But in this case the voice of his conscience was silent, and Sef interpreted that silence as a reassurance. This time he had done nothing wrong - excluding the fact that he was hiding in the wood shed, an action about which his conscience actually seemed to have something to say; especially after being gone for so long (Sef was too young to quantify time accurately).
But the child immediately shut down any hint of remorse with one thought: no, this time he had done nothing wrong, he felt offended and did not want to see his dad again. Ever again.
While reformulating this last thought for the umpteenth time, two large tears sprang into his eyes and he had to chase them
