Ode to James T. KirkMore Like This
Caesar of the stars,
Horatio in space.
Spent some time on Mars,
Came from another place.
Dashing, brave and true,
you made us dream again.
An earth so ever new,
where everyone's a friend.
Yet danger lurked out where,
no man had gone before.
Spock and Bones made quite a pair,
your friends forevermore.
In you we see ourselves,
explorers to the end.
In space our yearning dwells,
till then we'll just pretend.

TetragrammatonMore Like This
The sacred name Thou hast taken unto Thine self
and hast revealed to the sons of men,
sages long ago concealed and placed upon a shelf
out of fear, lest it be used in vain.
But Thy beauteous name Thou would set unchained
from the shackles of superstition,
for in Thy Holy Word it was clearly ordained;
truth would triumph over tradition.
For the sake of Thy name didst Thy Son take a chance,
boldly proclaiming to everyone.
Yea, before the end of these days of ignorance,
the light must shine as the noonday sun.

Hope... an ode to NewtownMore Like This
Soon this old world will come to its end.
Yet worry not, for then, only then,
can peace and love forever endure;
a new world of hope, its coming is sure!
listen...
Never to sorrow or cry out in pain
for the loss of a child, ever again!
The blessing of Jah will make all things new.
Yes, I want to live there, how about you?

Child of NewtownMore Like This
The last time I saw you; your face, etched forever in my memory.
Those eyes, so wise, and yet loving. Your laugh, yes that laugh,
how can I ever forget! The memories we shared of good times
(sure, there were tough times too), frolicking in the wood, dancing
in the sand together, always together. You and me, me and you, living and
loving, sharing the best of times.
Will I see you again? Will we sing together again? Your favorite songs,
I know them all, word for word. I could sing them in my sleep, or recite your
favorite stories with one hand tied behind my back. Eating ice cream with you on a warm
summer night; the very best of times

Affirmation (Dreams of a Prince)More Like This
The days come and go as the earth spins around
and my life moves along to its end.
But while I am here I will stand on my ground
and fight for my family and friends.
I believe in myself and in what I believe
but at times I find that I'm stuck.
I want to do right but my thoughts make me grieve
when I think of all my bad luck!
Then at night I lay down and fall fast asleep
while my dreams swim around in my head.
I have to admit that my dreams can be deep
and quite often they fill me with dread.
Still, I know deep inside that I am who I am
and that nothing will cause me to fail.
to be a just and good king is part of my plan

The Tormented ClownMore Like This
They'd come far and wide to see him perform,
for him to be careful just wasn't the norm.
He'd flip and flop and then roll on the ground,
he'd do crazy stunts when they were around.
The smile on his face was painted for them,
he loved to get laughs, all eyes were on him.
But when he was done at the end of the night,
He'd go home to his bed and turn on the light.
For at night there were ghosts and shadows to haunt,
he'd hear voices call out, it's him they would taunt!
If only they knew what his life really was;
a tormented clown, wouldn't that give them pause?

The toad that wouldn't leaveMore Like This
What a romp we've had the party was great,
the dancing, the song, and the cheer!
But right about now it's getting too late
for more food, more fun, and more beer.
Soon all the guests say their final goodbyes
and say thanks, give hugs, and the like.
The last two to leave are Sal and her guy,
time for cleanup, a bath, and goodnight.
As I climbed into bed I felt a strange bump,
it was warm, kinda lumpy, and weird.
I pulled down the sheets and here it was Hump,
a friend, an old buddy I'd hired!
Now look Hump I said the party's long done,
they've left, we've bathed, now we're tired.
Can't you see that it's now a quarter past one?

The HawkMore Like This
"Run, run, run little toad,
vain is your attempt to flee.
I'm a hunter supreme,
I'm quick and I'm mean,
today you'll be supper for me."
"Away, away, away evil hawk,
you'll never catch up with me.
I'm fast for my size,
I'm agile and wise,
I'll not be dinner you'll see."
"Hide, hide, hide little toad,
fine vision was granted to me.
You'll not get away,
though try as you may,
I see you there under that tree."
"Try, try, try evil hawk,
a hole I have found so I'm free.
I'm smarter than you,
this refuge will do,
today I'm so glad to be me!"
