Did I ever mention how much of a hardcore Futurama fan I am?
Probably sure I have. This artwork here is the proof of it!

I really wasn't very good at drawing in the style of Futurama, so I decided to try it out with my own style.
Since it was going to look nothing like the original source's style, I decided to go all out and just give it a different vibe.

The hardest character to draw was, surprisingly, Leela. Because she only has one eye, when drawn sideways, her face ends with her eye instead of her nose, so it felt strange... but I knew I had to go with it.
Bender was fun to draw. He's mainly based on his overclocked self, but I added some gundam-like component to him. He's taking a pose based on a BG of a DDR game. Guess what it is. ;)
Amy was the easiest one to draw by far. Dunno why, maybe I'm just used to draw normal girls.

The nebula/galaxy in the background was the thing I feared drawing the most since backgrounds are not my forte.
However, by just going forward with tracing curves and erasing a bit randomly, I got something satisfactory.

Song of inspiration: "Invoke" (1st OP to Gundam Seed)

Me encantan este tipo de ilustraciones, muy al estilo de una revista juvenil o un dibujo muy comercial

Some sketches I did to warm up for a huge fan art for both Wreck-it-Ralph and Rise of the Guardians - the best 2 animated movies this year. And by the way, happy new year, guys, hope you'll have a wonderful 2013.

I did the original render in the same pose for an exhibition and gave some prints in 2011. I saw it again a few weeks ago and I thought it was awful, so I decided to re create a new one with a better look. Final render is 10200 px tall, too bad fur gets lost at this resolution.

Spider-Man and Batman are two of my all time favorite Characters....which lead me to have this idea for a while of combing both of what I love about Spider-Man and Batman and combine the both of the 2 worlds together. So I came up with these designs for fun and First up is Spider-Bat which as you guessed it is a combo Batman and Spider-Man!! I have a list of other characters already worked out so stay tuned!! Let me know what you guys think!!

*Spider-Man is property of Marvel Comics

**Batman is Property of DC Comics

God I love dagged sleeves. Almost as much as I love slashed ones. I just want to dag and slash everything I can get my hands on.

I've wanted Maleficent to be the first villain in the series for a while now, ever since I made the mental leap between Maleficent's horns and 15th century horned hennins. The time period works out pretty well, actually, since I wanted her to look a little more dated than Aurora's 1480's getup- both houppelandes and horned hennins were all the rage during the early- to mid-1400's, and they make for pretty good analogues to her official costuming.  Sexy stuff.

This proves more than any of the previous pieces that these are adaptations, not improvements. I mean, look at the original Maleficent design- how does one improve on PERFECTION

''How to break a hero.
Take away everything he loves'.'

Edit:...o...kay...

Let's lighten up this, shall we?

This pic is NOT about the so well loved/hated immortality blues...
It's way more simple: It has nothing to mean at all.

I once saw a username somewhere, don't know where anymore, which was 'how to make a hero'.
I had this scene in my head immediately as a counterpart =/ That's all.
And, like I explained in one of the comments: 'Taken away' does not have to mean that someone kills those ppl.

Finally, I finished my latest Princess picture. I wanted the princess to be a surprise so I figured I'd draw someone that no one mentioned hehe.

The story around this version of Jane is pretty simple. After Jane takes the drawing back from the baby baboon, its entire family begins to chase Jane. However, Tarzan isn't there to grab Jane when she jumps the cliff. She grabs onto the vines on the other side of the cliff wall and the baby baboon jumps on her to take the picture back. The vine breaks, and Jane and the baby baboon fall into the rushing water below which leads to an underground river. Both Jane and the baboon black out. Later, Jane awakes on the bank of a small lake deep in the jungle. The underground river apparently led her to this hidden location. She begins to inspect the area and notices the little baboon. She picks him up begins to trek through the jungle to try and find her father's camp, but in doing so, she becomes hopelessly lost. Only having each other, Jane and the baby baboon must learn to survive in this dangerous place...and they apparently do hehe

...so pretty much she becomes a female Tarzan.

Some fun character designs I did up for the very cool and super-sweet British Cosplayer/model Tanya Tate.

I'm always a bit apprehensive when sitting down with someone and showing them a comicbook caricature you've drawn for/of them. It's gone over well every time, but there's always that lingering "artist thing" in the back of your mind of "What if they don't like it?".:iconbutbutplz:

Well it did go over wonderfully:iconilavplz: and she did really like seeing herself in this type of comicbook version, and especially got a kick out of the head-shot with her tongue sticking out.

I did this one up to test out some head-shots and get down a comic/toony version of her sort of as a ref/template for future Cosplay-prints, etc. And yes, there's a good amount of Art Adams, Campbell, and some Ryan Stegman(look him up, crazy-talented) mixed into this one, as well as just utilizing the amazing features of Tanya herself. When I first met her I didn't know/recognize who she was. I just saw someone in an Emma Frost costume and thought :O_o: "oh my gosh, look at those cheek-bones, the hair and her profile. That is a perfect Emma Frost!" So having an aesthetic base-line structure like her's to work with also really lends itself to this type of fun comicbook caricatures without really having to think too hard/much about it.:)

Once ya have something like this, it's easier to do the paper-doll cut out thing with costumes to see what might work best:i.e. photocopy the page and then draw on the different costumes right over the underlining structure/model.;-) Plus you always want to keep learning and improving,:work: so any fun additional practice like this never goes to waste.:)

Taking a break from commissions this month-- I wanted to cram at least one or two new pictures to print in time for AnimeNext. I'm sure there's things that could use fixing but I won't spend more time on this because I also want to do a Finn picture (and a new Korra picture too!) Stay tuned for that! And enjoy the picture!
