This is one of ten pieces I did for the new Star Wars Essential Guide to Warfare. I had a blast working on it and I'm excited that I am able to contribute to the Star Wars universe.

I will be posting them in the order of sequence as it appears in the book. Hope you guys enjoy them!

Admiral Hirken defends the Northern Dependencies during the Fifth Alsakan Conflict. This is one of a series of clashes between the planets Coruscant and Alsakan over the leadership of the Republic that took place over the span of 140 centuries almost 17,000 years BBY(before the Battle of Yavin). Star Wars starships look rather different back in those days when shield technology was rudimentary and instead rely on large reflective armor as their main defense.

Happy belated May the 4th. I haven't done a star wars fan pic since I was about 10 years old. Feels nice to finally be able to do what I saw in my head

This poor dude was on a patrol in some backwater system. His group got ambushed by some local pirates and now he's stuck on some crummy planet trying to get a signal out. Praying his rations last until rescue can arrive.

Full-view would be nice. :D

Another fake poster, this time Inglourious Basterds style! If you haven't seen that movie--go see it! It's awesome!

Okay, the characters pictured here ARE from an actual story that is currently sitting on my hard drive waiting to be finished. I wanted to do something with Stormtroopers kicking a lot of ass, and then a storyline came to mind that very night. The troopers of the 79th Legion got screwed over and left by their colonel, who's defecting to the New Republic* (this being after the movies' time) and they have to fight their way through a lot of enemy terrain to try to get to the colonel, whom they've made up their minds to shoot. Thus, we have here 'Trecherous Basterds'...referring to the officers, of course, Bancroft and his two lieutenants.

*To clarify, the colonel is not a good guy, (I love the Empire, but it doesn't mean that I demonize rebels or anything) he's just self-serving and likes being on the winning team.

Obligatory copyright stuff: Star Wars belongs to George Lucas and co, not me, although these are my characters and my fanfic. Inglourious Basterds is Quentin Tarantino's brainchild, and you really need to go see it now. That grey text down at the bottom is just swiped from the movie poster I was using for a reference.

...If Quentin Tarantino did something with Star Wars, it'd certainly be...something. I'd watch it. XD

Hi guys! This is a new set of 12 artworks I did for the new Star Wars Essential Reader's Companion. Although the dateline for this book was a lot tighter it nevertheless was an enjoyable and rewarding experience.

As with the last book I will be posting them in the order of sequence as it appears in the Reader's Companion. Enjoy!

This is the final showdown scene, found in The Unifying Force, between Jedi Grand Master Skywalker, the Solo twins and the Supreme Overlord of the Yuuzhan Vong, Shimrra along with his retinue of Slayer bodyguards. Skywalker's strike team is part of a larger campaign Galactic Alliance is fighting in an attempt to retake Coruscant and end the Yuuzhan Vong threat once and for all.

I read the excerpt for this scene and it just thrills me to see how powerful and badass Luke is as a Jedi Master. I would absolutely love to see this as a movie but alas I can only dream

I've posted several of my Star Wars drawings here already - but I thought it was time to show that I can draw more than Stormtroopers! So what could be more different than a selection of the female characters from the Star Wars universe.

My main focus of this piece was the composition - and I knew I wanted to have the lightsabers set out symetrically - and to use them as framing devices within the piece. So my selection of characters and their positioning was partly determined by who has what lightsaber.

The first thing I tackled was to draw Jedi Leia's face. This is a variation of her character from the 'expanded universe' of stories - so I'm guessing that not everyone will be familiar with the idea of her as a Jedi. So I knew that if I got her face wrong - nobody would know who she's supposed to be! I'm pretty pleased with how the likeness turned out - I used some photo reference - but it's not a straight copy as I altered the angle.

This is an original drawing - first done in pencil - then ink - before being scanned and coloured in Photoshop using a Wacom tablet. It was drawn at a very high-resolution - the Photoshop file is over 400mb.

Hope you like!

Used a number of photos as a base for this one, namely random models of AT-AT/STs from hobbyist/stock sites. They are all heavily modified of course. I've also added some details that I often add to AT-ST's that I paint- commander's cupola with blaster mount, searchlights, shielded weapons, bolt-on skirting to protect the batteries at the rear.

For the art direction in this image, I was really inspired by the cinematography at the end of "The Mist". It feels somewhat majestic and dreamy, but also coupled with tension, knowing that horror and chaos is not far away.

Now that Galaxies is officially defunct, I thought it safe to post some of my favourite illustrations here for posterity sake..!

Working on this franchise for close to 2 years really helped me grow as a creative and allowed me to explore many aspects of the craft-- its not often you get to play the role of illustrator, story-teller and designer within a single commission. It was truly rewarding in hindsight and more often that not, a very humbling experience when you witness the sheer quality and passion of other fellow creatives working on the same project, really inspires you to stretch yourself beyond the usual bounds!

This is one of my favorite pieces from the Galactic Civil War era. This battle, which took place after the destruction of the first Death Star but before the events of Empire Strikes Back, was an elaborate ambush set by Vader and the Empire to destroy the Alliance leadership along with its fleet. Under overwhelming odds the Rebels would've fled to a designated location where they would regroup, but had they done that they would have found another Imperial fleet waiting for them. The fleet instead dispersed and made random jumps to avoid being completely annihilated. The Alliance almost lost the entire fleet from this battle but enough survived to carry on the fight and eventually make a comeback at the Battle of Endor.

This battle is recounted in the Star War comic "Rebellion: My Brother, My Enemy".

We found out this week that J.J. Abrams will direct Star Wars Episode 7. And I’m sure you also know he’s also currently at the helm of the Star Trek movies. A lot has been written about how this marks a kind of coming together for the two legendary ‘Star’ franchises – so I thought I’d illustrate that with a couple of symbolic meetings of iconic characters from the two universes.

I’ve never had any desire to draw Star Trek characters. That’s not to say that I don’t like Trek – in fact I’ve been a huge fan for years and think William Shatner is a total legend. But for me the aesthetic of the Star Wars films in much more rich and interesting.

This piece shows a young Han Solo sweeping up Lieutenant Uhura after gunning down a Klingon. I’ve never drawn Uhura before – but I’m pretty pleased with the likeness. Harrison Ford has a more distinctive face with strong features – which makes it a little easier to get an approximate likeness.

I didn’t want to give any appearance of favoring Trek over Wars (or vice versa) – so I’ve also drawn a companion piece featuring Captain Kirk and Princess Leia (in her slave outfit) re-using elements of this image to give a kind of ‘alternate universe’ feel to the two pictures.

And I've added a third and final Star Wars / Star Trek piece to finish off this trilogy:

This is an original depiction of copyright characters I didn’t create and don’t own. This is fan art – created solely to show my artistic ability – it isn’t for sale and isn’t available for reproduction. I drew this in Photoshop using a Wacom pad – this is a low-res version of the original.

This piece shows a young Captain Kirk sweeping up Princess Leia after gunning down a Stormtrooper. I found it extremely challenging to draw Kirk. Although his face is very familiar – he doesn’t have any especially distinguishing features – so I spent more time trying to get his face right than I did drawing everything else in this picture.

Could James Cameron direct one of the new Star Wars movies?

Perhaps if he'd been involved back in the '80s we might have seen something like this character - an Imperial Terminator - make an appearance?

Or maybe not... but I just wanted to draw a Star Wars / Terminator crossover... and here's the result!

I don't think a Terminator could be a 'Sith Lord' even if it does have a "learning computer" for a brain - but I think it would have "detailed files" on how to use a lightsaber (did you notice the T2 references there? lol). And it's giving off some kind of electrical discharge - not force lightning.

At first I just drew the Terminator character - but ended up adding the Emperor, the Royal Guards and Strormtroopers to add some interest to the background.

I can't imagine a character in Star Wars wearing sunglasses - but I thought I had to keep them as they're such a familiar part of the Terminator character. I tried to make subtle changes to make them look a little bit more 'space age' though.

This is an original depiction of George Lucas’s / Disney’s copyright Star Wars characters – as well as James Cameron's / Pacificor's (I think they're the current rights holders?) Terminator character. It's intended solely to show my artistic ability. I’m not a professional – this is fan art – and none of my work is for sale or available for reproduction.

The fortress and shipyard world of Kuat, home of Kuat Drive Yards, the manufacturer of the dreaded Imperial Star Destroyer and its cousins. I believe this is the first ever close-up depiction of what the famous shipyard looks like. It was kinda fun to figure out where the main business of Star Destroyer construction would take place. I also made sure that its protected by a ring of formidable Golan Defense Platforms to thwart any would be invaders.

My first deckplan commission! This was done for ~BaronSaber of his (heavily) modified YT-1300, The Saracen Saber.

I had a rough plan to work with on this, so the layout was already envisioned - I just made sure that it follows standard design elements featured in the stock YT-1300 to make for a more convincing deckplan. The kind Baron was very supportive all the way through the plan's creation, keying me into exactly what was required and why! I hope he enjoys it as much as I did making it!

Design sketch for alternate "Slave Leia" costume (from Return of the Jedi). Photoshop.

There was a design topic for alternative versions of Leia's infamous slave girl costume, and my idea was that a space gangster's slave girl's costume would be no costume at all. And Leia is in this case played by Olivia Munn rather than Carrie Fisher. :)
