Woo god this guy is finally done... @__@ This was worked on here and there for the past two months or so, I wanted to do this guy with real scale work along his back since I think it looks better than the larger scales that just like to fall wherever.

Hi!

This is mt favorite piece so far! It is a cute industrial/steampunk Ladybug necklace made out of polymer clay a 100% by me.

-The Ladybug pendant measures about 2.5cm across by 4cm long
-It comes on an antique and opaque silver chain which gives it a more industrial look.

I hope you guys like it

There is something so thrilling about seeing my masks being modeled and photographed by Beki Stilborn :::iconxxxbekixxx: , especially for me as a mask-making artisan.

To me, my masks are just the things I love to make. A compulsion, a collage of ideas, a pretty concoction of colors and designs. I make them all the time, so I'm too close to them to be objective.

But when Beki picks a location, crafts her make up, chooses (or makes) her outfit, puts on my mask and creates one of these portraits...it becomes something different. The mask is ~alive~, suddenly. It has a soul, because the soul resides in the eyes and when there are eyes behind my mask, it's complete. Now it breathes. Now it sees. Now it has a heartbeat.

Other mask artists will know exactly what I am talking about. It's very exciting to see your art come alive like that. :)

More "fun with spectrum-shifting acrylics". I wanted to see how they looked on a black base. The answer is, they needed some augmenting with Duochrome, because they're basically transparent paints that reflect one color (blue on the bodies, green on the fins). So I added green/gold Duochrome to the tips of the fins and aqua/blue to the centers of the bodies, and it gave the whole mask more dimension. It almost glows. Can't wait to try Medusa in these colors.

Made entirely by me, entirely by hand. Hand-carved leather, acrylic paint, and love.

Yay hot pink and black! Ugh those swirls were crazy... I wanted her as symmetrical as possible so just cutting out her pattern took about 2 hours. It was worth it though because I really love how she came out. The swirls on the back of her wings are my favorite part :)

I'm learning more and more with every plushie I sew. I'm STILL tweaking the pattern...eesh. It is almost there though. It just needs a little longer face (too round) and slightly longer backlegs so it stands a bit better. I'm getting a lot better with the wings too. Practice practice practice!

Sewn by me from fleece fabric, about 10 inches tall

Sorry but I AM NOT SELLING THE PATTERN at this time.

NOT FOR SALE
This was made for the winner of my facebook giveaway in March. Took a while to finish! Mostly because I really put of glazing... glazing these full manes takes nearly an hour every single coat, of which there are 4.I think I've fainted.

I think he turned out beautifully! His tail is made to hold a D20 die. The winner wanted to use his own.  I believe there are close to 20 different shades in his mane. I wanted it to be a really nice transition between colors :)

Made entirely from colored Premo Sculpey clay, just over 3 inches tall

Ebay user Stamp by SNKGFX up for auction here: cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?… also more views there :)
I drew a picture a while back of a dragon on a D20, and loved the idea so much I had to sculpt it. The D20 is standard size, which makes this guy about 3 inches tall. He was quite the challenge to balance on such a small die. He kept trying to fall over as I was building him, and I got frustrated a lot. His wings kept throwing him off balance, and he came out a little bigger than I originally planned, but eventually I got him to work. Now he's perfectly balanced and one of my favorites ever

This is the picture the idea was based off of:

I may try to make another in clay that looks closer to the drawing...maybe :XD:

Just finished this pretty little dice dragon. They usually tend to be dark bold colors, so I thought I’d make one a little softer and more feminine. The removable dice she comes with actually shimmers an iridescent rainbow, but I couldn't get the effect to show up on camera. I just love making rainbow critters, even if they are super  time-consuming :XD:

She will be part of a big dice dragon sale soon, so watch for a journal announcing when :)

Since I made sis cat Shiva Moon I just felt I had to do my own little ball of fluff Orion aka Ori. Although little and little... Ori is actually a huge bundle of muscles and cat with paws as big as my palms. He is also the sweetest guy in the world.

Ori is made out of tin foil and Super Sculpey and painted with acrylics. The chain I have bent out of thin wire.

Height: 2,4 cm

EDIT:It's been pointed out to me that the font I've used might not be easy for everyone to read, so I've included the text version here too. :)

EDIT 2 (30/12/11):

:bulletpink: A few people have asked me what kind of stitching I used for this. However, I have no idea what any kinds of stitches are called! ^^; Thankfully, ~ShihonRainbow linked me to a video on YouTube that informs me that it's called an overlock stitch - you can watch the tutorial here: [link]

:bulletpurple: I've also had a few people ask what the 'cotton' is used for. By 'cotton' here, I mean thread - it's sometimes called cotton here in the UK... Sorry for any confusion caused! ^^;

Also...

:bulletblue: OMG - a DD? :omg:

Text version:
Captain Devlin's Plushie Donut Tutorial

----------------------------------

You will need:

- 1 piece of tan or brown coloured felt

- 1 piece of felt for the icing (this can be any colour you like!)

- Cotton (to match the colour of the felt - don't worry if it's not an exact match, just try and get it as close as you can.)

- an OLD CD (to use as a template)

- thin card (for making a template)

- needles

- a pen or pencil (for marking)

- small beads (such as bugle beads or seed beads)

- polyester fibre (for stuffing)

---

1 - Place the CD onto your piece of card and draw around it. Next, draw a wiggly shape within the outlines of the CD. This will be your template for the icing on your donut.

2 - Draw around the CD again, this time onto the tan coloured felt. You need to do this twice, for the top and bottom of your donut. Place the blobby template you just made from thin card onto the other coloured felt and trace around it. Cut the shapes out carefully, and don't forget the little holes in the middle!

3 - Place the icing on top of one of the tan circles, making sure the holes in the middle are lined up with each other. Stitch around the edge of the icing piece to secure it to the tan felt. Sew the hole in the middle first - this helps to keep the icing piece in place as you sew the rest of it.

4 - Sew some small beads onto the 'icing', so that they look like sprinkles. I use a running stitch to do this, meaning I just use one long piece of thread to sew them all on, rather than tie off after every bead individually. Make sure you fasten the beads securely - loose threads mean dangly beads, and you don't want that!

5 - Once you've finished decorating your top layer, place it on top of the other tan circle and begin sewing the two sides together. Begin by sewing the centre circle in first, and stitch right around the outside edges, leaving a gap of about 2-3 inches (5-7cm).

6 - Start stuffing your donut. Push the stuffing in right around to the furthest part of the donut, and fill towards the opening from either side. If you find it hard to get the stuffing in with your fingers, try using a pen or pencil to poke it in. Kneading the stuffing with your fingers as you fill your plushie helps to stop it from becoming lumpy. In my opinion, it's better to overstuff plush donuts than to underfill them. No-one wants a flat donut... :D

7 - Sew the gap shut, and squish the filling around with your fingers again to ensure an even distribution of stuffing right the way around.

Now you're done! :)

---

I've been meaning to do a tutorial for ages... ^^; The only other guide I've seen for making plush donuts seemed needlessly complicated, so I thought I'd share my method of doing it. :D

You can download a simple pattern here: [link]

Hopefully everything makes sense - I'm more than happy to answer any questions if not! :aww:

As always, constructive comments are welcome too!

Thanks to ~theANDROidroMEDiA for helping out with a few of the photos. :)

The stages of my youngest daughter Sasha's 3rd birthday cake, a 6 layer gluten free rainbow cake filled and covered with homemade butter cream and decorated simply with jelly tots.

I made one big bowl of cake mixture, divided into portions then coloured each with Sugarflair concentrated food colouring paste (you can get it from ebay and amazon) , do not use the liquid stuff for baking, paste keeps it's colour and you only need a very small amount so a tiny pot lasts a very long time. I do warn you the green and blue look alike as does the yellow and orange, try and not mix them up like I did or you may find yourself having to make extra cake mixture!

Don't be put off by the colour of the sponge cakes on top after being cooked, inside is full of really bold and beautiful colours.

This little beauty consists of 9 medium eggs, 4 blocks of butter and 2 bags of icing sugar just to give you some idea of the size of this thing.

After baking you can measure and slice each layer to be the same size if you wanted.

Make sure to crumb coat your cake (covering the cake with a small amount of butter cream or icing, leaving it to harden for an hour before adding the final coat of frosting, this helps stop any crumbs ruining the look of the icing)

As always I used my trusty basic sponge recipe with the buttercream recipe
