i pulled out
around my neck.
i gave your things away,
so i can grow
into a body
that has never felt you.
and i know it will sting
when i salt the frozen street,
but once it
grows in i will
possess a thicker skin
that isn't covered
in your fingerprints.

The man is pointing in one direction. She looks to see what lies down the road.
She turns and sees the man pointing the other direction.
She stops to talk to him, to learn his story. How he was made, his flaws, his aspirations.
One connection is made beautiful.
"The crows come from miles around," he says to her. "Just to eat in my field..."
I step away from the scene. I step out onto that crossroads and through a wall. This isn't a normal wall, this one is see through. It can make a connection, and ruin one.
I break down the wall and step down and into the rows and rows of people. I look at these faces. How many of them came to see me for who I am. For my name and my face. My talents that I pour out for them. And how many came to see the straw man who was hung up on a fence to dry.
I continue my walk through the faces. I come to a group of three faces, all frozen
