While I was going through the archives I came across the great sunrise I was able to watch on the top of Rophaien in 2011.
After a horrible night with thunderstorm fronts over me while I was camping next to the exposed summit the weather cleared up and the sun rose softly over the grad to the mountain Diepen. A truly impressive memory.

If you have followed my work you can you maybe remember the other image. This shot was taken abundant ten minutes after the older one so that the sun was more powerful. Here you can take a look at the previous one: www.richterphotographie.de

I like to know which image you prefer.

This beautiful sunset was taken in December 2012 in the Forez mounts, more precisely at the border of the Puy de Dôme department and the Loire department in France.

Autumn 2011
Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, France

Dawn above the highest European peaks in the French Alps. While the deeply cut Chamonix Valley is still covered in clouds, first sunlight reaches the summits of Aiguille Verte (4122 m), Grand Jorasses (4204 m) and Mont Blanc (4810 m) (from left).

:bulletred: If you like my photography, please considering purchasing a print Photography is how I make my living and there is no greater honor than having someone hang my art on their walls. Prints come in all shapes and sizes along with all paper finishes including canvas. If you decide to purchase any of my work, I would love to see it! Feel free to send me a snapshot of it hanging and I will feature it on my facebook page.

About the photograph- The sunrise casts its golden glow over the landscape of the western Denver suburbs in this image taken at Sloans Lake. Generally I would alleviate the path entirely out of the photograph for a shot like this & I did take several which did just that however, there was something about those leading lines which really drew me in to the composition. I couldn't avoid it and had to get it. I have always been a sucker for such things in my compositions and this one I loved how it led my eyes down the path. Often times beauty is all around us, we just need to open our eyes to see it!

This is an image taken during my last photography workshop in Iceland, june 2012. Here is a block of ice from the Vatnajökull icefield, deposed on the black sand beach of Jökulsarlon by the North Atlantic Ocean.
It was about 1am, during the infinite night glow of summer.

I think this is one of my best sunsets captured yet. I captured it on Mountain Spring Lake that is located in Neamt county, Romania. The light was amazing, so I stood there until the sun disappeared and took around 70 shots from different angles. Enjoy!

Araucária pine trees against the sunset sky of the Planalto Serrano region, Brazil.

The Brazilian pine, locally known as Araucária, is a conifer tree typically found in the southern regions of Brazil, mainly at high altitudes.
They make these great silhouettes, don't they?
This region is also know for awesome winter sunsets and the casual snow. :snowflake:

Post processing with tone mapping, for deeper contrast.
Santa Catarina, Brazil. Altitude approx 1400m.

EDIT: new high-quality print added and exclusive FREE wallpaper for you here!

This is a shot from corn du second highest mountain in the south of the UK, pen y fan is over to the right.

this was my main objective whilst in brecon, i'd heard a lot about 'pen y fan' (the highest mountain in southern uk) as this is where the sas train, part of their course is a 45 mile navigation which takes in these peaks.

I camped in the woods near the car park at the bottom, had 4 hours sleep and got up at 4am to pack and climb it, the board at the bottom said it took 2-3 hours to climb so i thought id do it in two. As it happens i got to the top of 'corn du' in 45 mins (dont know what the sas whinge about, its a bump!!).
Its a steep rise as you come up to the summit you are treated to a great view of the massive bowl that backs these two mountains. corn du is a little further up, and this shot is taken from the ledge that looks out down the valley back to brecon.
I had'nt realised it would be so cold (un-beknown to me my dog was not well and wasnt happy) i didnt have gloves and the wind that ripped up the front of this face froze my fingers whilst trying to take shots. I have some video that really chills the bones as the whispy cloud rushes up the valley. it was an exhilarating experience and to watch the sun gradually break the clouds and paint the land whilst cloud zipped by was magical...

Something a little different, this is a shot looking up into a row of very old beech trees shot with 14mm lens.
What fascinates me about this is the way the trees fit together, plants are able to sense other plants growing around them and inhibit their growth accordingly mainly so they are not shaded. this shot illustrates that perfectly, each branch has its own space in the canopy...

Lake Manapouri
New Zealand

During our recent trip to New Zealand, I did one night of the Kepler Track and found myself at Shallow Bay on the shores of Lake Manapouri. Rising mists and light rained combined to give this rainbow over the lake itself. This seemed to last forever and was one of many great moments of our trip. This was an exposoure blend of three images done manually. I did take one with a big stopper but found the feel completely different without the ripples of water and sheen.

The actual footage of the rainbow can be seen in this video

If there were ever an image that showcased an intense sense of feeling for me than this was it. The title pretty much sums it up. Standing here alone in the pre sunrise glow in the cool crisp eastern sierra air beneath these beautiful mountains is something I won't soon forget. Arriving in the dark almost hitting a healthy group of deer, I wandered about until I found something of interest. Luckily, there were some wildflowers blooming. These bright yellow mule ears caught my attention and I searched for the perfect plant to photograph. Believe it or not, the exposure times started at roughly 20 seconds, and I had to worry about the slight breeze swaying the flowers around. After the light broke over the horizon, I was able to get the exposure to less than 5 seconds and I tried my best to block any sort of wind from blowing the flowers around. I was hoping there would be clouds, but even without them this ended up being a very colorful scene. With nobody around for miles, the only sounds being the morning breeze and distant rushing water of Mcgee creek I truly felt as if I was the first person to view this landscape. It was true bliss and one of the few moments where I truly and spiritually connected with nature. Everyone should experience a morning like this.

Hello,

This is a picture from my last trip in Patagonia... We were here in the deep valley of Rio Electrico, near the roofs of mount Fitz Roy. We were planning to reach the circo de Los Altares on the Hielo Continental icefield.

This morning we ad an amazing sunrise on this place called "La Playita", on the shore of Lago Electrico. The weather was amazingly quite, with no wind. Some really rare conditions in this area. These conditions offered us a great reflection of the Fitz Roy peak, in the morning glow...

These mountains are really different from what we know in France with the Alps... they're really impressive and I'll keep great remembers of this trip.

Sunrise at Vermillion Lakes, Banff, Alberta, Canada
We stayed not far from here at a camp ground, and this was the second sunrise I've witnessed in the Rockies. There isn't much
that can compare to watching the clouds light up with colour when surrounded by such beauty.

Doi Samer Dao (Hill of Stars) is one of the more famous national parks in Northern Thailand. From the top of the hill, you can see Nan river - one of major rivers in Thailand. In the morning, fog builds up above the river, giving a unique scene of cloud river engulfed by mountains.

Chiang Mai from a high vantage point. Doi Suthep is a famous attraction in Chiang Mai. But not many people know that there is an observation spot which overlooks the whole city. Even though Chiang Mai does not have a lot of skyscrapers, its night scene is still amazing nonetheless.

One of my favourite places in New Zealand, is beautiful Lake Matheson.

On favourable mornings, the reward for your early morning hiking aspirations is a crystal clear and calm lake offering pristine reflections of the alpine spectacle before your eyes.

Not the most conducive cloud cover formation for a landscape image (covering Mount Cook wholesale), but, after a failed attempt the morning prior, I was thankful for the fire in the sky this second morning's attempt.

This is an image from my spring 2011 campaign of the South Island.

Spring in Colorado means many things but one thing is for sure, it often means great sunrises! Photographed in Denver, this was a tricky exposure and I took several. The problem I was having is that the boats would often move and I am not a huge fan of that look when it comes to long exposures. While I wanted the water smooth, I also wanted to boats to be still. I had to take several photograph of this scene to get the 1 image I wanted which involved a lot of adjusting as far as my exposures go. I worked pretty hard at it but in the end I walked away with the image I wanted. Lesson learned? Slow down and take your time, experiment, relax and enjoy it!

The mesas of Gunnison County Colorado are covered in a thick blanket of fog and clouds as sunlight reflects against the Autumn trees. There is just an endless supply of subject matter down here to photograph. Everywhere you look, it was spectacular. I caught this scene at just the right moment while the sun was playing peek-a-boo through the fog and storm clouds which would bring snow and rain after a few minutes of photographing this. It was beautiful to watch and just really tranquil.

The peak of the incredible Lascar Volcano on the Chilean altiplano.  We were blessed with one of the most spectacular sunsets I've ever seen, stunning red light everywhere we looked as the sun dropped into a tiny clear patch of the sky below thick clouds just before it disappeared below the horizon.

The light at this altitude - we were at 5000m, the peak in front is a massive 5990m - can be stunning in it's clarity and warmth,

This is a 3 image stitch.
