It is that time when you can post your thoughts or ideas about new Apophysis. Yes, it is under its way
Be warned though, the new major version number is not for nothing... Apophysis 3 will be a huge step forward.
The most important thing is it will support layers. Every layer can be a flame, a background,
a time-escaped fractal... and probably other types, too. A single design can have as many layers, as you can create.
Isn't it fascinating?
It's also one and the only moment when we can get rid of Delphi and scripting library - finally! It's in C++ with Qt4,
which means it's portable and relatively easy for other coders to mess with it as they like.
The main design is ready, skeleton code is up and running - now I ne

Global Warming +11Please see updates at the end of the journal.More Like This
I just finished reading the book COLLAPSE, How Societies Choose to Fail or Succed by Jared Diamond.
The book presents a detailed and sometimes tedious list of reasons for which some past societies have disappeared. A major reason, or in some cases the only reason, for that collapse is the mismanagement of ecological problems. Either the problem was neglected, or was discovered but not solved appropriately or solved with the wrong response.
We are generally well informed about global warming and probably tend to simplify the problem by taking just this issue. Al Gore's "The Inconvenient Truth" has contributed to clarify and spread this danger. However, the book in question identifies 12 major ecological problems, one of which is global warming.
As a very brief and biased summary of the book, I include below the list of the 12 problems.
1. Destruction of natural habitats.
2. Overuse of wild foods, especially fish.
3. Extermination of wild

Welcome to another edition of The F Word. On this edition, i have an interview with lyc. Please enjoy my interview with him.
can you please introduce yourself?
My name's Thomas Ludwig, I'm a 28 year old graphics programmer living in UK/NZ. I work for Glare Technologies on Indigo Renderer, and recently also the fractal renderer Chaotica.
What is the first thing that makes you attracted to Fractal Art?
I first played with Fractint way back in the DOS days... colour cycling was one of the cooler things to do back then, but I didn't give much thought to the mathematical basis of these images. In 2003 or so I learnt about the flame fractal algorithm from Scott Draves' paper, and since then have been addicted to IFS fractals in general on a theoretical level. Purely

WHY YOUR MENTIONS DON'T WORK Hello everyoneMore Like This
This journal contains very important information for all of us so I ask you to please share it so other people can see it and know this isn't a bug.
Over the last month I've had trouble in sending mentions and possibly receiving them as well. I've posted two journals, one on August 5th and one on August 25th in which I tagged and featured people, but I was surprised and confused when people told me they didn't receive my mentions. WHY, I asked myself. I posted a comment on both the journals in which I copy-pasted all the people I tagged originally, but they didn't get the notification this time either. WHY, I asked myself again.
Right after this I got around and a

Flower Festival 2015Hi allMore Like This
For the months of July into early September we are running a Flowers Challenge. We know that many of you enjoy making this type of fractal and hope that lots of you will take the time to make something pretty. Flowers can be generated in most if not all fractal software. For instance Ultra Fractal, Apophysis and Mandelbuld 3D maybe Incendia and Chaotica, Frax even. I don't have user knowledge of a lot of fractal software so will be guided by you, but please.... no manipulations. Show off you skills with Raw Fractals. I guess an exception would be Light Maps used for colour and with DIFS.
UF users might want to explore the flower shapes in RKB.ulb, though I know there are lots of other ways to make flowers. and if any one knows a good tut for Apo flowers then do leave us a comment and I'll add it to the details

Mine is, hands down, Sala samobójców. It is not a masterpiece, but it is. For me, at least. I loved it because it connected to me on a deeper level than any other movie i've seen to this date, the same level as this poem did today . Congrats on the DD once again
Back to the point. I loved this movie. It might seem foolish to those who have no insight on how the smallest things can affect you when you are in fragile mental state (not that the action in the movie was based around stupid, small things). I loved this movie because it is real, not some Hollywood overrated crap. This is really happening, people go through this. Alone. They are scared, they feel misunderstood. Anyone who read my old journals and talked to me on private knows i've been fighting with my depression demons since i was a teenager and because of that i love this movie.

Holiday Card Project 2014More Like This
The deviantART #HolidayCardProject is back for its 8th year! With the goal of bringing a bit of holiday cheer to patients in the hospital during the holiday season, the Holiday Card Project connects artists from around the world, applying their tremendous artistic abilities to designing and creating uplifting holiday cards.
In 2013 alone, the Project received more than 5,000 cards sent in by more than 2,000 deviants from 60 different countries/political regions. Cards were then divvied up and distributed by deviantART members to local Los Angeles hospitals, with additional cards given to various hospitals in the U.S. and abroad for deviantART volunteers and hospital staff members to hand out to patients.
The idea behind the Holiday Card Project is simple: do something nice for others. However, if you're looking for even more incentive, every deviant who sends in a card will

First of all , please introduce yourself to the community.
My name is Matt. I’m 35 and I live in San Diego, California, United States with my wife. I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in computer science in 2001 and have been working ever since writing software. This project was done outside of my full-time job as a senior software developer.
And, of course, tell us about your software.
My project has several pieces and can be found here:https://github.com/mfeemster/fractorium/wiki
Before I give the details, I’d like to preface it by saying this is beta software, so you might find bugs or things that you don’t like. Rather than reject it, I would really appreciate feedback so I can incorporate good ideas into future releases.
With that out of the way, here it is:
