Max had done what Andrew had told him. Breakfast had turned out to be surprisingly okay; at least he had expected the food on a cruiser to be much worse.
Felix had left the common room with the 1st Officer and the young man had been silently thankful for that. The engineer still made him feel uncomfortable and he hastily turned his attention to the medical assistant now, who meanwhile had waited for him patiently, sipping her coffee. She didn’t seem to be in the mood for talking though, so he hurried to finish his meal and finally got back to his feet carefully. He took an indecisively look around, before he silently grabbed his empty plate to put it into the sink where already a few dishes had been left. Louisa watched him and finally started walking towards the door. Max slowly followed her down the stairs and down another hallway until they reached the medical office.

Max opened his eyes with a disgruntled sigh. Something was making annoying beeping noises behind his head and since it even got louder now, he finally turned around onto his stomach to see what it was.
There was a blinking display next to his bed, showing him the time and date. He cursed silently. 5:45 am. Why on earth would the stupid thing wake him up in the middle of the night? He reached out to feel around in the dark for something to mute the alarm and hastily pushed the small button when he found it. He sighed happily.
He‘d already closed his eyes again and it took him another long moment until it finally hit him. He wasn’t home in his little room above the store. He wasn’t even on Celeste anymore. He was lying on a bed in a small cabin on a mail cruiser on its way to Delain. He buried his face in the pillow and made a frustrated noise. Twelve fucking weeks. What on earth had he been thinking to sneak on the ship just like this?
