First started this piece a little over a year ago... I had trouble
with Zuko's body, and I was continuously re-painting this piece.
Took it out again today, and BAM, everything was just working.
Really enjoyed painting it this evening!

I didn't draw Aang in there...because then I'd have to draw every Avatar and I don't really want to do that... I'm going to draw firebenders next

Couldn't fit the others in because my canvas was at maximum size

Iroh II is doing it wrong and Mako just looks silly... And the only one who is even remotely enjoying this is uncle Iroh...XD
