Flares of energy flashed across the darkened void emptiness of the world, blue and fiery red through mists and teals of grey, swirling around the point of white shining force that gathered at the heart, the star growing in power, the lighting that flew about this core, reaching its fingers close and breaking into chains of pulsing and vibrating motion, fluid in its vector, but jagged in being. The energy coalesced and hardened, cooling as it drew into solid perfection, and formed the luminescent orb that so many creatures and monsters covet and above all else, seek to devour.
The soul, young and new, looked out at the darkness it formed, only wondering what it was, and where. From the shadow of the void came a voice. And that voice spoke in many tones, many feelings, many settings, but was all from the same person. Master. The soul drank deep from this knowledge, gained over a lifetime by another, learned in moments by the viewer, and found itself curious. 'If that is the world, then w
The guardian angelI will be the one to hold you.More Like This
I will be the one to protect you.
No tears when it is me.
Always the guardian, on the watch.
Do you know me?
Can you see through the mask?
When you give it all away,
What do you keep for yourself?
My illusions are matched by none.
I will always be there for you.
When will I drop the facade?
Or when will one break my spell?
What good is it, being the kindest?
Being the bravest, the virtuous?
When you give it all away,
And keep none for yourself?

Kikai? Can you hear me?
"ughh," sighed the girl. She started to wake slowly, clutching slightly at the thin sheets of the soft bed she was lain on. Her eyes cracked open, her pupils shrinking down in the bright white of the room. She moaned again, and tried to look around, wondering what this strange place was.
"Kikai." Something gripped her shoulder, and strongly, but gently helped her up. "Can you hear me?" She finally found she could see properly. Though she ignored the voice and looked about the room in wonder. She had never seen anything like it. It wasn't fear she felt as her fingers clenched on the sheets. But excitement. She wanted to know this place, this strange place. No idea of danger or worry permeated her thoughts, only how new everything seemed. The whites and light highlights on the tiles of the walls and floor, the glowing lights set into the ceiling. She fumbled and looked down discovering the sheet over her legs, which she held tightly. Lifting it up, she rubbed it a

Can do in spite of all hardship
I'll hold you through the night
We we will have every right
To say the words I love you
Even if it wasn't true
I would not stop trusting you
A good friend
Friends to the very end
I wouldn't be able to think
or even savor the devils drink
For I know every second would be a sin
No matter what we ever did
You listen to my every word
To the whispers that guide all birds
To the heart that shatters so softly
The soul that is always lonely
I can't feel none of that stuff
Not when I'm with you its tough
I never feel sad
Cause I'm always glad
You the friend by my side
A lovely lullaby before a ride
Show the horizon to us all
Don't worry I can hear the call
Its your name whispered its insane
Friends even when holding canes
Love you all weird, crazy friends
I guess I'll follow your trend

One day we'll be on the run

While the dragon was getting lower and lower, Julian couldn't stop staring. There were men, adults, talking to the dragons near the wooden houses or training a small group of teens like Julian. All of them carried swords. The dragon landed on his hind legs, when a man came running towards them, smiling. He was around Jonas's age and had a friendly face. The dragon's forepaws had barely touched the ground when Julian's brother jumped off his back. The two men greeted each other and started talking silently, laughing occasionally. Julian was watching his brother from the dragons back.
"Will you get down on your own or will I have to shake you off?"
Surprisedly Julian faced the red eyes of the dragon, who was looking at him and stuttered.
"Uhm... I... I will get down."
Quickly Julian slid from the dragons back. We fell the two meters from

"Shouldn't we help him?"
"I don't think so. He can look after himself."
"I know, but he isn't ready for such a task."
"Is he worth the trouble? They are dangerous, even for us; we might even die trying to help."
"He is your cousin. Isn't that reason enough?"
"Aunt Kathy will kill me, but you're right. We should leave soon. They won't wait long."
"Then let's go "
I opened my eyes and the light stung me in the eyes. Blinded I stood up. I sighed and shook my head to get rid of the dazed feeling. I looked at the rocky cave I have been living in since I started working for the lords. I stretched and slowly left the cave. I didn't just leave my home, but left a whole phase of my life behind.
"Maybe", I thought, "Maybe they will accept me back"
"Maybe, but would you want to return?"
"They're my family. I miss them."
I finally stepped out of the cave and into the open.
"For you, always."
I felt how she started surrounding me, trans

Julian didn't dream. His sleep was deep and black. He might have died, but soon his feelings returned and with them his memories. He woke, but didn't open his eyes. The soft darkness was better than the cruel world outside. Silently he waited, while the painful images passed through his mind. He felt something hot running down his cheeks. His eyes were heavy, soaked with tears. He knew he was crying, but he didn't feel ashamed for it, he had every right to do so. Everything around him was calm. There was no sound which could interrupt the black world inside him. Slowly other feelings, other memories, other images passed through his mind.
Julian was sitting on his fathers back, gliding smoothly through the evening sky. He was four years old back then. The air was rushing past them and Julian had felt free. There was nothing else in the sky, it belonged only to them. With each stoke of his fathers powerful wi

Summary- an excerpt from my original story, "FireSingers", focusing on Zane Taube, the adoptive son of a dragon hunter, and his attempts to raise an orphaned young female dragonling in secret.
Warning- there is some blood and moderate violence at one point, but nothing bad enough to warrant a mature tag.

Twilight was settling across the rapidly cooling landscape. Birdsong slowed to a few occasional chirps and the incessant drone of the insects softened to a low hum. Light red as blood filtered through the trees from the setting sun, blanketing the forested hills in an eerie glow. While most day creatures were settling down to escape the gaze of the awakening nocturnal predators, one was pushing his way through the brush down a nearly indistinguishable path, ignoring the dangers that he knew all too well. The teenage human brushed a hand across his chest, where his shirt and vest covered a large scar deal

Imagine a vast clearing where the grass is still lush and green and sparkles of dew. On the edge of the clearing are a few scattered pines, beeches, birches, and even a single oak tree. At the foot of the oak grews a small fungal colony, however, which was already attacked by snails. In the shadow under a beech tree is a massive, moss-overgrown rock, a boulder, which, though out of place, nevertheless fits perfectly into the forest around him. In the middle of the clearing is a majestic dragon with flaming red scales, which sparkle in the sunlight. The neck and belly are covered with crimson horn plates that are hard, but very smooth and pleasant. His mighty wings are nestled closely to his body. A small thorn ridge running from his hairline down his neck, the back along up to the fin-like tail, which almost touched his nose. His massive head lies on huge claws, which remember a little like human hands. From the expansive nostrils of the dragon comes from time to t

I gaped at Ruben with eyes wide open in surprise.
"I hope you like it", he continued while his warm smile slowly cooled, "for you're going to spend the rest of your short life here."
"What are you talking about?" I interrupted him when the gift of speech returned to me. Instead of an answer, the dragons around me started and tried to seize me. Tried, I say. I quickly jumped and opened my wings, flapped a few times and glided to the other end of the forecourt.
What's happening? Ruben would never do this! I thought while landing.
Maybe, but you don't know him that well, I told myself while turning around. Two of the dragons jumped in the air, and three run towards me. Ruben just stood and observed the scene.
"You know, this is futile for you", he yelled to me. For one short moment I looked him in the face and saw such burning hatred that I, despite everything, asked myself what happened to him during
