Wizard of Oz is a timeless classic and its magic transcends the generations. I am especially pleased to be able to create this alternate version to celebrate the movie's 75th anniversary this year.

The doll used is a 15 1/2 inch doll by Robert Tonner. Full facial repaint and shading as well as hair style make over to replicate the features of the young Judy Garland in her iconic portrayal of Dorothy. This version replicates Dorothy's Emerald City hair style.

The inset photo on the bottom show the mass produced version of the doll as it was originally released.

Repaint is a new form of pop art, wherein the doll's face is treated like a three dimensional canvas, with the added challenge of painting within a very small area and an even greater challenge of recreating a real person's likeness. Since dolls are basically miniature pieces, brush strokes and shading have to be very controlled and precise.

Roughly start to finish, from base prep to finish. Love this stupid phone, makes documenting so much easier. Each line took about a day. First line is base prep, second is furring, third is hood sewing/attachment/ear construction and attachment, and lip/eye detail. Last line is prep for airbrushing and final.

This celebrity doll repaint was inspired by Julie Andrews' classic Disney character of Mary Poppins.

I used a 16-inch Mary Poppins doll here produced by Robert Tonner Doll company - a very nicely made facial sculpt but the facial paint left much to be desired. So, I completely removed factory facial painting and hand painted it to more faithfully replicate Julie Andrews as Mary Poppins. The doll's hair has been extensively restyled to more accurately represent the character's hairstyle from the movie.

The photo on the left shows the doll as it looked originally before repainting.

Repaint is a new form of pop art, wherein the doll's face is treated like a three dimensional canvas, with the added challenge of painting within a very small area . Since dolls are basically miniature pieces, brush strokes and shading have to be very controlled and precise.

This celebrity doll repaint was inspired by British actress Keira Knightley and is the final piece in my series of Elizabeth Swann repaints.

I used a 16-inch Elizabeth Swann doll here produced by Robert Tonner Doll company.

So, the first order of business was to completely remove factory facial painting. I then hand painted it to bring the likeness of Ms. Knightley to life particularly as she appeared in her portrayal from the movie Pirates of the Caribbean - Curse of the Black Pearl.

Next was I transformed her hair style by giving her a heat perm. I then carefully styled the hair to replicate Keira's in the very romantic 1700s upswept hair style from the Curse of the Black Pearl, with delicate tiny ringlets framing her face, which were individually rooted in.

This celebrity doll repaint was inspired by the dashing British actor Orlando Bloom in his portrayal of Will Turner in Pirates of the Caribbean.

I used a 17-inch Will Turner produced by Robert Tonner Doll company. As is usually the case with mass produced dolls depicting celebrities, the sculpt is spot on but the doll suffers in the facial paint department, which is as crucial a process in capturing likeness.

So, the first order of business was to completely remove factory facial painting. I then hand painted it to bring the likeness of Orlando Bloom as Will Turner to lfe, paying careful attention to replicate his weather-worn look.

The hair underwent extensive and meticulous restyling. First, I cut the hair to a shorter length. Then I heat permed the hair to give it the needed wave. Finally, I layered the hair by running the scissors along the length of the hair. This also reduces the hair's volume and thickness down to proper scale. Last, I handpainted delicate lines of hair along the hairline to soften the overall look. Sideburns were more accurately hand repainted as well.

The inset photo on the upper right hand corner shows the Will Turner doll as it was originally released.

I have previously created doll repaints of Jack Sparrow, Elizabeth Swann and Will Turner. However, I have always created them at very separate times and have never been physically together as a group. This time, I've decided to create a group of four of the main characters from the movie. Also, the Jack, Will and Elizabeth dolls here are somewhat different from the ones I've created in the past with regards to facial expression hair styling and overall detail. This is the first time I recreate Tia Dalma's likeness in a doll.

As with all my creations, I completely strip the original factory paint on each of the dolls, and completely repaint the facial features in, paying attention to accuracy of likeness and lifelike expressions. They each underwent extensive hair styling as well. The Jack doll features a hand painted tattoo as well as hand crafted authentic hair ornaments. The design on his bandana was also handpainted. Tia Dalma and Jack were both given authentic dreadlocks. It took several weeks to complete this group due to the amount of work involved.

Jack Sparrow is clearly one of my all-time favorite movie characters, perfectly portrayed by the briliant Johnny Depp.
Although, I've done a few Jack Sparrow dolls previously, no two are ever alike. This one in particular is unique for its different facial expression and the level of detail, which I mus say is my most detailed rendering of Jack to date - which includes authentic hair ornaments including the handcrafted ornament to resemeble his reindeer shinbone. Also, his clothes and accessories have been hand distressed. The tattoo and handpainted bandana are also in place.

I use a 17-inch Tonner doll for this recreation. The inset photo shows the doll in its original factory state

As with all my creations, I completely strip the original factory paint on each of the dolls, and completely repaint the facial features in, paying attention to accuracy of likeness and lifelike expressions. The doll also underwent extensive hair restyling - each dreadlock has been carefully created to match the character's. Also, dreadlocks in two additional shades were added and secured in place like hair extensions.

Repaint is a new form of pop art, wherein the doll's face is treated like a three dimensional canvas, with the added challenge of painting within a very small area . Since dolls are basically miniature pieces, brush strokes and shading have to be very controlled and precise.

Being a huge fan of the Lord of the Rings trilogy film, I anticipated with much excitement Tonner Company's release of their LOTR line of dolls based from the films.

This sculpt in my opinion is absolutely spot on, but sadly the factory paint failed to bring out Cate Blanchett's strong features. Scale and proportion were major issues, particularly the eyes and lips.

Since her makeup was very minimal, it was a little tricky as well.

Orlando Bloom shot to fame with his epic portrayal of Legolas from the film adaptation of J.R. Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings". This doll pays tribute to this beloved character.

I used a 17-inch Tonner Co - produced Legolas doll here. I completely removed factory facial painting and repainted it by hand to resemble Orlando Bloom as Legolas in Lord of the Rings. Extensive facial shading and contouring were needed to bring the character's lifelike essence. Also, the hair needed to be reworked quite a bit for better scale and proportion in relation to the face

(THIS DEVIATION HAS BEEN PREVIOUSLY POSTED HERE BUT WANTED TO REPOST WITH TODAY'S PASSING AWAY OF MS. ELIZABETH TAYLOR)

Elizabeth Taylor possesses one of the most beautiful faces in Holywood. It is then no wonder that she was chosen to portray one of the most legendary characters in history. Her role as Cleopatra in the 1963 epic version showcased her piercing beauty as well as her acting range.

So , as I always do, I completely removed factory facial painting and hand painted the doll to infuse it with the essence and character of Elizabeth Taylor as seen in the movie. This was achieved with an exacting level of accuracy as well as shading and layering of colors, some of which are very subtle. This was all intended to bring out the luminescence Taylor radiated in the movie.

The inset photo in the middle shows the doll as it looked originally before repainting.

The sculpt in my opinion is absolutely spot on, but sadly the factory paint failed to bring out Liv Tyler's features. It was quite a challenge because not only did I need to capture Liv's features but also her essence and character as Arwen, as well as capture an expression of inner emotion and longing for her mortal love, Aragorn.

Complete hair restyle and full facial repaint were needed to bring Liv's features to life. The subtlest shading on the different features of her face was executed to achieve this.

With the release of Tonner Company's New Moon-inspired Edward and the Birthday Bella Swan with a brand new sculpt, my inspiration to create continues, especially with the challenge of repainting the brand new Bella sculpt released by the manufacturer just this year.

This celebrity doll repaint was inspired by the British actress Keira Knightley.

I used a 16-inch Elizabeth Swann doll here produced by Robert Tonner Doll company - a finely made facial sculpt but the facial paint was something I found quite unsatisfactory and which I felt did not really reflect the character portrayed by Keira nor captured her likeness.

So, I completely removed factory facial painting and hand painted it to bring the likeness of Ms. Knightley to life. The doll's hair has been partially rerooted with additional hair as some of the areas were sparsely rooted. Then I gave her hair a soft perm for just some very subtle waves.

The inset photo shows the doll as it looked originally before repainting.

Lady Gaga has emerged as the most exciting entertainer of our times and part of that is her ability to reinvent herself in the most shocking and outrageous way. This particular doll is inspired by her look from her music video of her huge hit "Bad Romance".

The doll I used is a 17-inch resin ball jointed Jamieshow Sasha Homage doll. The base doll I used is not a representation of Lady Gaga per se but I thought the mold was close enough to create a Lady Gaga's features.

Full facial repaint, completely precision hand repainted featuring three dimensional repaint/shading/highlighting on eyes, eyebrows, and lips to faithfully transform the doll into the likeness of Lady Gaga from the said music video.

The doll's original wig underwent restyling to mimic Lady Gaga's hair style from the video

I am yet again pleased to share my newest addition to my miniature Twilight creations. She is Alice Cullen, the Twilight vampire with telepathic abilities, as portrayed by up and coming star Ashley Greene. This was an exciting project as it involved a brand new character and celebrity.

The doll I used is a 16-inch Alice Cullen doll by Robert Tonner. As is very common with mass produced celebrity or character dolls, the sculpt is usually spot on but the factory facial paint fails to bring out the true essence and likeness of the character/celebrity being portrayed.

There is evidently more challenge with this repaint as I had to capture Viggo Mortensen 's likeness but infused with his character's essence. I wanted to replicate the rugged weather worn look and the appropriate expression.

Scaling down the hair took quite a bit of work as well as painting in the facial hair which had to be just the right amount and in the right places.

The inset photo on the bottom shows the mass produced version of the doll as it was originally released.

My most recent 11 1/2 inch Cher doll repaint. The base doll used was Mattel's Timeless Treasures Bob Mackie Cher. This version features hairstyle with no bangs.

Complete removal of original paint then given a full facial repaint as well as a rework of the hair to replicate the pop icon. Note that hairline was also handpainted to add a more realistic appearance.

The inset photo on the bottom shows the doll as it looked originally before repainting.

i looove frozen! i love gingers and albinos too, lol
wanted to make them look not exactly like in the movie, but a little bit different
unfortunately, i'm not good at photography, so these photos doesn't really show how much i've done with them, blushing, shades and other stuff.
