The Northern Jaro is a unique breed with many purposes. These dogs are built to have massive force while also being agile and quick on their paws, they are extremely intelligent and it seems like every dog’s mission in life is to put their master to the test.
The breed is very new and were created in 2012 by Luke Nylund.
Several breeds were used in a strict breeding program, only choosing the best hunting dogs with the best skills.
The first dog to be used in the program was called Jaro, he was a majestic big Swedish moosehound aka Jämthund, shown on the picture above. His personality was perfect; calm, wise, yet playful and curious.
Jaro was mated to several Laikas, Swedish white moosehounds and Karelian bear dogs, the result years later was as expected; A hunting breed with curled tail, tall triangular ears, medium sized with lots of barking.
