A Tribute to Robin Williams
Robin Williams Tributeby EmilyStepp
Why did we delay for more than a week the publishing of this remembrance? Because to properly reflect the impact of this loss on the millions of Robin Williams fans worldwide, we wanted to be sure to capture a true sense of the torrent of love for Robin pouring in from the community in the form of heartfelt portraits and other tribute art.
We chose the “best” pieces to accompany our own prose tribute, but the “best” kept being supplanted by

My Deviant Art StoryI wanted to do a feature, so the 14th birthday of DA provides a perfect chance.More Like This
I started on here by accident, back in about May 2011. I was very new to the internet, but wanted somewhere to upload the many poems that I had written & had stashed away on a shelf in my wardrobe. Poetry was my primary reason for joining DA, but I uploaded a few of my drawings & paintings too. I never knew back then that drawing would become my major interest in life. (I'll spare you all a rant about my rotten childhood & how my so-called "family" trampled on any dreams & goals that I had for art.) Yeah, I can laugh about it now, but for a very long time I couldn't.Back then, my primary hobby was writing - novels, short stories & poetry.
I found out that DA existed by reading a channel comment on Youtube, which was the main site that I was based on back then. I don't think that I'd started making videos at that time. Three people on Youtube

The ChaseI rest by the fence,More Like This
passing winds chilling my cheeks.
My stillness, matching only the aging wood,
The suns rays piercing clouds.
We wake and work, move and motion.
The winds of nature whistle through the leaves,
Overturned by the winds of change,
The rousing and spitting beasts chug along.
The shadows of people long past, wisp by.
I sit still and hear the birds,
Their squeaks defeated by the roaring metal.
A bug crawls along, the little fella sits a while,
My stillness is all, the quietness of my clouds,
One leaf falls by the wayside, the trees still whistling,
One little bug on one little leaf.
I close my eyes,
and listen to the soundless noises
All the world still moves,
They run and chase, the leaf in the wind.
The eternal chase, a circle of motion.
The winds passes me,
The leafs dancing around me.
Peace and quiet, my little quiet clouds.
With my new-found friends,
A bug, a leaf and an old fence
I am the dragonThe cold fire fills my lungs,More Like This
My breath like the dragon's guns,
Watch as I crash down with my massive tonnes,
I am the dragon in the cold,
The majestic of the bold,
Tale of old gran's stories of old,
Gliding through with complete control,
Protecting my horde of gold
Armour of dragon's scale,
careful of my whipping tail,
Hear my mountainous roar!
Passing clouds of fog as I soar.
But oh how icy it is,
Even the bold, old and controlled,
would surely catch the common cold.
Gold fortunes aheadNever have I liked the sickly yellow colours,More Like This
the lamps of yellow and the bad orange,
The close glow, bathed in flickering light.
Yet, I stand afar,
Curves of yellow streams, flow with the mountains,
Dots of gold speckle the nightly distance.
Gold fortunes ahead, always ahead,
Its close glow, just yellow and orange light.
