This is exactly how the sword photographs with out any glow effect in post processing.

This is close up of sword hilt, was mostly made by ~Dionysus80. The blade is made out of wood planks glued together with an aluminum rod in the middle. Shaped with a belt sander. The hilt is made out of styrene, MDF, and the guard is made from two casted plastic pieces. ~Dionysus80 made one side, then we made a mold and casted the two sides to make the whole guard. The other hilt pieces are lathed and the end one contains the battery and switch. Painted with automotive paint.

I accidentally hit the sword against something at the con and it has to be repainted....I feel kinda horrible since it was pretty deep and it now has to be repainted the whole thing, bc of the clear coat.

These are the artworks that I spent the most time on, they took me probably 3 or 4 times to get right. IMO these are my best works so they are gonna priced at $27 in my etsy shop. These pieces are made to order so expect 1-3 days for completion, occasionally I may have leftovers from conventions in which case I will send them out immediately. They are made of ironed perler beads, they are pretty durable as long as you don't do stupid stuff with them like sit on them or intentionally try to make them snap. You can hang them on your wall or put magnets on the back of them as they are very light weight. I put a fishing line through each one of them so hanging them up will be a breeze.

Once you make your order, contact me so I know which one you want via email or PM.

All these characters are referenced from AbyssWolf's Card Saga Wars

Hello all!

Concerning my last journal post, I've been having quite the difficult time on resolution numero dos--that being to doodle at least once per day to sharpen skills and heighten activity on this page. Sadly, it seems that I've lacked, err, "proper" inspiration as I have completely seem to have lost motivation to draw or doodle in the slightest. And anything I currently produce is not up to par with my earlier works.

However, there seems to be more to it.

For those who may not have known, (pertaining to no one at all haha.) you can safely assume that I mainly draw anime. While this certainly is true, I also have a knack into drawing realism and appear to handle it much better than anime. However, I also seem to have a whacky pattern concerning the two...once I feel that I am "sucking" at one of the two styles, it's a red flag indicating that I should focus on the other and thus I draw the other awfully well (In my case) and vice versa.

As odd as that may sound, this is exactly what seems to be happening at this very moment. I cannot, for the life of me, draw a single, simple anime figure the way I wish. So now I find myself focusing on realism. (Though it may most likely meader into blending both styles. You know--anime realism!) But, as stated before, I lack inspiration, and by finding some I believe I will have to just go with the flow and follow what I currently wish to do.

And so, as a fair warning, I would like to say that I may or may not be submitting some crap from this point on in order to up my ante to it's original level.

I dearly hope this doesn't bewilder or annoy anyone, so I hope some may look forward to it!

Randomness of the Day: I would like to promote two classmates of mine :iconbunny-hopp-ns: and :iconmmhinman: in their amazing work! I seriously admire the both of them to the point of biting my thumbnail in lieu of just viewing thier art pieces! Cheers to the both of them!

Also, psst this video project is amazing.

I am in the mood of a complete wig-out since I have the oppertunity to send a message/freely talk to two of my idols and I don't know how but I did my best with one and I just know I'll die once I get a reply oh man it's been awhile since I've had this feeling! :iconeeeeeplz:

I have been getting a lot of traffic today from Reddit and some grumbles about the price I set for the Appas. Let me break this down to help you guys understand!

Time spent on each Appa: 10 - 15 hours, depending on pose and details.
Price: $150

Hourly rate: $10/hour - $15 hour, give or take.

After paying 30% self-employment tax to Uncle Sam: $7 - $10/hour

Minimum wage where I live: $8/hour

So while the final price appears so steep for something so small, I am not making much more than minimum wage for my effort! And that was OK - felting isn't my bread and butter and I enjoyed making Appas for people. I wasn't trying to rip anyone off, I just wanted some compensation for my time :)

:iconbpresing: I apologize for spoiling your surprise, I can't sit on this much longer! He doesn't have his final "accessory" just yet, but that will come in time. Baby Appa himself is effectively finished, he's got his back stripes and everything. I should have given him a wire armature to be able to pose those legs better, I think. Live and learn!

Will update once his sidekick is finished ;)

Edit: I've been getting a lot of requests to buy this little guy, so thank you very much for asking! While he's already going to a new owner, I want to put it out there that although he's small, he took many, many hours to complete and would be priced around $150. I don't mean to scare people off but I wanted to give a frame of reference.

Second Edit: You know, I was going to felt a very small Momo to sit upon Baby Appa's belly, but after two tries and two Momos that came out too big for this Appa, I give up. Baby Appa is done and is his own stand alone piece ;) I'll still finish one of the mini Momos and post that in its own time.

Time: 60+ hours.
Materials: TRADITIONAL. Copic multiliner and Copic sketch markers.
Size: 3 pieces of A4 paper taped together (approximately 11.5 x 22 inches), digitally connected using Photoshop CS3.

WALKTHROUGH: [link]

There are 18 Elebits total (the little red and blue creatures). Can you find them all?

If you guys were wondering about my sudden two-month hiatus, THIS WAS WHY. I've been working on and off (mostly off OTL;; ) on this piece for about 6 weeks in preparation for Anime Expo artist alley. Consider it a tribute to all the games and gamers out there!

The Nintendo DS is probably my favorite console along with my trusty old school PS2. DS ports many of my favorite series, so I figured I can cram them all into one picture since I'm too lazy to draw separate pictures of each of the O3O

It was very hard choosing which games to put in here. If I had more time and paper space, I'd stick quite a few more in there, but was big enough as it is. There is a total of 47 characters from 16 different games in this piece.

The sketching was the hardest and longest part, for sure. Coloring went relatively smooth except for those little elebits that's practically invading every corner of the picture. The smallest one is about 1/3 the size of my fingernail. I spent some time studying the art of each game because I didn't want to deviate TOO far from the original style. Each game has its own way of lining and coloring, and I tried to incorporate those aspects into my own style without having everything look like a huge mess. I ended up with a somewhat organized clutter.

Drawing and coloring the picture was only half battle. Connecting three separately scanned pictures took about five hours on its own. I became very acquainted with the clone tool because of this. Sadly, a lot of the colors and shades were lost through scanning. I had to go back and adjust individual colors to make it look like the original, but there are still some that can't be fixed (darn those reds and oranges) orz;;

Girl playing the DS in the front designed by me.
Game characters (c) whoever they belong to.

List of games included: Final Fantasy (Chocobo Tales, Tactics, Crystal Chronicles), Pokemon, Professor Layton, Super Mario, Mario Kart, World Ends With You, Kirby, Elebits, Phoenix Wright, Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Harvest Moon, Disgaea, Bomberman, Ninja Town.

Also, I'M SORRY IF I DIDN'T INCLUDE YOUR FAVORITE GAME. I COULDN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE AFTER FILLING THREE PIECES OF PAPER.

These are some shoes that I designed for a Vans Custom Culture competition. Some of my fellow classmates and I entered as a team ( this was my contribution to our "line" of shoes). They are supposed to represent balance needed for a country to function, and the balance you need to walk. I hope you like them, they were fun to do! A wood carving, done in what I'm 90% sure is pin cherry. The mix of heart and sap wood gives it the variation in color. Done with mix of hand and power tools, the sanding was (as always) the worst part. I originally meant to giver her a head of steel hair, but having finished the carving and done all that sanding I couldnt bear to fill her nice smooth head with little holes. I soon after carved another entire head, just to try out the nail crewcut (also up here).

Detail shot of an experimental piece. Dryad figure is sculpted in epoxy putty (my first epoxy sculpt, it worked better than I thought it would) onto a plum tree branch, textured with acrylic impasto media and painted with acrylics to blend into the bark. Somewhat successful, at least more so than any of my previous efforts to sculpt figures directly into natural branches.

Dryad, quince wood, oak, epoxy resin acrylic, 2010

detailed closeup

The largest and most complicated of the epoxy dryads I've done, she's about 10 in, with the tree branch being about 20 in.

the blending of the epoxy and natural parts of the tree was harder than sculpting the figure

"Ech. Out of all the places to come into existance, this is easily the worst. Don't ask me what Saji was thinking when he decided to throw this in.
"Anyway, as if the Frozen Wastes weren't bad enough, this place had to reside in it. You'd have to be mad to go in there. The fumes pouring from the earth mixing with the Dragon vapors causes a hallucinogenic gas. And if that and Dragons aren't bad enough, throw in a few hundred tribes of Goblins.
"Still, some insist on going in. Where do you think this information came from? The Wisps say there's a fortress near the center that holds magical relics. And this theory, they say, came from Centaurs, and I've never known a Centaur to lie. Still, I'm not about to go and risk my life in there."

First art of 2013! Woo!

My half of an art trade with Hush-a-bye. Rather than have me draw one of their existing characters, they asked that I make them a monster based on the keywords "bovid, primitive, maned, aquatic, and scaled." This is what I came up with.

Looked at a lot of basal bovids, especially in the subfamily bovinae. The saola and sitatunga were the two main ones I used. Sitatunga actually have those wicked long hooves, all the better to walk around in the marshlands. Looked at various members of the pangolin family for the scales, who are also excellent swimmers. I also imagined that this beastie could stand on it's hind legs like a pangolin can, and maybe even run for short distances, back parallel to the ground, on just two feet. The tail is meant to be like an otters, to aid in swimming. The very bottom right diagram is how I imagine it stays underwater, and I definitely got the inspiration from the water chevrotain, specifically this video, which demonstrates how the chevrotain crawls along the bottom of the river by digging it's hooves into the rocks. Would make a pretty good ambush predator, eh? Gave it a nictating eyelid too, for when it's underwater. And rather than go for a normal horse mane or lion mane, I went for a kind of half mane on the bottom half only, as I really wanted to steer clear from the whole kirin design. It has preorbital glands, but I dunno if they just secrete pheromones or something else, I just think they're cool lol. And last but not least, the mouth, which has to be my favorite feature of the entire monster. Only 12 teeth on top, 6 "molars" on either side; yup, no front teeth! Just a hard gum plate, like a lot of bovids have. The bottom jaw has 12 "molars", two oversized canine teeth that have become tusks, and 6 incisors at the front of the mouth.

So yeah! Was thinking about adding blue edges/trim to some of the scales, especially on the hips and tail, but I couldn't figure out how to make it look good, so I left it off. I think it looks alright with the more natural color scheme though, eh?

Of course, Hush is welcome to change anything they like about this design! It's theirs now, and I hope they enjoy it :)

I have can in there for measure - at the moment they are about 13 inches, I'll know the exact height after i am done with the base.

I'll post pics once they are they are baked and finished.

Just showing some progress on my Axton costume/cosplay for my husband :iconthebuzzsaw:, for Halloween. These were made out of crayola model magic and then painted with acrylics. nothing too fancy, just accessories for his outfit. ;) I just found some pictures of grenade and shield styles and took things I liked and threw them together.

For my husband's Axton costume for Halloween.

This was the style and colors he liked the most, sadly, its impossible. Maliwan doesn't make assault rifles, mostly SMGs, Rocket Launchers, Snipers, and Pistols. But even so, I slapped a sticker of their logo on there. It's his costume, he can have whatever he wants. ^_^ AND YES, this is a SLAG gun. ;)

This was a regular child's gun at a toy store that I painted with acrylics. Took an hour. Very fun!

I love the game borderlands and though it high time someone make a really cool realistic version of the mask. This mask is cast in very tough resin and is hand painted to give it that weathered look. The eyes are LED and wired to a on/off switch.

I will be making more casts so if anyone is intrested feel free to contact me.
