Diablo fan art (obviously) used many techniques i learnt in the past few months, also a progress check considering i did another Imperius painting 8 months ago I took many screenshots as reference (mainly for Imperius, parts of his armor is painted over) but diablo's anatomy still kills me.. i spent two nights staring at my monitor wondering why my mr. prime evil looks more like a hydralisk
initially i wanted to test my limits of drawing detailed illustration but i really ran out of time so i just stopped here and cheated by adding a lot FXs lol
This is an art dedicated to Blizzard's biggest official authorized fansite in China - Cain's Corner [link]
This is a fanart featuring 2 main characters in Diablo 3: Deckard Cain and his niece, Leah.
They had journeyed together to search for truth. It's said that the prophecy of the end of the world speaks the only way to avert the end of all things. They came across an ancient library that buried under a ruin - once a glorious city but destroyed by the evils. Although Leah wasn't fond of the so-called "necessary action" to save the world. She just couldn't leave her uncle behind since he's only family she had. So instead, she helped him on his quest, searching scrolls after scrolls, books after books.
My entry for the BlizzCon 2011 Fan Art Contest. It's a Demon Hunter from Diablo 3, fighting a couple of Fallen Ones.
After having a look at the other fan art in Blizzard's fan art gallery, I get the feeling I don't stand a chance, hah. But I'll never win if I don't at least try, right?
Oh, and about the throwing knives... They've got fire damage, so they're actually glowing hot metal, and not cheap plastic, believe it or not. I initially wanted to do some fire effects, but it got really messy really fast, and I opted for the glowing hotness instead. I honestly don't know if that was a better choice, but there you go.
Edit: Daily Deviation! That's cool! This is when I should be making the double-D boob joke, right?
Deckard Cain and Leah had traveled around the land of Sanctuary, in search of both the knowledge of the prophecy of the return of the Prime Evils. They witnessed the wonders, lived in the wild, no matter how dire the condition was.
I changed the concept from just sucking spells from books to something more like experimental spellweaving so its more like she's trying to convert the arcane orb to a frozen orb with the rune and of course she needs to do it in an underground cavern cause that's cool
Update: added more colours and a bit of texture. I remember playing act 4 and if you take enchantress with you she comments on the spell energies that float in the air that only mages can see. So i wanted to put a little bit of that here, with the different colours of the elements swirling around: arcane, frost and fire
