Garrus's new Appearance from Mass Effect 3

The armor texture was modified by me because i liked the looks of Garrus's alternate appearance pack armor from ME2. The template has by default the original non-modified appearance, and has the one I've used as optional textures.

Approximately scaled to XenonRay's other Mass Effect models, for consistency.

Difficulty: Hard

Gambol Shroud The Variant Ballistic Chain Scythe

For those of you wondering where the ballistic chain scythe aspect comes from it refers to a mode of the weapon shown in the trailer where it is able to collapse be swung around like a sickle and chain. For this build however I’ve decided to keep it just in the sword form and leave that version possibly for a later date.

Build Notes

To start off with I cut out and shaped out the blade of the katana from a piece of pine using a jigsaw and a belt sander; I should note that there is a section along the top of the blade that juts up and sharpening the blade along the curves around it was greatly aided with the use of a drum grinding bit.

For the handle itself that consisted of layering pieces of cardboard and PVC sheets on top of one another to build out the bulk shape and various raised details. The exposed gaps that run along the side of the handle were filled in with Bondo/Automotive body filler and sanded away with sandpaper and a handheld sander.

Next the scabbard internals were made by layering cardboard cut-outs of the scabbard outline on one another and cutting away the recesses of where the blade of would sit making sure to take into account the clearance for the notch at the top of the blade; Sealing the outermost layers with glued on PVC sheeting to hide the grainy surface of the cardboard.

To build up the bevel of the scabbard blade and to seal off the still exposed grainy cardboard surfaces, again I turned to Bondo/ automotive body filler smearing the compound and sanding away repeatedly until a surface finish I liked was achieved and finished off with the outermost layers with segments of PVC sheets to do the details.

For the initial paint job that consisted of a base two coats of grey primer, then a coat flat black and a final layer of grey done with acrylic paints; the silver part of the handle and the white stripes were achieved with spray paints.

After finishing the paintjob, though still impressive looking and resembling the weapon depicted in the trailer I decide to have little fun with this prop and did some dry brush weathering to give it a more battle damaged worn look.

Using some chrome model paint and an old brush I did quick light strokes all along the various edges and nooks and crannies of the prop to really bring out the lines and simulate some wear and tear revealing the “metal” underneath so it doesn’t look like it just came out of the factory but has been at some point plunged into a robot’s torso ^^.

For more Info on the Build
The Build Writeup

Overall like with all the RWBY builds to date I have absolutely adored the making process and how it’s turned out; In particular loved the weathering paint job, something I recommend you all try out at some point on your own making adventures.

So now with that out the way I wonder what ever it is I’ll be working on next… ^_^

Finally finished this Gundam! can't believe I started with this project last year! haha, anyway, I've introduced the "Background colour" to this model because there were some annoying white pieces over the model which would look better with it.
Also included the possibility to build Open and/or Closed wings!
Test build was made by :iconairasumi: as well as the photographs!
The .rar contains: 9 PDOs, 9 PDFs as well, 21 Pages for the model (If you build only 1 pair of wings)

The finished papercraft of the Chain Warden's soul lantern.
The model stands at 5 inches tall with its 45 pieces on 3 pages. Please be aware that some of the pieces of this model are small.
You can download your own from here :pointr: www.mediafire.com/download/u27…: The .pdo are also open if you want them larger or smaller than the current size. Any feedback to make it better/easier if you make this would be appreciated.

he meassures 80cm and has been my hardest build yet. I built him in 160g-paper. the grand assembly made me cry. for real. I mean, it was HARD. I had to go with double sided strong tape on some parts because they just fell off otherwise. but I'm very pleased with the outcome and I'm really proud too.

the hair proved harder than the face even, but I've put it together so you can all enjoy a perfect papercraft War! <3

"Damarus hails from the Mobeth tribe of the Gen Mo'Kai where he's the son of their leader Gik Ma.
Being the leader's son might mean a life of pampering for some, but Damarus won't have any of that and he's dedicated his life to winning the tournament.
Quick and agile, this guy is more about making the finesse kill rather than overkill with heavy weapons. Still, a kill is a kill."

ok, in the first version i wrote i'm proud and happy, well that was not really true.

after quite a month of building NOW i'm proud and happy to bring you this one ^^;
and i'm glad that i can share it with you

Model specifications:
pieces: about 370 pieces
height: about 40 cm (printed on A3)
pages: 19

File specifications:
file size: 61 MB
the download file contains three different pdo's
-one without texture and the folding lines
-one with texture and no folding line (for experts ;) )
-and one with the texture and the folding lines

a more ore less detailed instruction
and a package with 14 different textures

the package also includes the sheets for the lightning gun (you can see it on the picture)

i don't added the pdf files, because every file would be 20MB big, so you need the Pepakura Viewer which you can download here

the pdo files are not protected so if you have the Designer, you can still change the size of the model

to download just click the download button :P

....

anything else?
ah right, i promised you something
why this model is so important for me?

well, let me tell you
let's go a little bit back in time
since the first Unreal was released, i'm a big fan of this series
the story was stunning and something complete different to the other stuff out in this time.
Unreal Tournament, the great competitor to the quake series, was the next step.

in 2002, UT2003 was released and it was overwhelming.
the model design was mouthstunning and never seen before. But there was one race that stood out against the others.
The Gen Mo'Kai
and i swear to you, i never played other chars :D

hm.. i currently noticed, that ut2004 is wrong
but not really, i used the 2004 model
so what else

in 2003 a news drove through the scene
that one guy, you may know him as "radioactiveclown" build some action figures from ut2003

you will find some images here in the DA gallery

you can imagine, as a fan this is "that" thing
but without any creditcard ore other opportunities
no chance
but I've never given up

quite month ago, i registered myself in the nintendo/pokemon papercraft forums and found a thread about converting models from 3d games.
i ask if it would be possible to get one out of the unreal engine
and they told me "yes, but they don't know how"
well, i took the chance and you can see the result ^^;

now, after seven years of waiting, my own Damarus figure stand beside me on my desk and is watching over me :P
even if it's only paper, it's worth more than it could a purchased ever be :)

to download the model
click on the download button on the right side
you can thank dA for, that i can't write the direct link anymore

Hello everyone !!!

FINALLY !!! As you can see, Ogremon is now complete and ready to be downloaded ! This guy was a loooot of troubles but damn he looks awesome !!
The model is really hard to build and contains everything a Papercrafter can consider a Nightmare : toes, fingers, spikes, horns, teeth and hair... THE HORROOOR !! Llama Emoji-07 (Hopeless or Scared) [V1]
But, it really worth all the troubles but it's absolutely not a beginner friendly model !
I've put a loooooot of building tips in the pdo, I hope it will help !

UPDATE: This update won't effect everybody but i just fixed the initial size settings of the window, so the "canvas" size of the skin is just what the window is.
This means if you want you can use Y'z Shadow and include vlc in the settings so it will show a shadow, just makes it look more refined. You can also do this on vista, just look for Y'z shadow 2.2 or later.

UPDATE 2: Fixed the automatic resize of new movies. Now the window will resize upon opening

SilentVLC for windows VLC player 1.0.0+
Place in Program files>VideoLAN>VLC>Skins then open the skin in preferences

-Completely resizable window
-Sleek black design

I couldn't get the EQ button to open the equalizer so instead it just enables the presets of the EQ or disables it. To change the EQ you have to right click the window select interface and open Extended Settings.

To change back to the default interface you open settings and change interface type to native

*About the crashing of vlc on exit, download VLC 1.0.0 and this will fix it

And I finally submitted my video tutorial :la: Thanks a lot to dA staff for accepting my request for film submissions  Anyway, this is video tutorial for painting anime eyes (it's my anime style...it's not moe style, lol ;P). Here you'll be able to see my whole progress how I paint eyes (and skin)... I also explained which tools I used, Opacity, layer modes...and such. At first I just draw/sketch the eye, then I show you how I color it (black and white technique) and at the end it comes coloring and finishing the painting :dummy: I hope you'll learn something new. And I also played music at the end of the tutorial. It's actually a little longer, but I put just the end of the song here (I needed few days to made up a song). :D

INTRODUCTION

It's finally done! And it only took me a matter of days. So allow me to present you....

"SHIROI" A LIGHT MINIMAL THEME FOR WINDOWS 7.

NOTE: I know this is very long, so I took the liberty of dividing this up into sections- just keep an eye out for the BOLD CAPITALIZED text. Future themes won't be this long in the future.

Cheers!

***********************************************

INSTALLATION

1. Use uxthemepatcher x86 or x64 (depending on your system) to patch the files necessary to use 3rd party themes (themes not made by Microsoft). Pretty self-explanatory. Restart.

2. Extract the contents of Shiroi's "theme" folder to C:WindowsResourcesThemes.

3. Turn off the ugly blur behind the windows by using "Aeroblurtweaker." If it gives you an error message stating that you don't have permission, then you need to "Take Ownership" of the specified file. You can do this by using the other tool provided and install "TakeOwnership.reg." Once that's complete, right click the file that you need to gain access to, and select "Take Ownership."

4. Right click on your desktop to open the "Personalization" options, and select "Shiroi" from the menu. That's it!

INTRODUCTION

This is my first FINAL, and COMPLETE theme. The previous theme I released was only a BETA and its target audience was mainly testers and those who wanted to provide constructive for me so that I can improve the theme...

I was largely inspired by the Windows XP VS "Case" ([link] by ~maximhuz because I really wanted a light grayscale theme for Windows 7, but hadn't really seen any that'd peaked my interest. So, I decided to make one of my own.

Included in the zip file are a few resources to help you get the theme installed, and the theme itself ONLY. I haven't created the resources for it yet but will get on it soon. These include a shellstyle.dll, explorerframe.dll, and more. For now, I am using "Gnome Colors," which I am in LOVE with right now- the link to which will be posted below where I state the resources I used in the screenshot.

Anyway, I hope you all like what this theme has to offer! I worked really hard on it, and am very pleased with the results. There are a few bugs I've noticed that I'll also try and get worked out, but didn't feel like they disrupted the theme TOO much to prevent its release.

By the way... If you comment noting a bug that is already listed here, then will be obvious to me that you did NOT read the description, and I will not respond to you. I repeat. I am WORKING on these. I'm sorry, I don't like being too redundant.

CURRENT BUGS INCLUDE....

:bulletblue: rouge lists in Firefox
:bulletblue: a little work on the explorer frame borders
:bulletblue: some weird bug where if you move the taskbar, the system tray goes haywire. D:
:bulletblue: And lastly, I need to find the location of some fonts, or add the font property to various locations like the task manager, and properties window for the start menu.

Also worth mentioning...

THIS IS AN AERO THEME. This does NOT support Basic. Not yet, at least. Also, this does not support right or left taskbars. I overlooked this while making the theme, but will be adding this in my first update.

**********************************************

Any questions or suggestions? Feel free to let me know! :pencil: Anything you like in particular, or something you would like to see changed? Feel free to let me know! I may provide additional .msstyles in future updates for this theme, so feedback is encouraged!

RESOURCES

:bulletgreen: "Gnome Colors Patcher" by ~heebijeebi [link] (Comes conveniently in an .exe file for easy installation)
:bulletgreen: "Punto" by ~kiko11 [link] (one of my favorite themers!)

Okay, so that's pretty much it. Hope you enjoy the theme, and keep an eye out for updates!

- You need a patched system for using theme : [link] or : [link]

- Place the 7pro.theme and 7pro folder in your x:\Windows\Resources\Themes folder.

- For the StartButton you have to replace Explorer.exe in your Windows directory. if the explorer.exe don't work, maybe because a windows update, use the Windows 7 Start Button Changer: [link]

Someone has stolen my templates and tried to sell them for profit. Please do not purchase my work from the art thief. These papercrafts are to remain free for personal use.

Posting this before my hard drive crashes and my computer dies of aids. (Actually, it should be fixed by now.)I am very proud of this paper, as I finally overcame the challenge of making the Fedora. I jacked the pattern for the hat from Indiana Jones, lol. :D

I recommend making this as big as possible, I obviously wasn't thinking when I printed it out and had trouble pieceing it together on account of its size.

I will be making Future arc, soon and would like to know your thoughts. Especially yours, :iconbluerevived:, what do you have in mind for Bluebell's clothing? (not that she wears any. It's just a black coat, right?) :3

I just had to take a picture of Amaterasu in my garden, it's only natural....(pun intended;)...oh I am so lame...)

Amaterasu, Goddess of the Sun from the game Okami.

Made with different coloured/textured card and hot glue. I experimented with a different type of armature this time. Instead of having a wire 'skeleton' I scrunched up pieces of scrap paper to give the overall form and began building on top of it. I found this way better as you can see the final overall form instead of just a skeleton.

This model is about 23cm from head to tail. I removed the solar disk in the back view to expose the flowy hair (most fun part to make)

I know this isn't typical of me but I thought I'd upload it!

This is my first attempt at paper sculpture (it's of one of my dolls). It's technically 2D but it pops up to be 3D with all the pieces cut and shaped and everything. It was a lot of fun. Just paper and glue.
edit: the size is about 42cm/17in in height.

edit: whoa! thank you so much for the DD, I'm honored!

I had oodles of trouble downloading this so this is a little distorted but, you'll get the idea of how cute these hedgehogs are.

Card making is a passion of mine. Each card is one of a kind as I never make two the same.

I use many techniques, medias, layers and colors for each card. They sparkle, shine, bring on smiles, and warm the heart.

As with all of my cards, there are layers upon layers, giving a great 3D effect.

Thanks for looking and I hope this brings a smile to your face!

finally done
oh man, what a night :aww:
i wrote in the last journal entry that i had the feeling that i'm stuck on this
but after the entry it went into the opposite and the work goes on and on.

i doesn't took any other photos of the build because it would take more then i expected
at the end i had all parts assembled with the others
and i never cursed/sweared more then at this one :D

the only advice what i can give you is to build this very careful
start with the two front part, add this little pieces (on the same page) add the disc and curles/shells/screws/spiral flames ( :P ) and front legs
end with the tail and the last part should be the right rear leg
that's the way i build it.

again i must put some weight into one leg, beause of the tail and the sword, the model falls over.
so put something into the rear right leg before you close it.

fazit:
one of the hardest models that i had, but only because of the pieces.
there are brutal unnecessary complicated

however i'm happy that I decided to build it
it's really an awesome model
but never again :D

Yeah! at last, Rarity! Have fun!

finished Photo: [link]

Tips: i recommend using Superglue, specially for attaching finished hair pieces to head. whatch out your fingertips!

order:

1 cut all

2 prepare each piece (use this for help a little:[link] )

3 glue the double hair pieces and comb them before they are completely dried. this way they will not crack or get funny shapes.

4 finish rest of the body but do not glue legs yet.

5 now glue the hair pieces to the head you can also glue bits of the hair to the cheeks to help attain form. (you will see that in the finished photo)

6 when done, insert tail and then paste the legs...this way is easier to maintain a pose and equilibrium. (XD)

Done!

Well, at last! my second favorite main character!. it took much longer than expected to make.
Also: my apologies for a flattened Winona. Wanted to make something simple but not so flat.
I used for reference This image [link] revectorized by :iconatomicgreymon:
i did not asked for permission for a lack of time but i will send a note right now, so if she/he says something i will edit this removing winona from the pattern. i do not want to steal the hard work of others...i just could not fin a proper capture of winona.

Ok, so I went a little overboard with this but it’s totally mine!

I wanted to make a pillow for myself, as I’ve sold all of the other ones I’ve made I wanted to push the boundaries and make something gigantic!

The N64 was the first console that introduced me to the Zelda games, so it means a lot to me. I also loved its unique shape and the controller overall was one of the best I’ve ever played on (analog stick ftw)

This is my new gaming pillow, I’ll be using it whilst slouching around playing Animal Crossing :D

Made from:

-Antipil polar fleece in light and medium grey, yellow, green, red and blue
-Embroidered buttons and embroidered letters on the front, shoulder buttons and Z button on the reverse (still practising at circles!)
-Printed cotton logo, with applique edges

Thanks to papa for the photos!

EDIT

:bulletred: This has been shared on so many websites now, I think I've lost count!

Nintendo Life, Tokyopop, CeX, Geeks are Sexy, Obvious Winner, Cheezburger, Retro Game Network, Go Nintendo and many many others! Thanks to all of your for liking and sharing!

Well, haven't my messages just gone insane!
So many people have been asking me about this pillow as it seems to have been featured a lot on sites these past few days. If anyone is interested in a pillow this size or smaller, please note me for more details.

This is exactly how the sword photographs with out any glow effect in post processing.

This is close up of sword hilt, was mostly made by ~Dionysus80. The blade is made out of wood planks glued together with an aluminum rod in the middle. Shaped with a belt sander. The hilt is made out of styrene, MDF, and the guard is made from two casted plastic pieces. ~Dionysus80 made one side, then we made a mold and casted the two sides to make the whole guard. The other hilt pieces are lathed and the end one contains the battery and switch. Painted with automotive paint.

I accidentally hit the sword against something at the con and it has to be repainted....I feel kinda horrible since it was pretty deep and it now has to be repainted the whole thing, bc of the clear coat.

These are the artworks that I spent the most time on, they took me probably 3 or 4 times to get right. IMO these are my best works so they are gonna priced at $27 in my etsy shop. These pieces are made to order so expect 1-3 days for completion, occasionally I may have leftovers from conventions in which case I will send them out immediately. They are made of ironed perler beads, they are pretty durable as long as you don't do stupid stuff with them like sit on them or intentionally try to make them snap. You can hang them on your wall or put magnets on the back of them as they are very light weight. I put a fishing line through each one of them so hanging them up will be a breeze.

Once you make your order, contact me so I know which one you want via email or PM.

All these characters are referenced from AbyssWolf's Card Saga Wars

Wanted to set myself a project to practise prop-making.
The dagger design is supposed to resemble a wing.

It looks the same on each side of the blade.

Thanks for all the :+fav:s!!!

Update:
My university workload is keeping me far too busy to produce any batches for the time being.
After my final submission (some time around June 2014) I should finally have time to sort out some kind of store.
I may get an unforeseen break at some point before this to produce some batches, but it's unlikely.
Sorry to everyone who has shown interest - I'll message you as soon as I have some for sale!

A Tribute to Hans Ruedi Giger

Tue May 20, 2014, 6:29 PM
Untitled-1 by techgnotic

He was an artist you might not know.

But you’ve met his children…

It’s rare that a “new” iconic monster is born and becomes forever identifiable,—— no matter the variations, by generation after generation. So it was when George Romero created the ultimate “zombie” in his Night of the Living Dead in 1968. Zombie Apocalypse fans today may have never heard of George or seen the original “Night,” but the zombies they so love in fare like The Walking Dead owe their existence to Romero’s original vision.

In 1979, screenwriter Dan O’Bannon crafted a horror script by starting with neither a story idea nor a hero protagonist to follow.

He built his script around the monster itself, knowing only that he wanted the frights to come from more-and-more revealing glimpses of one of artist H.R. Giger’s mad creations. That monster, the alien in Alien (1979), has now become what everyone knows a space alien to be. Most movie aliens since Alien have been modified versions of Giger’s creation. Giger is the father of today’s aliens, as Romero is the father of today’s zombies.

Giger, who died May 12, was a nocturnal hermit painter, sculptor and set designer whose strength was translating nightmare visions into his bizarre works of art, many of which exuded a perverse sexuality. He is usually classified as a “surrealist,” but he called his art “biomechanics,” with its subjects often appearing to be hybrid living organic creatures having bodies melded with mechanical parts.

Brain Salad Surgeryby H.R. Giger

The 1970s generation will never get his album cover for Emerson, Lake & Palmer’s Brain Salad Surgery out of their heads. Punk rock’s Dead Kennedys’ album Frankenchrist featured Giger’s painting, Penis Landscape, resulting in an obscenity trial for lead songer Jello Biafra. Giger’s first published book of artworks was 1977’s Necronomicon, named in homage to horror writer H.P. Lovecraft.

Giger was a touchstone artist for those in the 70s & 80s who sought to shake up the establishment with a walk on the wild side. Today he is thought of by many artists as being one of the exemplars of letting the mind go free—to explore either the light or the darkness—and be fearless in sharing what was found there in one’s art. His art might be considered “safe” today, but he was a real inspiration to many of today’s artists.

To help a fellow deviant, I've put together a download that anyone with Gimp 2.8 on Linux can use to make their copy of gimp look more like Adobe Photoshop and make people more comfortable.

I've taken various bits of guides online and various tweaks. All you have to do is download the file, unzip it. Then in the file manager go to your home folder, show hidden files, delete or move your old .gimp-2.8 configuration folder out of the way, and replace with the new one. Then load gimp. Then me know if it works for you or if it fails.

Update: Icon were blurry in the original icon theme. I've patched them all up to be much clearer.
Update2: The drop here text is now gone and the default background when loading is the same dark grey.
