Brave FacesBrave faces are not as common as a person may believe.
More Like This
They are applied more than they should be, to sad faces, angry face, scared faces
But they are not brave.
A brave face is not a face where tears are pouring down as you sob uncontrollably,
A brave face is not the raging face that screams curses at the sky,
A brave face is not the horrified face that flashes in times where you don't know what to do.
A brave face is the smile.
It's the smile that tells people you're alive. The face that says yes, you're just tired, you're fine, please move along.
It is the facade.
It is like the calm atop the waters when you know the warships lie beneath, beating away at your senses, your pride, your fortitude, and your mortality.
It is the lie.
And to lie about yourself for the sake of others when you know it is the right thing to do is sometimes the bravest and hardest thing of all.
