I realize after rereading that this post might be taken as very accusatory... I am NOT out to discredit Nuzlocke storytelling as a whole, I'm out to explore the way we tell stories and the mechanisms we sometimes use to do that. The 'givens' I describe here are also called Acceptable Breaks from Reality. I don't think these mechanisms are at all 'wrong' just because they might have unfortunate implications attached, and besides, the unfortunate implications CAN be remedied or subverted with some critical thinking and plot prodding if the author really thinks it's necessary. Things are progressing fairly normally for me which means there's not a lot of exciting news to report or any major casualties which means this journal should hopefully be short.
Since pokemon X and Y came out last year I have been casually playing both, with my attention diverting more to X after pokebank was released since my copy of Y is a digital download that is taking up a lot of the space on the SD card in my 3DS so it's interfering with DLC I've purchased for other games as well as the much needed updates and other downloaded software I had to delete to make room for it.
On a different note, I am currently working on a small game of my own design using RPG maker VXAce which is a delightful piece of software I purchased through steam and I am slowly making progress with the only real reason for any delays being creating all the individual enemies and their NPC counterparts.
