Quite large images to start with. Blimey...
I guess anyone's gathered that I'm new to deviantART and that this stands as one of my first submissions - although certainly not my only piece of work. I've posted more like this under the alias of Fadeaway on boards such as Public Health Warning Online (www.phwonline.com) and Facepunch Studios (forums.facepunchstudios.com).
This is the first part of a picture made in Garry's Mod, version 9.04. It's what's now considered the demo version of v10, which is incredibly poor for ragdoll corpse posing (or so I'm led to believe).
The picture above is done completely with in-game effects provided with Version 9. No photoshop here or anywhere for all you professionals, except for half-hearted attempts. The blinding light is supposed to show the disorientation and confusion of the man depicted which I can't due to lack of facial animations.
Part 2 is here: [link]
"I was Sergeant Thomas Moore of the 17th Airborne. I'd led patrol after patrol successfully where men like Lieutenant Parker had failed and I found myself with an M1A1 Thompson in hand, standing on a hill.
I found later that Corporal Irons and the other thirty-three men behind me had mistaken an order of full assault for an order of signalled assault to be made on the deployment of red smoke. I'd been charging alone till he'd thought quickly enough to throw out some reds to start the rest up himself.
There I was. Without the bravado to shout for my boys to get hose him down because I could feel that I was alone. I knew I stood alone.
For a brief moment, I felt like a man. Not a soldier..."
The story is something I'm writing in the style of Stephen E. Ambrose's book documentary 'Band of Brothers' and posing in the style of the Home Box Office/British Broadcasting Company's dramatised collaboration adaptation.
