Wrestling With God (Genesis 32:22-30)Wrestling with GodMore Like This
For those of you who don't know me, I practice multiple martial arts. I practice Muay Thai, capoeria, silat, karate, bokator, ninjitsu and I am even looking into trying Krav Maga. Frankly, I love martial arts. I've fought a lot of people in my time using these martial arts...but none of the opponents I've ever fought quite compare to my dad. When I was a kid, I would always be getting myself into trouble which my dad would always try to bail me out of. I'm thankful that my dad was always stronger than I was...cause I needed someone like him to knock me back into shape.
I remember that I once went out on my bike and I started riding in front of a car....that was moving. My dad shouted at me to move and get out of the way...but I didn't listen to dad...I thought I could outrun this car. My dad kept shouting and yelling...until finally.
Dad comes out of nowhere and tackles me, literally knocking me out of the road. It hurt...it really hurt to be nocked on m
Faith in God's Authority (Luke 7:1-10)Having Faith in God's AuthorityMore Like This
What does authority mean to you? When I was a lieutenant in my high school's NJROTC unit, I had to learn a lot about authority. I had to learn how to be an authority figure and how to respect authority. One of the hardest things to do is to follow orders especially when I had to follow orders given to me by my Commanding Officer. Why? Well, frankly I didn't think he was a good leader. I didn't trust his judgment and I felt like he wasn't someone I could trust as my CO.
What about God? Can we trust God as our leader? Can we trust God as our authority figure? A lot of people actually have trouble following God and doing as he instructs but why is that? We're talkinga bout our Lord who created the Heavens and the Earth. He has as a perfect plan for our lives and we still struggle to follow his plan for us. It seems just ridiculous right? Maybe it's because we don't know how to follow him? Maybe we just don't know how to obey God? Maybe it's
Revival PrayerPraying for Revival takes a great deal of Intercessory prayer and confession of sins. One of the best living authorities on praying for Revival is Leonard Ravenhill. But there is one aspect of prayer that is hardly touched on anymore because no one does it any-more: fasting and prayer.More Like This
Fasting is generally a denial of physical nourishment: food and fluids. The human body can go a week without food before getting hungry, but it can only go about three days without water. When we mix prayer and fasting though, we are trusting in God's power to sustain us while we pray for something very serious. Moses fasted 40 days twice at the age of 80 in preparation for the 10 Commandments from God. Daniel fasted for several weeks while waiting on God for an answer about a certain passage of Scripture. Christ fasted 40 days while in preparation for His earthly m

One of the biggest questions that I get from other christians is this: How do I spread the word of Christ? I am not a missionary and my job and hobbies do not allow me to share His word. Let me tell you one of my own stories:
I may have said this already, but I am a martial artist. Of the martial arts that I practice, the only one that I practice competitively is Muay Thai. At the beginning of each match my opponent and I must go through a traditional Muay Thai ceremony called the Rahm Muay. This is basically a dance done before a match that is meant to honor Buddha...the religion of Thailand where this art originated. When I was going into my first match and I was told to do this dance...I didn't want to because I didn't want to honor Buddha...he's not my God.
So I bent the rules a little. Instead of honoring Buddha in my movements, I was crying out to God...praying to Jesus for safety and for a good fight. Needless to say, my Muay Thai teacher was blown aw
