Caesar Salazar watched with mild interest as Rex walked into his lab, followed closely by his blond friend.
"Hey, big bro. Is it cool if we look around?" Rex asked.
"Fine," Caesar replied with a distracted wave.
He heard Rex prattle on to his friend as they walked around the lab. Caesar tuned out the sound of Rex's excited voice and returned to his work. He almost forgotten the boys were still in the spacious lab when he felt a slight pressure on the back of his neck and looked up to find Rex's blond friend looking at him.
Caesar held the young man's gaze as he tried to remember the blond's name.
He has a name surely, Caesar thought. He just couldn't remember it. It frustrated him. Caesar had always prided himself on being an observant man; obsessed with details. It was what drove him to the sciences in the first place and not knowing the teen's name was making him feel itchy.

"Everything will be alright," Caesar said softly as he held his brother tight. The truth is he wasn't sure how things will turn out but he had to say something. Rex was sobbing hysterically a moment ago and so he grabs hold of the boy to calm him down. The boy was still crying, amidst a series of hiccups, in his embrace. There was a sad look in Caesar's eyes as the reality of it all dawned upon him.
'They're gone. They're not coming back. Now it's just me and Rex.' He held Rex tighter as if afraid he'll lose the boy too if he doesn't. He closes his eyes as he felt Rex's tiny arms wrap around his waist. It was getting harder to keep the tears in and one escaped from the corner of his eyes. He dipped his head lower to hide his face even though he knew there was no one else in the apartment. They stayed that way for a long time holding on to each other; crying the pain and shock away. In that moment, the world seemed a lot bigger and scarier than it ever was.
"Caesar," Rex muffled voice s

"Would you like to hold him?" she said and Caesar looked up to meet her beautiful brown eyes. His breath caught in his throat and he couldn't answer her. All his worries about being a father suddenly came back and he looked away.
'What if I'm not ready?' He thought. 'What if I accidently forget to look after him? Like the many times I forgot about Rex. He'll get hurt. Like how Rex got hurt. What if I'm not there? Like how I left Rex for 5 years. He'll hate me. I can't do this.'
He looked at the baby again. He extended his hand to touch the baby's little head but held back. She saw the worried look on his face and immediately placed the baby in his arms. "Here," she said softly. "Hold your son."
Caesar wasn't prepared for that but automatically took the child in his arms. His eyes went wide as he realized that he was cradling his son. His heart beats faster, his body went stiff and he was conscious about his every move. 'How small and fragile a baby is,' He thought. The last time he hel
The Nanite EventCaesar could feel his palms beginning to sweat. This was it, the day they’ve been planning for months. His parents and Rylander standing closely behind as his hand hovered over the button, the button that was set up to trigger everything. It was Caesar who was to directly start everything, just as he planned in case what they were going to do was to be discovered. Though he knew his parents would not stand for him taking the fall. His mother especially would tan his hide if she were to know of his ‘just in case’ plan. Taking a deep breath, Caesar, pressed the button.
For a few long second it was silent and Caesar feared him may have made a miscalculation. Suddenly various alarms throughout the lab began to signal and within seconds after that a siren from above began to wail. &
