...Yep I knew this would happen. Saw it coming 5000000000 miles away Fandom has gotten so dang predictable these days.
Now before I start my little rant, I want to take it clear that I don't ship either pairing. I ship Jack with someone else entirely. Who that person is is irrelevant at the moment, but I felt the need to establish that in case some jerk decides to to call me out on bias.
That said: this fan war is literally made of bullshit.
Jelsa shippers: I'm not quite sure what you're trying to prove with your whole "Jackunzel is old, Jelsa is the the new cool thing" argument. Exactly how many people do you think that will convince...? Obviously you have no experience with shipping, because it's not a bunch of fashion trends. Shipping is based entirely on emotion and opinion, so if you think that you will make people change their minds on a ship because your ship is "trendier" then you are sadly mistaken. If you've read my previous two essays you know all the reasons I have for disliking the Eragon series. It's plagiarized, it's awkwardly written, it's full of really creepy moments, the main character is a horrible Mary Sue, and so on. You also know all the ideas I had for how Paolini could have fixed these problems before his books went to print.
But all that advice I gave is pretty much pointless in the end. The first three books have been printed, it's too late to change them. However, the fourth book has not been released yet. There's still time to make one big change that, I believe, will make everything we've had to suffer through so far completely worth it.
I'm sure Paolini couldn't care less about these essays I've written and likely doesn't even know they exist. But on the infinitesimal chance that he does, let me just say that I give him official permissio
