My first Warhammer Invasion card, for the Morrslieb-cycle

I think I painted this one about...almost a year ago. Somewhere in spring 2010.

Anyways, The article is here:

[link]

The image shown here is somewhat bigger then on the card, but nowhere close to as big as the original.
It gets a bitt blurry at those sizes...

Enjoy.

"Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game is a card game by Eric M. Lang in which 2 players develop their kingdoms and lay waste to their foes. The Emperor of Mankind
WS: 10
BS: 10
S: 10
T: 10
W: 10
A: 10
I: 10
Ld: 10
Sv: 2+/2+

Special Rules: Superhuman Presence, The Hope of Mankind, Master-Psyker, Golden Light, Psychic Empowerment, God Amongst Men, Primarch, Gargantuan Creature ((except for movement, outnumbering, and the end of the assault rule).
Wargear: Offensive and Defensive Grenades, The Eagle's Talon, The Flaming Sword.

Superhuman Presence: The Emperor is the pinnacle of all that Mankind can hope to be - impossibly beautiful, flawless in form. Such is his presence on the field of battle that any friendly model with LOS to the Emperor counts as Fearless, gains +1 A, and may use his leadership value for leadership tests.

The Eagle's Talon: A mastery of craftsmanship, the Eagle's Talon is one of the symbols of the Emperor's power as much as it is a potent weapon in its own right. It makes the Emperor's attacks reroll to wound in close-combat.

The Flaming Sword: A blade constantly wreathed in arcing, billowing fire, the Emperor's favored blade is an extension of both his arm and mind. As such, the Emperor's attacks in close-combat hit on a 3+, reroll to hit, and inflict instant death. In addition, he may shoot out a blast of flame once per turn as a normal shooting attack with the following profile.

S: 9   AP: 1   Assault 1, Blast   24"

The Hope of Mankind: The Emperor represent what every man aspires to be - he is the collective Might of Humanity in a physical shell, and is the shepherd of Mankind's hopes and dreams. Any friendly model within 24" of the Emperor may pass or fail leadership tests should they wish to without a leadership test. However, the Emperor is the physical embodiment of the hopes and wishes of mankind - should he fall in battle, all friendly models of the Imperium (Sisters of Silence, Space Marines, Imperial Guard, Adeptus Mechanicus) will suffer a -1 A and -1 ld penalty for one turn, as well as falling back 2d6 inches. The Emperor's body counts as an objective for the remainder of the game.

Master-Psyker: The Emperor is renowned for his blazing psychic might. Indeed, it is the light of his mind that allows the ships of Humanity to traverse the stars. The Emperor may cast 5 psychic powers a turn, may choose different targets for each spell, and automatically passes all psychic tests.

Golden Light: The Emperor is constantly shrouded in a flickering corona of golden light that shrouds him from his foes. All hits against the Emperor are made at -1 on the to-hit rolls.

Psychic Empowerment: Any spell cast by the Emperor other than those specific to him are improved, strengthened by his incredible Psychic might. All spells have their Strength and AP improved by 1, their range increased by 6", and have their number of shots increased by D3. Any spell using a template will have its template size increased by 1, and they do not scatter.

God Amongst Men: The Emperor may make both his armor and invulnerable save, and neither of them can ever be ignored.

Psychic Powers: The Emperor has access to all Imperial spells, in addition to the following powers.

Golden Gaze: The Emperor directs his fiery gaze towards his enemies, beams of Psychic light shooting forth that burns through even the toughest armor with incredible ease.
S: 8    AP: 1   2D6 Armor Penetration    Assault 5    24"

Machine, Heal Thyself: With this simple command, the Emperor places his palm against the armor of a vehicle. Circuits knit back together, armor plates bend back into shape, and weapon systems are restored. Any friendly vehicle within base contact of the Emperor has all damages repaired (short of destroyed vehicles), and Super-Heavy vehicles recover up to 3 Structure Points in addition to having damages repaired.

Tempest of Light: With a flick of his wrist, the Emperor brings a sphere of burning light into being that crisps flesh as much as it blinds the eyes.
S: 8    AP: 4    Assault 1, 7", Pinning    42"

Fiery Nova: A wave of crackling, immaterial flames bursts outwards in all directions from the Emperor to destroy his enemies but leave his allies unharmed. Center the 10" template over the Emperor and use the following profile.
S: 8    AP: 1    Assault 1, 10" Blast    Centered Over Emperor

The Wrathful Eagle: The Light surrounding the Emperor burns even brighter than normal, and soon takes on the silhouette of a great Eagle before he blazes forward in a frightening burst of speed, burning through enemies, tanks, and buildings, and energy fields alike. Ignores invulnerable saves.

S: 10   AP: 1   Assault 1, Lance   18+4D6"

Storm of the Emperor's Wrath: With a wordless snarl, the Emperor conjures a crackling, serpentine spear of psionic lightning - the earliest symbol of his great power - that he casts into his enemies. This snaking chain of electrical energy jumps from enemy to enemy, burning away skin and charring bone. Target an enemy unit. Every model in the unit takes an automatic wound that ignores armor saves, and any vehicle takes D6 Penetrating hits, and is automatically stunned. In addition, after all wounds have been resolved, it jumps to another unit behind the target unit that is within 12" of the unit before it. This process repeats until the lightning has gone out of 48" range of the Emperor.

---------------------------------

May bring a bodyguard of 6 Custodes Centurions or 4 Custodes Captains

Moves, Runs, and Assaults 9", as does any unit the Emperor is attached to.

May Pass or Fail Leadership Tests at will.
Notes: Why 10 across the board? Because a while ago, Games WOrkshop said that if anyone ever made a profile for the Emperor, that's how he should be represented.

Spells are extremely powerful, I know. THey should be. He's the freaking Emperor.

Why can't his saves be ignored? Because he's the freaking Emperor.

If you haven't seen the Legend of Korra Series finale, then just take this as another bit of fan art.  But for those who have?

Yeah...about that Legend of Korra Series Finale?  while never truly implied yes or no, who cares?  the fandom will enjoy what it wants (or tear down what it doesn't)

myself?  i rather enjoyed the whole event, with hands together in future adventures.

Oh, i'm trying something new.  Wanna buy the original?  i typically post my original works and sketches in progress on  my Instagram, but if anyone would like to own the original piece of work, feel free to message me here.

Even against insurmountable odds, we don't leave our people behind.

Our heroes trying to evac survivors of a crash landing as a sandstorm and The Flood/Necromorph horde closes in around them. I'm gonna be honest, the entire time I worked on this I kept imagining the real reason why the Enterprise was destroyed was because of Pauly Shore dressed as a US Recon firing an RPG-7 the wrong way.

This is my Dark Heresy roleplaying character Octia Mardeno. A paranoid adept and a rouge psyker examining something that she obviously shouldn't.

Done in PS with some help and encouragement from *Verdokai

The crux with the pictures was to get a hood, sholderpads, cleavage, and lots and lots of sculls into the one piece of clothing. Please notice the scullbuttons.

Emma Verondi, Forge World Adept

We don't really know much about her at this point. She's spent most of her life secluded in a library, so she's a bit sheltered. She has funny hair and seems to be the friendliest of the party, as well as the one with the least mental issues and the nicest personality. This probably means she is likely to die.

Recently came up with a new Dark Heresy character idea...had some time to do so, because my Laptop is currently in the process of dying (the GPU is already effectively dead).

Name: Taura "Hex" Haxtes
Homeworld: Blighted Schola
Career: Adept
Advance Ranks: Verispex Adept (1), and Legate Investigator (4)
Description: (Imperial Parents) Dark Skin, Nose Piercing, Green Eyes, Svelte Figure
Divination: "Mutation Within, Corruption Without"

Taura Haxtes was raised in the Schola Progenium, and experimented upon by a radical Instructor who forced his charges to study forbidden lore, view dark and horrifying imagery, and participate in genetic and cybernetic experimentation that was definitely heretical in nature. Taura managed to escape and want to ground, using a variety of identities to hide herself in the hives beyond the Progenium campus.

She was eventually found however by an Inquisitor who was investigating rumours of heresy within the Progenium, and after Taura assisted in taking down her former Instructor, she was institutionalized by the Inquinsition to determine her status as one of the few remaining survivors of the Instructor's machinations, and if she had any guilt or withheld knowledge about such things. She was miraculously found innocent of all but one charge (that she was a mutant...a side effect of the Instructor's genetic modification and surgeries resulted in abnormalities in the pain-receptors and nerves, meaning that Taura never felt pain), and was spared from that last charge by the grace of the Inquisitor who had found her.

Instead, Taura was trained in the Tricorn Palace as a Verispex Adept, applying her brilliant and analytical mind to criminal analysis. She worked with the Adeptus Arbites for a few years, gaining field experience in bringing down the scum of the Imperium, and when she was determined to be ready, was assigned to an Acolyte Cell within the Inquisition. Incredibly loyal to the Inquisition and possessing an adamantine will to match her monofilament-edged mind, Taura eventually rose to the rank of Legate Investigator, essentially an Acolyte Lieutenant, granted a sign of office and some of the power and authority of an actual Inquisitor.

When she graduated from the Tricorn Palace and assigned to work in the field with the Arbites, she was given a Dottir-Pattern Revolver, which she still uses as a primary side-arm. Her primary weapon however is a concealed and compact affair, an intricately made and maintained Memoryn-Pattern Athenas-MkII-Variant Shotgun Glove, with an attached compact Hotshot Las-module and a retractable mono-edged utility saw. The Mark-II variant came with a hook-up system to allow it to interface with the Mind-Impulse-Unit cybernetic implant that Taura received during her Verispex service, and it's concealability provides Taura with a rather powerful close quarters surprise for any who would think less of her less muscular frame. She may not be the strongest servent of the Inquisition out there, but every punch she delivers comes with a devastating 10-ga bonus.

Her primary strength however, remains her schooling in and encyclopedic knowledge of both Natural Philsophies, technical rituals (learned from the Tech-Priests who crafted and instructed her in the use of, her Verispex equipment), and darker, less natural subjects. She's also a skilled in the arts of infiltration, assisted by her background as posing as other people to hide from the Schola and the creation of false documents to match.

Her personal charm is a small scapel-like knife, inscribed with Imperial litanies. Taura's experiences and the revelation of her own corruption at the hands of the Schola, have left her a little unhinged and she often seeks solace as a Flagellant...instead of whipping herself however as other Flagellants do, she cuts into her arms, just above her cybernetics, or her legs with the knife. An attempt to "bleed out the mutant" as it where. She may not feel the pain that the other Flagellants revel in, but the obsessive ritual does focus her mind and mental strength...Taura has been known to harness this to fend off multiple witches and heretical cult sorcerers in her career, who tried to bend her mind to their will. After fending off such assaults, Taura's response is usually to punch them. From across the room. With lead.

=-----=

EDIT: Woops! I almost forgot to credit the deviant who's stock picture I used to map the skeletal stance and base proportions! Thank you, :iconfaestock: !

EDIT II: Updated with a larger resolution that shows more of the detail work and has less "corruption" of the data.

I've had the pleasure of writing with a friend recently who has neatly filled a nasty little void I'd had for the past year and some change. She's lovely and she writes me things. Below is something she wrote for these two- a stormtrooper of mine (and brother of Talon's, if he looks familiar) and his adopted daughter.

Some other mentioned characters - Jaspar, former infiltrator and wife of Tarick, a rather patriotic Cadian and acolyte for a rather chill Ordos Xenos Inquisitor. Jaspar usually gets stuck behind with the youth of the cabal when they're out doing their thing. Spires is Regis's Fenksworld native and IG partner, Tarick is Regis's chubby-butt brother.

Now enjoy her delicious writing, as I so often dooo.

--

Jaspar frowned to herself as she made her way through the halls of the mansion, peeking down side-corridors and into hidey-holes as she went. She knew the girl couldn’t get anywhere that would really be of any danger to her; the labs were locked off, all of the children could swim and the aviary-servitors were set to alert for any signs of distress in the ponds. But it was still worrying that she’d slipped out of their hab in the night without managing to wake any of them. After all, Regis and Spires had left their daughter in Jaspar and Tarick’s care, and if something happened to her - even some freak accident - then the former infiltrator knew she would never be able to forgive herself: she was the light of their lives.

Aegis padded at her side, his blocky, grey-merled head held low as if ashamed for his lapse in letting one of his charges escape his protection. He snuffled at the floor occasionally, trying to give search for signs but the children all capered through the halls so frequently that traces of them overlaid traces, and the ageing hound soon gave up, giving a snorting whff that sounded almost humanly disappointed. She reached down to scruff his ears and smiled gently “It’s okay boy, she can’t have gone far…”

As she made her way down into the grand entrance hall, she paused for a second in thought. Tarick had received a vox transmission the night before, letting him know that the troops were on their way back and should be arriving within the next twelve hours. The girls had been in bed when he’d told her, but she wondered if little ears had overheard the adults talking when they should have been asleep…

Taking a smallish side-corridor that led off from the main hall, she made her way down a gently sloping hall toward the shuttle bays. Once she’d gotten the thought in mind, it didn’t take long to track down her quarry, spotting the small, huddled figure cuddled up against the wall across the hall from one of the shuttle bay exits, everpresent stuffed stormtrooper acting as a pillow for her coppery head. Jaspar smiled crookedly as she gave Aegis the hand gesture to sit and tiptoed gently toward the little girl.

Crystal blue eyes blinked sleepily open as the small head lifted from her toy. She raised a hand and rubbed at her eyes with the side of her fist, yawning “‘ntie Jazz?”

“Hey there honey…” Jaspar sat down on the carpet next to her niece and gestured for her to come over into her lap. The girl obliged, shuffling over and climbing into Jaspar’s arms, folding surprisingly delicate and lanky arms and legs in on herself as she nestled into the the slight curve of her Aunt’s newly-pregnant belly “What are you doing down here? You had your Uncle and I worried when we couldn’t find you, you know…”

There was a small noise and a moment of silence before the soft little voice piped up again “M’sorry Auntie Jazz. I… I had a dream that Daddy and Papa was coming home and I wanned to come see them… An I got here an’ I couldn’t see them an’ I din’t wanna miss them… an’ I was sleepy…”

Pushing the silky copper locks away from the girl’s pale face, Jaspar kept her voice light even as a small chill of discomfort trickled down her spine. It was probably a coincidence, she’d most likely overheard Tarick and Jaspar discussing Regis and Spires’ imminent return and in her sleepy state had attributed it to or incorporated it into a dream. That was all. “Well yes, your Daddy and your Papa are coming home, but you didn’t have to come down and wait for them. They’re coming home, so they’d be coming straight to you anyway, and they’re not due in for…”

As she spoke, Jaspar noticed that the indicator runes above the shuttle bay airlock had changed from red to amber, indicating that a shuttle had recently docked and that atmosphere exchange was occurring. She raised an eyebrow and keyed up the house’s automatic systems on the vox, querying what shuttle from what ship had arrived.

++Shuttle designation Triumphant Faithful from the Glory of Cadia completing atmosphere exchange and pressure equalisation++

The Glory was the ship that Tarick had purchased with Elle’s grace after his promotion to full Interrogator. It had been sent out with the troops to intercept an Ork Raider that was making a nuisance of itself around the Fydae system and had recently translated back in-system after the completion of that mission. The ship itself would have continued on to Port Wander with the bulk of the men, though the Lads would have returned immediately back to the Aerie - not least of all because Regis would have been champing at the bit to return to his little princess.

Almost as if summoning the gentle giant of a man, the runes above the airlock door flashed to green. The little girl wriggled from her Aunt’s arms and scrambled gracefully to her feet, clutching her stuffie to her chest as the airlock door slid open. The light from within the airlock momentarily occluded by the armoured form waiting as if he’d been pressed against the door.

Regis didn’t seem at all surprised to see Jaspar or his daughter there. Two swift strides had pulled him out from the airlock and nearly across the hall, where he dropped immediately into a kneel. He reached for his little girl as she stepped up to him and leaned into his embrace, pressing her forehead tightly to his. As the others filtered out behind him in a clatter of armour and weapons he simply smiled, closing his eyes as one armour-clad arm nestled around the tiny form before him.

“Hello Angel…” He rumbled gently “You were good for Auntie Jazz and Uncle Tarick?”

The tiny head nodded “Uh huh…”

“Did you brush your teeth and say your prayers?”

Another small nod and shy little smile “I prayed for you, Papa.”

“That’s my girl.”

The Imperial Guard relief force marched through the city gates with crowds of the native inhabitants looking on. But there was little cheering or celebrating.
The grim-looking army was not the angels of salvation that the people had thought they would be. Rather, they were silent, lifeless beings that spared the people not even a single glance as they marched by. The peoples faces grew nearly as dreary as the soldiers masks as they realized that their saviors were not like angels, but more like walking corpses.

But through the crowd of bleak and cheerless faces, a bright and sunny one appeared.
'Why is everyone so afraid of them,' she thought, 'when they're here to save us? We should be thankful.'
She leaned over the side and reached out to the nearest passing soldier, holding one of the summer flowers she had gathered.

'These are for someone else, but you can have one.' she said cheerfully.
The soldier hesitated for a moment, looking at the gift being presented to him, then he moved back into formation. He didn't take it, but she was sure that he wanted to.
Her grandmother frantically pulled her back and began scolding her. She didn't listen, she just put the flower back with the rest and stepped back, her smile unchanged.

Both a personal concept piece and tribute to the Night Lords. (I hope to build a character as close as I can to this once Eternal Crusade comes out :) )

The idea for a 'heavy' fast mover always intrigued me, given my stun throwing and knife spamming playstyle in COD back in the day which I hope to bring to EC in the form of a Raptor class.

Here I was inspired by the idea of a 'balanced/non-imba' "Heavy Raptor" character that operates on a literal "fight-or-flight" mechanic, with little room to change or combine tactics once engaged in full-on combat, and favours positioning and reflex oriented playstyle.

The core mechanics:
1) Replace the standard armour value with a quick recharging shield.
2) The shield value also shares the same energy as the flightpack.
3) Mobility on foot is increased due to reduction in armour mass.

So by design, Nostos is essentially a "lightweight" armourless Raptor in nature, but given the electro-reactive armour /ERA mechanic, uses flightpack energy to create a rehargeable shield that replaces conventional armour, theoretically making him "heavy" by compounded armour values over time. On the "lightweight" hand, he is much faster to kill under accurate, sustained fire than your standard raptor. On the "heavy" hand, allow him to escape, and he comes back fresh as before you opened fire.

If he is hit, the suit energy drain dramatically reduces his ability to utilise his flightpack or psycho-warfare systems. Once he absorbs enough oncoming fire, his flight pack is 'grounded' and while waiting for it to recharge, has to fight tooth and nail to regain a tactical advantage. If he takes off, with whatever juice he has, accurate fire will drop him from the sky as well.

The ideal playstyle is to be nimble, mindful of positioning, picking fights and taking calculated risks in full-on assaults, being aware to manage electro armour/flightpack drain. The safest (cowardly) play is a combination of loitering while avoiding AA fire, picking out targets, then diving in for high speed DFAs, and taking off, factoring a few hits here and there.

The most fun play, I imagine, is dropping straight in and letting the energy go into absorbing damage, exploiting foot mobility and short bursts, vectoring around hostiles and going for melee takedowns, like the Night Raptors of lore :D

Fluff wise, I thought having his superconducting bolters creates a random 'microstun' effect on targets that are hit would be quite fun and annoying too, allowing him to play a loiter-support role if need be. :)

This was done about a year back, the challenge was to portray a world on its knees having been steamrolled by the Crimson Slaughter and their chaos auxiliaries.
Burning flags and corpse-mounds and demons picking apart stragglers mid-flight! When asked what other ideas he'd like to see, Darius Hinks requested a foot to be placed on the head of a fallen marine and so on it went onto the face of a Dark Angel. :)

Here's the end results of a collaboration with Christopher Glas Studios (Hypercats.net). I think it was a great job for a scratch-build and basically a prototype. I'mm probably fool with the paint some more, but this is basically 99% done :)

It still functions and has a shortened 18rd (now effectively 8-10 rds) mag.

The counter shows a static round count. I'm trying to find a smoke colored clear plastic to put over the counter because I think that makes the numbers show better in daylight

this is a combination of parts i made and parts i took from Relic's Dawn of War II and Space Marine, and boy did it take a while

to be more specific:

Space Marine: some textures, the Heavy Bolters, and the Lascannons on the sides; parts of them anyway, because they were heavily redesigned
Dawn of War II: Demolisher cannon and the armor around it, turret pintles, fuel barrels, track wheel mounts on the front, some textures

the rest i modeled myself, and made new textures where existing Dawn of War II tank textures couldn't be used

i'm going to write a pretty long journal post detailing the current state and the future of the Space Marine project

Breaking the radio silence! Finally got approval to release some screen friendlier versions of the Soul Drinker's covers I did for Black Library back in December; also a big shout out to Darius Hinks at Black Library/GW for being a great producer/art director on this!

"Semi glossy Purple in battle" was quite the challenge to work with for me, and I hope I did the Soul Drinkers justice to all you SD fans out there!

The general brief for the 3 covers was to have a tactical space marine, a captain, and lastly a dreadnought (being awoken). I thought it would be a neat idea to compose all the covers from a similar worms eye angle, not just for theatrics but rather to literally show the life cycle of a Space Marine as he fights and rises through the ranks, leading his brethren and eventually being entombed within a dreadnought to continue his tireless fight. I was told not to reference any notable characters of the SD lore and come up with my own designs. As such, a mini easter egg I had going just for shits and giggles was instead of the main character on each cover becoming the character in the subsequent cover, it was the background marine that made the evolution, implying that maybe the 'cover' characters never survived the cut. Whatevs. :| I hope you enjoy them regardless!

-Things noted about censorship in the world of 40K: Blowing off limbs with 25mm HEIT is o.k in general but slicing off Dark Eldar heads isn't. ;)
