We walk together, side by side.
Not touching, but still feeling the other's being.
Approaching the dark alleyway that means freedom.
Slowly crossing the invisible threshold that is our escape.
Frantically reaching, she grabs my hand, as if I am the only thing keeping her grounded.
I turn to glance down at the entwined fingers swaying with our gaits.
It is only then, that I realize how much my heart aches for these moments.
Walking in the dark, just us two, without people to stare and judge.
Without the shattered esteem to help us refrain, I stop, standing in a lonely door-frame.
She turns, feeling the magnetic pull of my thoughts.
Beating her to it, I move my head and our foreheads meet.

At the speed of light, we are kissing.
