The 2012 landscape calendar is now available. Check it out!

Everything looked profoundly boring until 5 minutes after the sun went down. I was wearing my hiking boots, which came in handy when I climbed down to those slipper rocks. Had to be really careful, especially considering that I was pretty excited about the light.

Equipment: Nikon D90 + Tokina 11-16mm.

Took many of these shots down at Phillip Island one morning during the holidays. Had to trek up there in darkness and scale the cliff down as the dawn light slowly creeped up over the horizon.
Stayed in this area for around 3 hours and took hundreds of photos.

I took this photo during a phenomenal thunderstorm that rolled through Albuquerque, NM. It was a little nerve racking standing near my camera & tripod with lightning hitting so close, but it was well worth it!!
Foreground lighting came from a nearby park behind me.

This is one of the most interesting ways I've ever seen water look. Let me explain how it managed to be five distinct colours at once. The sun is behind me on the left, and it's about 1 hour before sunset.

1) The green area on the left is shallow, and is colored primarily by the reflection of the pine trees on the slope along with the light reflecting off the bottom covered with silt.
2) The yellow spot just below (1) is a decaying tree on the bottom.
3) The red foreground is just the red rocks being lit up by the late sun.
4) The blue area towards top right is the reflection of the clear sky.
5) The purple area between (3) and (4) is a combination of those two.

Location: Garibaldi Lake, Garibaldi Provincial Park, Beautiful British Columbia, Canada.
Equipment: Nikon D90 + Tokina 11-16mm + Tiffen Polarizer.
Processing: Photomatix Pro 4.1 and Photoshop CS5 from 3 RAW exposures.

The tremendous scale of this glacier cave is lost without a reference point. Situated just above the scenic and secluded Wedgemount Lake, it's a testament to the yearly retreat of the Wedgemount Glacier. The pace of the melting is remarkable, as even a few days in the summer can bring significant changes. The cave towers above you at 5 storeys high, making you feel small and insignificant in its magnificent presence. Accessible only via a rugged and extremely steep hike, only a few thousand people get to see it every year.

Location: Wedgemount Glacier above Wedgemount Lake, Garibaldi Provincial Park, Beautiful British Columbia, Canada.
Equipment: Nikon D90 + Tokina 11-16mm + Tiffen Polarizer.
Processing: Photomatix Pro 4.1 and Photoshop CS6 from 3 RAW exposures.

I am super jacked to finally get out of the city. My knee got me there and back without any issues! 1-2 meters of snow at this elevation at the end of July? WOW :) It doesn't even seem to be melting that quickly. The water was absolutely brilliant in the absence of wind, and you could see every little trout which swam by. I'll camp here sometime in September to catch the sunset and sunrise.

Hello,

This is a picture from my last trip in Patagonia... We were here in the deep valley of Rio Electrico, near the roofs of mount Fitz Roy. We were planning to reach the circo de Los Altares on the Hielo Continental icefield.

This morning we ad an amazing sunrise on this place called "La Playita", on the shore of Lago Electrico. The weather was amazingly quite, with no wind. Some really rare conditions in this area. These conditions offered us a great reflection of the Fitz Roy peak, in the morning glow...

These mountains are really different from what we know in France with the Alps... they're really impressive and I'll keep great remembers of this trip.
