Major Project Dev Blog - Week 12 and 13Major Project Dev Blog - Week 12 & 13More Like This
Welcome to my weekly game development blog. I will be commandeering my DeviantArt journal to use as my development blog in correlation with the major project game I’ll be working on over my final two trimesters of my Game Design degree. This game will be the culmination of the things I have learned and the skills I've gathered in my time at completing this degree.
Week 12 & 13
Last week and this week was spent preparing our deliverables and presentation for our end of trimester progress report. I've spent a lot of my time laying out the presentation and creating slides that detail all the work we have created across this pre production unit for development next trimester.
In the presentation I added links to all documentation that we have created. This should make for easy access when handing in the combined deliverable:
I also ran over design research, conceptual developmen
New DeviantART Thumbnail Grid is HilariousStuff I SayMore Like This
In another of deviantART's recent baffling decisions, likely to try and stop the user hemorrhage, they decided its time for an update to the thumbnail grid. If you're not a beta tester you wont have seen it yet but boy oh boy its not great. Basically if you post a wide aspect ratio image it gets way more space on the front page. So what I propose is that whenever we post images we add a ton of width to the image, be it transparent or not, so that we can game the system. If you want more attention on deviantART, just post wide images.

Do not work for freeI received an email soliciting artwork for the second volume of"The Fantasy Illustration Library: Gods and Goddesses”.More Like This
The jist of it was: Pick your god or goddess! Make art for us! After we get all the art, we’ll try to do a Kickstarter to produce the book and if we make enough money, we might pay the artists! Don’t pay attention to the un-affordable nature of the book’s price point ($100) because we’ll totally pay you royalties!!
This brand of “proposal” is predatory, dishonest, and frankly incompetent. (And art budget for an art book?? Who’d ever even think of that!) People who organize business models like this are assholes, no words minced. Do not take the bait. Do not get involved. Do not lessen yourself, your work, your skill and time, by participating in this kind of pig swill.
No amount of experience or exposure is worth it. You know what else gets you experience and exposure? Payin
