Reduced to AshesA Phoenix to Arise
If something burns your soul with purpose and desire, it’s your duty to be reduced to ashes by it.
Today, Lady Gaga’s throne as a reigning pop diva is a 24 carat gold wheelchair, emergency hip surgery forcing the cancellation of her latest tour – a betrayal more devastating for her than for the typical performer, given her relationship with her fans. Her body has finally broken in sacrifice to the needs of her monsters for constant contact and reassurance. The question now is whether this brutal brush with her own mortality will result in the pop goddess pulling back from the edge – or only drive her to new heigh
Sonic HedgehogFor all of us, hearing or reading this name bring us to our minds inmediatly that blue famous character from video game..... but do you know this name is originaly from a human proteine GENE??More Like This
The official name of this gene is "sonic hedgehog."
The SHH gene is located on the long (q) arm of chromosome 7 at position 36.
The SHH gene provides instructions for making a protein called Sonic Hedgehog. This protein functions as a chemical signal that is essential for embryonic development. Sonic Hedgehog plays a role in cell growth, cell specialization, and the normal shaping (patterning) of the body. This protein is important for development of the brain and spinal cord (central nervous system), eyes, limbs, and many other parts of the body.
Sonic Hedgehog is necessary for the development of the front part of the brain (forebrain). This signaling protein helps establish the line that separates the right and left sides of the forebrain (the midline). Specifically, Sonic Hedgehog establishes

More Like This

Carta a un padreEl destino siempre es incierto, y a veces nos hace jugadas que nosotros calificaríamos "de lo peor", que nos hacen en ocasiones dudar de la existencia de un Dios o que la ciencia médica es negligente con nuestros enfermos.More Like This

Celebrate deviantART's 13th Birthday!More Like This
On the day of your birth, you were likely surrounded by those who loved you, who would lead you through the rough first scary years of life, and who would stand by as you grew into a capable person. As time passed, others may have drifted into your life, and even if you didn't know it, they also nurtured and cared for you in much the same way, helping to shape the person you would become.
When a community like deviantART is born, the same common thread binds its originators and founding members together. Over the years, more and more creative beings drift into its life and strengthen its core every single day, resulting in an exponentially inspirational powerhouse for the sheer fact that they've become a part of it. That nurturing spirit, that inherent support system, that caring community inspires deviantART to grow, and it comes from inside each and every one of you.

Today, I write this journal on behalf of my dear boyfriend *Bulano who now suffers Traumatic Brain Injury as a result of being hit by a drunk driver.
He had left work around 3am'ish from a night shift. He then ended up being struck by a car and *Bulano's car ended up rolling vertically 4 times. The driver's car ended up going into flames. A passing Chevy stopped and called the police and stayed at the scene. To my surprise, *Bulano was able to get out of his car (his side airbags cushioned the wreck) and seemed to be fine. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene and DUI (Driving Under Influence of Alcohol). *Bulano was checked over and had injured rotation cuffs and a stiff neck. He claimed to be fine with minor injuries. Which was to me, a mir
The ugly side of the cosplay communityI wasn't going to write about this, because my sis and I don't care about people who spend their time posting hateful comments about cosplayers. To be honest I laugh and feel sorry for those commenters.More Like This
You all have probably seen it, people whine about anything like how the cosplayers look, the way they sew, the way they pose, etc... "Omg it's not perfect!" Who in this world is perfect? No one. For instance, I can't help it, but I like to make derp looks in photos XD
One of the main points they bring up on cosplayers is their looks. When I was young I was stupid. I was very critical about myself and everything that happened around me. All of that has changed though. I have a scar across my belly and I bet many girls wouldn't want that, but the scar means a lot to me. It reminds me that I was near death and the doctors

I have recently come across a most disturbing phenomenon in my studies of the Diabolic Infestation of the Soul. It seems there is a most frightening psychological conundrum when considering the concept of demonic possession even the most remote possibility of reality upon our earthly plane is the notion that just believing it may be true could very likely be the spark needed for the Demon to discover, seek out, and ultimately inhabit its next vessel of evil: You.

There is one’s bedroom, one’s home, neighborhood, school and town, state and nation. Early on, maps become important documents – declarations of being and rights and privileges. In the art world, throughout history, maps have been a constant measure of human progress, from the Phoenecians recording their trade routes over 2000 years ago, or pre-Columbian t

To see something like this while browsing for serious prospective employees on another busy work sunday on a serious talent search site that is totally serious business guys is totally going to get you banned from the art world and loose you all the jobz you would have gotten that day! This is an outrageous prank! This is not what DA is about!
Come on guys, perspective.
If your gallery is so important to your life and career that you can not stand to have even one of your precious thumbnails momentarily obscured lest every employer decide that cats are no longer the "in" thing this year and black list you from the industry, you probably shouldn't be on DA. Yes, some people get a lot of traffic from DA, but lets be honest, this is not an appropriate site in which to host any kind of serious portfolio. Fine,

Heart's Desire: the making ofI'm no cartoonist, but I'm pretty sure someone out there is going to appreciate this (I've always wanted to make these things, anyway!). Here I go in depth about the writing and artistic process of making the "Heart's Desire" comic that seemed to be fairly successful. It's a tad long-winded, but if you're interested at all it in the details, here it is.More Like This
The artistic process was fairly simple and made easy because I had scaled down the original image. The sketches were actually twice as large, but SAI couldn't handle that size. Reducing it helped me significantly, since it was what made the whole process really fast and done in less than a week.
It starts off with a basic sketch; most of the scenes had already been imagined in my head, with just the ending sequence being sketched out on the whim.
Outlines were refined, as well as black borders. I just filled the entire canvas black and cropped out squares for the panels. Not a really good idea for comic making, but I ne

I Am Badjan
Told from the viewpoint of Badjan Kholi
The day my heart tore in two, I was alone. I couldn’t understand how one that had been so close to me, so very close, could possibly do such a thing to me. But then, that was months before my heart broke, months before I died inside. For now she wanted, no, needed, my help again. What was I to do?
I often contemplated the actions that led me up to that moment when I had to make a decision. Such actions were never easy to take, and I realized years later that I should have remained in my place, doing what I was meant to do all along. Then again, there was no place to call my own, and I was never meant to do anything.
There was no one to speak of these things with as I reflected on them. I was always alone, after my banishment, at least. I was brought into the world meant to be a failure, meant to be this person that would just cause havoc and grief to anyone that came into c
