"Let me go! Let me go!"
The man was pudgy and round-faced, his skin blotted with red coloring as he choked out helplessly to be freed. Veronica looked down at him coolly. Her face revealed nothing. Not a hint of compassion, or contempt, or even concern crossed her features. She was all business. And this man was just another part of that business.
"Keep him still, please. It's hard to read him when he's being jostled," she requested of the men struggling in vain to keep a firm grasp on the piggish man. They were reapers, just like she was. Veronica barely knew them and, honestly, she didn't see any reason why she should know them any more than she did. She rarely spoke to anyone outside of work, whether it was her day job or...this job. She was very used to being alone. Veronica didn't suspect her fellow reapers or company coworkers cared what she did or who she was outside of business. Veronica was, after all, a 'difficult person.'
