OF : Angels Fell First : Covenant (Prologue)More Like This
She ran, her heart pumping and the crying babe in her arms growing heavier. The pain in her lower abdomen was like hot fire escaping all over her body. Her legs fought her desire to keep moving and she hugged her son tighter. She couldn’t stop now, not now. Gritting her teeth, she broke into a sprint. Limbs tore at her face and arms, their wicked thorns biting into her skin. Above her, the red moon shone brightly in the night, lighting the path ahead.
“Only a little farther, my son.” She panted into his silver hair.
He clung to her, his tiny fingers curling into the folds of her dress. His cry hurt her ears, but the pain was a pleasant reminder that he was still alive.
They’d meant to kill him, this alien child that had grown in her belly—her child. Regardless of his blood, she loved him. He was hers, her son. Instinctively, she adjusted her arms, wrapping them tighter around him, and kissed his forehead.
Abruptly, the path dipped low into a ravine. Swamp
Face in the RainMy heart is racingMore Like This
A disjointed and chaotic hammering.
The air is heavy with him,
Like a suffocating smoke,
A deafening roar
Is this what it feels like,
To be ripped from Truth?
To be drown in your deceit,
My arms reaching.
My minda cacophony of lunacy,
And desperate provocation.
The pent-up spiral of clamoring voices
There is one voice.
And, I am home.
Secret Little GlancesFaces in the crowdMore Like This
Whisper sorrows to me.
Quiet little murmurs,
Secret little glances.
I look into their eyes and I see
Raw, bitter shame.
They quickly look away.
Shame is the heart,
The beating life of their reality.
Lies are the tangled network of nerves,
Sensitive only to denial.
Failure is the pulsing lifeblood in their veins,
Apparent only in the event of death,
And, they just died.
Ebbing BreathThe utterance of sorrow beneath her wings,More Like This
Whispering secret syllables into her ear,
As she ascends to some distant shore.
Her fear, a bleeding sore,
Mingling blood with tears,
Yet she will not cease her voyage.
She will push on,
Until her last ebbing breath,
Until all the days of her life are utterly spent
A resolute warrior of light.
Son of EarthThe night, so beautiful in its wake,More Like This
As I watch him rock to and fro;
A son of Earth abandoned by love.
A curtain of pale blond shadows his grim expression.
Odd how beauty can be so cold,
Yet so tempting to the hungry eye.
Wordless tattoos embrace his skin,
Speaking volumes of his ragged being.
Black lines slither from beneath his shirt,
Like snakes acclimating to his icy heart.
Thoughts so blank,
So empty as a thick puff of smoke exits his lips.
Slender fingers fall against the glass,
So calloused, beckoning;
An orphaned child lost so long ago.
Unknown to the world he sits every night,
Enjoying his cigarette and watching life dance by.
Odd how beauty can be so cold,
Yet be so tempting to the hungry eye.
FleetingCold, tempting tentative touchMore Like This
His eyes, speaking of a fiery spirit,
Now muted by sorrow
So willing to die
Tears threaten to fall as I reach for his hand.
His lipsslightly parted cool.
The pale sickle moon,
Veiled by a thin whisper of clouds.
He stands atop the ledge,
A colorless corpse in the dying moonlight.
It wont be long now.
I squeeze his hand.
He brings mine to his lips.
They are chilling.
A tear slips down my cheek.
The black heavens are fading,
Becoming a dull blue.
I moan in desperation.
It wont be long
He caresses my cheek,
Wiping the tear away
Cold, tempting tentative touch
The world shall weep with his passing.
And, as the sun rises
An explosion of fire and life
So too does he.
A dazzling blue blaze
And only seconds later
And the world wept.
RedShe was something beautiful,More Like This
Something purely innocent.
Now a broken heirloom-
Submissive with a hint,
Owned by some forsaken devil,
Of some begotten land.
Watch her descent-
Wretched bleeding dove,
Falling far too fast,
Twisted by love.
She can't break away,
From this riddle
This alluring puzzle.
Somewhere in the middle..,
She hides her tattered wings-
A flowing mass of red.
OP : Among the DebrisI saw you in the dusty rays,More Like This
A dancing mirage of soul.
You spoke and the world waited,
It’s very breath suspended in awe.
Your forest eyes faded and lonely—
They reflected a time long ago,
When you played beneath the trees…
When your heart sang a steady beat—
You died that day, didn’t you?
You died… and no one wept for you.
