Due to constraints within the +Watch system, we have added a 5,000 deviant limit to the amount of deviants you can +Watch. This change only affects a very small amount of deviants, all of whom have been contacted privately regarding the matter. In the future, you will receive a notification if you attempt to watch more than 5,000 deviants.
Please note also that this only affects how many deviants you can +Watch, not how many deviants can +Watch you.

Last week, we launched a new set of tools for Muro to Beta Testers, and thanks to the efforts of the Beta Testers in reporting bugs, and $mudimba's quick work fixing those bugs, we are launching these tools to everyone!
The new "Adjust" panel allows you to adjust a variety of color settings, including contrast, tint, and color temperature. These changes can be applied to an individual layer or the whole image, giving you an even broader means of creating dynamic works of art!

The stretcher bar on our Wrapped Canvas Print will be changing from an 11/16" (1.75 cm) depth x 1 5/8" (4.13 cm) width to a 1 3/8" (3.5 cm) depth x 1 3/8" (3.5 cm) width.
The result will be an upgraded product that has a more professional, gallery-quality look at the same great price.
For those who are not aware, the Gallery Wrap, which is what deviantART uses for our Canvas Prints, is a technique that wraps the actual image around all four sides of the frame.
The outermost 1 3/4" (4.45 cm) on all four sides will be stretched to wrap around the frame.

Copyright is something that often falls by the wayside with premades. And if it turns out the images used to create the premade were not legal to begin with, the end result is that not only will the premade be taken down, but all the images created with it (in good faith!) will be deleted along with it!
How can you prevent this?
Either, you steer clear of premades completely, or at least you check their sources! If anything feels off, don't use it - and don't fav it either! No more spotlight for those who can't be bothered to check/credit their resources!!!

Preview images for literature deviations are now placed within a scrolling literature thumb. In the past, any preview image a deviant set would take the place of the scrolling literature thumb, making it difficult to distinguish visual art thumbnails and literature thumbnails.

The impact that this single website has had on the direction my life has travelled is profound. It has shaped me as a person, as an artist and as a professional. It has enriched my life and those of my family and friends.

-There will be only TWO of any one Pokémon allowed. By this I mean there can be only two Riolu, only two Pikachu, only two Sneasel etc.
-Legendary Pokémon are allowed however there can be only ONE of each Legendary Pokémon in the group at any one time. Only ONE Darkrai, only ONE, Shaymin etc. Which means your likelihood of getting into the group is a bit slimmer. The only exception is NO Arceus, no one gets to play god.
-NO Pokémon is stronger than Mr. Dark the Darkrai. It is HIS circus and there is no defeating him.

Multi-submit is a tabbed interface built into the Submit page which allows you to upload and submit multiple deviations at once.

All new fursuit makers, are you ready?Something that has been going around in my head for the past week as I've watched a ton of new makers jumping out of the woodworks, eager to take on commissions. On average I will work 12-16 hour 'shift' days making suits, 6 days a week. I will take a day or two off to loosen up and relax, but perhaps ever 2 weeks or so. To keep up with the demand and the work load it takes a ton of my time, often sacrificing fun events such as the movies or a bon fire.
2. Do you have the space?
I started working off of my bed, then out of the spare bedroom. Small projects don't take up space, but larger ones certainly do. Do you have the space needed for furs, tools, cutting, sewing, and other things of the sort?

As a working artist, it's hard to deny the importance of recognition. Commercial viability depends on marketability; marketability depends on recognition. We can't eat if we don't get noticed. We don't feel loved if we don't get attention.

Anthro vs Furry: A Semantics ProblemI have a dream. A dream that certain artists in the anthro community here will one day, stop being ignorant about what "furry" is...and they will stop using the term incorrectly and discriminating art because of it. Any art community has a right to set limitations on what they accept in specific collections. But being so vague in saying "we only accept anthro, we don't accept furry" brings up a deep rooted semantics issue with the terminology being used. Being an Art Educator and a former community volunteer for this gallery, I cannot sit here and watch the ignorance and not say a word. I can't know all of these answers for each time I'm asked, but I do have two thoughts on photo shoots and personal safety:
1) You should always bring a chaperon/friend (male, strong, with a mind for protection) to photo shoots with a photographer you don't know personally. If the photographer resists you bringing a friend... then he is probably a creepy person.
A professional photographer will understand that this is your first time working with him. He will want you to be as comfortable as possible, otherwise the shoot will be a failure. If he doesn't know this, then he is not a professional photographer.
Knowing a photographer personally and knowing of him are not the same. If 30 of your friends know the photographer, but you have never worked with him or had a lengthy conversation with him, in person
For the ones who commented on my Bases......literally breaking my balls asking me why I decided to censor both female and male nipples.More Like This
Mine was an ideal choice, based on the fact female's nipples are considered nudity and male's are not.
People have started commenting me, trolling me, asking me 26783789437 time why the hell I censored the male ones, half of them just said nipples aren't nudity, so the result was I decided to leave the picture uncensored without the mature content tag.
Guys, seriously...there where just female nipples, neither real nudity (Okay, you may think it's nudity, I respect your opinion). Nothing more than that, but my deviation was reported for showing the supposed nudity.

Polygones = Emotion
I'm sure you've all seen the jokes, but this one stems from David Cage, who gushed over the tech demo of an old man's face for the PS4, remarking about how the only way to get "true" emotion is by bridging the uncanny valley with high resolution models, hi-def textures, and realistic shaders. "True emotion" of course can't be found in books, TV, or cartoons because none of those things can depict the exquisite details of a wrinkled face in true HD glory. I'm sorry to say this, David Cage, but if I can get an emotional response out of 16-bit pixel sprites from Chrono Trigger, or a pictureless book... your logic is faulty.

This journal is in response to the "righteously indignant" users making a fuss about me "selling" fanart of copyrighted characters in my recent Adventure Time post. To the person who signed up today just to write a nasty comment on my new Society6 page. To the person who flagged my recent Adventure Time illustration on DA and then proceeded to send me an e-mail about doing it (probably the same person). To the people creating multiple accounts to try and dissuade users from spending their money how they see fit. I've lost count of how many times someone, be it a big corporation or an individual, have asked me to illustrate for them for free. It will always go something like this "You draw this for us, and we will include your name in the credits. That's good publicity for you!" as if such a pathetic offer holds any merit.
There was one specific case where a guy wanted to use my drawing as a book cover but didn't want to pay. He said he might print up to 50,000 books, so that's like an amazing offer of 50,000 views for me right? Wrong. 50,000 is nothing. We live in the information revolution. Don't forget we have places like Deviantart, tumblr, and all those social networking sites. Sharing art, like sharing any information, has never been easier.
