1 - Where I come from

Portugal is where I come from, yes, but the way I see it, that's secondary. Where I really come from is from a warm, loving home, where Saturday mornings lasted forever, tracing Dragon Ball characters on the window was the most fun thing in the world and hours were spent copying Pocahontas stills from the TV, after pausing the VCR at just the right moment. Every one of these hundreds of little things was essential to create the person I am today.

3D render of a Star Wars Sienar Fighter, featuring four traditional solar panels, two prototype panels and a single thrust engine.

The main idea behind this ship is to have a very capable fighter that could stand up against a number of enemy fighters, sporting a large amount of energy banks (used for shields and laser fire) and engine that makes it possible to keep up pace with every fighter. Large experimental wings collect electromagnetic energy and make the ship virtually limitless in terms of operating range and energy availability.

[edit1] I changed the main file for a better one, hope it doesn't get compressed as much as it did before.

Another plate for Spacecraft of the First World War. This is a fighter and attack design from late in the conflict, featuring all metal construction and a miniaturized gravity drive. Here we see it being used in a trans-atmospheric role on Mars, a role for which it was ill suited, owing to an atmosphere thin enough to be an impedance, but too thin to offer much lift. The drive impeller is distinctive to late war French design, having blades much like a conventional propeller, while retracting automatically when aerodynamic drag becomes too great.

This is a colored and (tentatively) finished illustration for Spacecraft of the First World War.

The pencil version is here: Wright-Martin SFC-2

I'm continuing to do some experiments with style and finish. I want to give the impression of art having been copied from archival sources, but I don't want it to be a dominating gimmick. We'll see.

HC-19 ‘Moa’ as used by the Escean Air Force.

Designed and manufactured by the KHA Aerospace Division, the HC-19 Moa is the largest conventional aircraft in human military service. Development of this aircraft started in 2089 and full production in 2102.

The Moa was built to partially replace the Escean Air Force fleet of HC-16 ‘Kingfisher’, previously the largest aircraft in Escean service and second largest in the world after the Rothan VY-300 ‘Pelikan’. Design requirements submitted by the Senatorial Armaments Procurement Committee included at least a 30% increase in aircraft size and payload capacity over the Kingfisher. The final designs submitted by KHAAD dwarfed both the Kingfisher and Pelikan and made the Moa the largest of any conventional fixed-wing aircraft in human history. While the Moa has a vertical takeoff and landing ability, it is not classed as a VTOL.

Not including aircraft modified by civilian airlines, three variations of the design exist in Escean service: cargo, tanker and ACAWS. Half of the 500-strong fleet consists of the standard cargo (Moa) design, used by EAF Air Mobility Command to transport personnel, vehicles and materiel into warzones. One-hundred and fifty aircraft were constructed as heavy tankers (Skyline), while the remaining hundred airframes were converted into Airborne Control and Warning System (Shadow Eye) aircraft.

The Moa can transport oversized payloads up to 450 tons, with the volume of its cargo hold and the inclusion of clamshell doors that reach all the way up to the tail allowing it to carry even the mighty SHVT-24 ‘Condor’, providing the engine nacelles and vertical flight surfaces are removed. Operating at full capacity, the aircraft could comfortably transport either six HM-2A1 ‘Chasseur’ main battle tanks, forty H-65X vehicles, forty- five MAV-66 ‘Mastiff’ assault vehicles, or eighty HLSV-33X vehicles. Moa may also transport all Heavy, Medium and Light VTOL aircraft in Escean service in operational condition, and are the primary airborne launch platform for the HADES (Hale Airborne Delivery and Excursion System). Configured for troop transportation, the Moa can bring up to 1500 personnel into an airfield in palletised seating, or deliver up to 2000 paratroopers in full combat load, almost twenty times the capacity of a single Kingfisher.

The design is notable for the inclusion of rotating engine nacelles, allowing the aircraft to take-off and land near-vertically, or aid in shot-takeoff and landings. This greatly enhances the operational capability of the aircraft and counters any hindrance resulting from its increased size. Rugged landing gear means the aircraft can settle on unpaved runways, while the position of its engines avoids dust and dirt ingestion.

Composite materials and hyperalloys used in the construction of the aircraft make it far lighter and stronger than some smaller and older aircraft, permitting a greater payload to be carried as less engine power is needed to lift the aircraft alone. Graphene armour is applied to the fuel tanks, engines and avionics, and all windows are fabricated from aluminium oxynitride. The Moa design also pioneered a large-scale variation of the ballistic recovery system, which fires large parachutes to help stabilise a power stricken aircraft and reduce altitude loss, thereby increasing survivability for the crew and airframe.

Electronic countermeasures, augmented by pyrotechnic units deploying flares and chaff and a CIPDL turret in the tail, protect the aircraft from guided weaponry. The MONA artificial assistant installed, which assists the pilots in controlling the aircraft, monitors each system and activates them without pilot input to increase reaction time to threats.

SHVT-24 ‘Condor’ as used by the Escean Military.

Designed and built by the KHA Aerospace Division for the Escean Army and Air Force, the Super Heavy VTOL Transport – 24 ‘Condor’ – one of the largest VTOL aircraft in existence – first entered service in 2106.

Although the HC-19 ‘Moa’ is the largest terrestrial Escean aircraft capable of vertical take-off, it is considered a conventional plane with VTOL capabilities, rather than a VTOL by design. The Condor is the biggest true VTOL and dwarves all other models in use by the Escean military.

The primary use of this massive, four-engine aircraft is as a heavy transporter akin to the large cargo aircraft of the late-20th and early-21st Centuries. Over 80m in length, the Condor can carry up to 400 personnel in palletised seating in addition to a crew of eight, while six additional passengers can ride in the command and control centre. Modified models come equipped with Pod Insertion Units, allowing teams to deploy from the belly of the aircraft while in flight.

Thanks to its ferociously powerful Magnus AB7 high-bypass turbofans, the Condor has the ability to carry a staggering 200 tonnes of cargo. The volume of its cargo compartment allows it to transport either twenty HLSV-33X vehicles, eight H-65X vehicles, eight MAV-66 ‘Mastiff’ assault vehicles or three HM-2A1 ‘Chasseur’ main battle tanks. It may even transport other VTOLs such as the HVTN-20 ‘Sealion’ or HVT/A-33 ‘Thundersnow II’ in a stowed configuration, or HVT/A-32 ‘Thundersnow’, HG-64/Z ‘Hellfire’ or HRT-28/B ‘Harrier’ VTOLs in operational condition. Eight ventral winches allow the Condor to sling loads of various sizes.

Despite being developed as a transporter, the Condor has a sizable weapons package that allows it to engage in assault operations. Dedicated attack models add even more weaponry to the design, but the stock variant is fitted with a chin-mounted dual 30mm Gatling turret, two flank turrets, a single dorsal turret and two tail barbettes. A pair of 200mm KAP cannons located in trainable ball turrets are positioned at the front of the aircraft. An additional pair of 11mm K-12 miniguns is located in flank doors behind the command and control centre. The Condor also carries 24, 14-round FFAR ‘Honeycomb’ rocket pods on stub wings for a total of 336 rockets, and 28 AGM-159 ‘Mohawk’ anti-tank missiles beneath the leading wings.

Despite its size, the Condor is relatively light thanks to the use of hyperalloys, composites and carbon nanotubing in its construction. Armour is provided through composites, with graphene armour applied around critical components. The structural strength of the Condor allows it to easily handle the power of its engines as well as considerable payloads. Crash survivability is high, with numerous redundancy systems for electrical and hydraulic controls, as well as emergency systems to assist in fire suppression. While the aircraft has considerable lift (operating off a lifting body principal to augment its smaller wings), it is incapable of a sustained glide in the event of total or multiple engine failure. To help alleviate catastrophic damage or destruction of the aircraft in this event, the Condor incorporates a ballistic recovery system, using multiple parachutes launched from the ventral surface to retard altitude loss.

SHVT-24s have an extensive and powerful ECM system, as well as multiple pyrotechnic countermeasure systems. They are equipped with a small rotodome containing a powerful pulse-Doppler L-Band radar system akin to those installed on ACAWS (Airborne Control and Warning System) aircraft. Blade antennae provide communication in the UHF, VHF and HF frequency ranges. The rotodome support fin contains a JTIDU (Joint Tactical Information Distribution Unit) that securely connects the aircraft to allied forces through Network Operations. The aircraft can also initiate jamming of enemy radar and communication systems, mask allied air units and create ghost contacts to confuse enemy systems.

Another aspect of the Condor is their ability to function as mobile command and control centres and provide battle management. Connected with the NetOps system, a Condor C2 can utilise satellite and drone surveillance data, and relay them to ground units. Its onboard MTI system allows real-time surveillance of mobile targets in the AO. Commanders utilising the Condor have access to a projection table that can accurately represent the terrain of an area, and apply electronic markers to the representation that are then transmitted to all command elements connected to the system. The projector also displays allied forces – ground and air – in real time, as well as any enemy targets tagged by allied units. MONA, the Military Operating Network – Army, assists in data accumulation, streamlining and in controlling this massive aircraft, thereby reducing crew requirements.

The Magnus AB7 Turbofans installed on the Condor are built into rotating nacelles to which the aircraft’s horizontal control surfaces are attached. The AB7, unlike other engine designs used in VTOL aircraft, have their own vertical lifting component, redirecting thrust through ventral exhausts. The ventral exhausts achieve vertical-takeoff under normal or light loads only, while heavy or full loads require rotation of the nacelles by 50˚, using the primary exhaust to aid in takeoff.

Unlike other Escean aircraft, the Condor positions its pilots in a bubble of aluminium oxynitride smart glass upon which all flight, mission and navigational data are projected. The glass can polarise against harsh sunlight or achieve full opacity for covert flying. The pilot seats themselves retract and rotate back from their operational position to allow easy access. Directly behind the pilots are the weapon control officer and electronic warfare operator. Crew chiefs double as doorgunners, while loadmasters oversee all cargo and personnel transported.

Specifications:

Crew: 8 (Pilot, Co-Pilot, FCO, EWO, 2x Crew Chief, 2x Loadmaster)

The Nakajima Ki-84 "Hayate" (キ84 疾風"Gale"?) was a single-seat fighter used by the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force in World War II. The Allied reporting name was "Frank"; the Japanese Army designation was Army Type 4 Fighter (四式戦闘機 yon-shiki-sentō-ki?). Featuring excellent performance and high maneuverability, the Ki-84 was considered to be the best Japanese fighter to see large scale operations during World War II.[1] It was able to match any Allied fighter, and to intercept the high-flying B-29 Superfortresses.[2] Its powerful armament (that could include two 30 mm and two 20 mm cannon) increased its lethality.[3] Though hampered by poor production quality in later models, a high-maintenance engine, a landing gear prone to buckle,[2] and lack of experienced pilots above all else, Hayates proved to be fearsome opponents; a total of 3,514 were buil

Dogfight zwischen "zee" Spitfire und "zee" Messerschmitt

Hi!

This is a concept for something related to a dogfight over a little central Europe town

You can see a Spitfire in the foregrund and a Messerschmitt a little further back. In the background, you can see the town beeing torn apart and the bombers in the sky to the left. Also added some foreground leaves in the top left corner for composition purposes.

I wanted a desaturated color palette with some hot spots of yellow, orange and red, to emphasize the bombing feeling, and a gradient from bright in the left to dark in the right to have a sort of chromatic narrative from serenity to terror.

I used Photoshop and aprox 8-9 hours
