“Welcome back, Witches and wizards, to the second half of Love Potion, the game show where contestants could very well end up with the person of their dreams!”
The audience cheered with gay abandon – fireworks sparked from wands, wolf whistles and cat-calls rippled through the crowd. The commentator nodded reverently along with the audience, rousing them on with his right hand as the other held his wand to his face, using the Sonorus charm to amplify his voice. “Yes, I wonder who will be lucky tonight? Now, onto our next contestant, Miss Hermione Jean Granger!” The crowd went ballistic, poppers zinged and confetti was flicked onto the stage. Blushing, Hermione smiled bashfully, staring at her shoes. Voices that sounded curiously like Fred and George’s chanted “’Mione! ‘Mione! ‘Mione!” over the pops and bangs.

Living in a picture perfect world isn't easy, is it? We have so many standards we set for ourselves, and one of them is a way too high standard for beauty. I wanted a new deviant ID for winter, something cute. Normally I don't care about if my hairs messed up or if I have a pimple or two, but for some reason... I cared. So I went into my art app and began to smudge my face into perfection.
Needless to say, it scared me.
Not a freckle nor pimple was evident, all signs of me being remotely human were gone. In it's place stood a square painting almost, like perfection at it's peak. It didn't look right, it looked alien and weird and it scared me.
Isn't it funny how we try to mold ourselves in the same way? Makeup, hair, clothing, trying to fit in...
..when really we have our true beauty to begin with, and we honestly don't need any of it.
I am beautiful just the way I am. Without makeup. Without dressing up. Without trying
